So, a programmer ?
According to Larry Wall(1), the original author of the Perl programming language, there are three great virtues of a programmer; Laziness, Impatience and Hubris
*1.) Laziness: The quality that makes you go to great effort to reduce overall energy expenditure. It makes you write labor-saving programs that other people will find useful and document what you wrote so you don't have to answer so many questions about it.*
2.) Impatience: The anger you feel when the computer is being lazy. This makes you write programs that don't just react to your needs, but actually anticipate them. Or at least pretend to.
3