Almost everybody failed to realized that Grunkle Stan is smart in his own way like he made that kind of portal start working for at least 99% and it seemed that he hit a roadblock cuz he doesn't have the rest of the books and now that he has them all he got it starting again. He's like one of those guys that plays dumb but is secretly smart, I mean he is quite imaginative and street smart as you go along the story
@@MikeyVenture Particularly it happens because adding 5 fingers when animating characters which are anatomically not real the fifth finger most times looks off... anime does it but it does look anatomically correct...
In the beginning of the episode Dipper vs Manliness, one of the characters, Tyler, couldn’t decide whether to buy the puma shirt or the panther shirt. At 8:17, you can see he’s wearing a combination of both the puma and panther shirts.
Oh the six-fingered hand on the journal is definitely relevant. Also Stan's glove had six fingers on it. That is not a coincidence. Have fun theorizing!
I recall that characters have 5 fingers like us, but some are drawn with 4 because it looks better but are still considered to have 5. A little confusing when you have a book with a cutout of 6.
Generally in Gravity Falls, adults get 5 and kids get 4. I like to think some radioactive explosion happened at some point to make all the people under a certain age be born with 4.
@@reaperscythe4579 I'm picturing this less as a tooth thing and more as an antler thing. You ever seen videos of deer shedding antlers?? They just pop right off. I hate it, thank you.
It's interesting to see the difference to the opening of this episode vs the one that was in the boxset's deleted scenes. Originally the setup was mostly in a long new segment of the Pines family being interviewed about Gideon's defeat and the party. The part where Dipper and Mabel were first fleeing from the zombies also had more of Mabel fighting them off and using a soda can as a grenade to save Waddles.
@@MikeyVenture There's a video of all of them easy to find on youtube but the segment for s2ep2 actually has a huge spoiler so I recommend waiting until you've seen at least the first half of the season before watching!
5:02 I think it's because they have tiny hands. They honestly look weird if you give them 5 fingers. You never noticed because it looks natural. Basically you grow fingers when you get older in this universe, like 5th fingers = Wisdom teeth lol
CIPHER UPDATE: You were right about there being ciphers on the “leprecorn page”. When you decode them, they translate to “WATCH OUT” and “PLEASE KILL ME”. There is also a cipher on the bottom of Dipper’s Big Mysteries board. It’s very hard to see, but it decodes to “Why is Wendy so perfect?”. There’s also one on Agent Powers’s card. It decodes to “FLAG”. There’s another cipher on the government satellite screen at 2:18. It decode to “Search for the…”. The cipher at the end credits translates to “Welcome Back”. This time it can only be solved by searching for the key word hidden in the background. It can be seen in the prison that Gideon is in at 1:54. That key word is “WIDDLE”. And finally, that thing you saw at the very end is a brand new cipher and the picture on it is part of a big reveal of something. You will see one of those at the very end of every episode of season 2. That new cipher can be solved by putting three commonly used ciphers together. But for now, I can tell you that ending cipher decode to, “THE MAN DOWNSTAIRS IS VERY CLEVER, CAN HE HIDE HIS PLANS FOREVER?”.
@@MikeyVenture No problem. Fun Fact: the cipher that says welcome back was specifically made because everyone had to wait an entire year for Gravity Falls to return. The season 1 finale was in August 2013 and the season 2 premiere was in August 2014. I told you a couple of reactions ago that 2x02 is the scariest episode. Some of the images there are worthy of pretty much a full-on horror movie. It's one of my favorites of the series I can't wait for you to see it. Keep this up, you have great camera quality, great theories and I hope you get more subscribers.
So this isn’t necessarily spoilers, but it could influence your viewing experience a bit, so feel free to pass over this comment if you don’t want that. Still here? Okay Stan can’t afford to tell anyone about the device because of how much it means to him, even Dipper. Yeah. Again... [spoiler space] ... from a writing standpoint, the show really wanted to preserve a lot more mystery around Stan's intentions, as well as regarding exactly what the machine in the basement is / what it does. A lot of the really great drama to come depends on the kids, and even the audience to some extent, not REALLY knowing what Stan is doing, and being able to doubt him, even if only for a moment. If Stan just told Dipper (and Mabel!) now what he was doing and why, that would sure be an interesting direction for the story to take! (And there are fan AUs out there that explore the idea.) This was a really fun one to watch. And yeah I’m going to try to do as many premieres as I can for the second season. I like hanging out in chat talking about the show with you all
@@MikeyVenture I'm super excited for next week in particular, one of my all time favourite episodes. And the premier format is really fun, apologies if I get emotional in chat xD
Kinda interesting you mention The Simpsons afterwards because I was actually thinking about it while watching this. As every time I watch this episode and see the part where Mabel and Dipper have the convo about raising the dead (at 12:26 of your reaction), it always makes me think of Marge and Homer. It's such a classic Simpsons moment to me.
Again, I missed the premiere, but I really like this episode. Starts the second season of with a slightly darker undertone (I agree with you, describing it as a different aura fits). Also the season that got me truly hooked on the show. And it's revealed that Stan knew about the supernatural all along! I have to admit, during my first watch that came entirely as a surprise to me. Back then I didn't know much about the show (no hype about how good it's apparently supposed to be) and I just wrote the supernatural off as "the thing only the main characters who are children know about", not questioning how Stan could have lived in Gravity Falls for decades without noticing the gnomes and fairies on his lawn. Cartoon logic, we've all seen it. So I was pleasantly surprised to hear there was more to it. 8:17 This is one of my favorite little details! Do you see the shirt Tyler's wearing? It's both a puma AND a panther shirt sewn together? (Remember back in Dipper vs Manliness when he was in the shack's giftshop and couldn't decide if he should buy the puma or the panther shirt? Turns out he bought both!) Cipher for this episodes end card is: The man downstairs is very clever, can he hide his plans forever?
I’m glad he came out and told them already. We spent an entire season of him keeping them until he dark, so with everything going we didn’t need to keep up with that mystery. And yeah I noticed the shirt when I was editing the video. Such a great little detail. Also I do want to try to do more premieres for Gravity Falls reactions. Usually depends on my job if I’m able to schedule them though

I appreciate all the comments to these videos! It’s been fun reading them, especially because this show will always be special to me since it really helped launch my channel. It’s been nice seeing people still finding them after this much time. And thank you for all the kind words as well :)
Season 2 definitely ramps things up massively from season 1... Don't get me wrong, season 1 is great, but season 2 is where everything comes together. Aside from the last 2 episodes (which are more like episodes of season 2), season 1 is really just about setting up characters and events for season 2. I'm not saying that every episode of season 2 is going to be directly about finding out what's really been going on in and around Gravity Falls, but a *lot* more of this season is about that than in season 1. And believe me, once you've finished the last episode, you'll want to go back and rewatch the show from the beginning to catch all of the little details you didn't pay much attention to the first time around that turned out to be important in one way or another. As a series, Gravity Falls is almost like an Edgar Wright movie for all the Chekhov's guns they leave lying around all over the place...
"season 1 is really just about setting up characters and events for season 2" -- yeah, and I've also made the argument before that Season 1 is about widening the world of Gravity Falls and its townspeople (and the supernatural creatures). It takes a while to build up such a rich setting, you know? And it really is a rich setting! Think about all the people who are familiar faces and who build up a sense of character through repeat appearances (like Manly Dan, Toby Determined, Lazy Susan, Tyler Cutebiker, Old Man McGucket, the teens, etc.). And also think about how you know, in the back of your mind, how far the world of Gravity Falls extends, how many creatures and paranormal phenomena we've met that we know are still just out there (like the gnomes, the Manotaurs, Multi-Bear, Larry King's wax head somewhere in the vents, Sev'ral Timez, etc.). Season 1 puts all of those pieces on the board, and it establishes the board itself in detail. Now, in Season 2, we're going to see ALL of that get used. It gives the show a really deep bench to draw from, and the show is going to return to a lot of those established people and things. There's so much of Season 2 that just would not be as meaningful or fun, if we hadn't gotten to know so much about the world and its people. I think it makes the stakes higher. And I still think it's amazing that the show managed to do that, create that big a world (in one "small town") in only 2 seasons.
I get that you don't wanna share your theory right now cuz people could spoil it in the comments. But saying you have a theory and not telling your theory until AFTER it turns out to be right/wrong just make people believe you never had a theory to begin with. That being said, I'm still looking forward to when you eventually find out the secrets of Gravity falls. This show will leave your jaw on the floor
I get what you are saying, but I rather not risk getting spoiled. It's already a huge risk just by sharing my first time experience with the show publicly, so I rather minimize the chances of spoilers. And if they don't believe me then oh well

The comparison to Edgar Wright is so true. So many shots are riddled with details you don't notice
It's either Stan has only Four fingers or that glove at the beginning had Six
keep in mind this whole episode was dippers fault basically lol
Can’t wait!!!!
And if they don't believe me then oh well
25:53...oh were dfntly gonna see bill again

There's some pretty important lore/story in the next few episodes, just so you know.

I like how you hearted my comment but didn't answer my question😐
@@TomerShemeshDisney+ is where he watches the episodes
I thought you said you were gonna do two episodes a video
Two videos a week
@@MikeyVenture What's the other day you plan to release a video, if you can? Fridays, and...?
I’m aiming for Tuesdays
@@MikeyVenture you gonna release them normally or release the reaction live at the usual time?
If I can pull of a premiere release I will. My work schedule changes every week, so a lot of what I do on UA-cam really depends on how things with my job are going. So if it’s a regular release it will be at 1PM EST. Premieres are usually an hour or two after that to attempt to be as time zone friendly to everyone
scary-oak?!
I didn't know it was a play on karaoke! 😆
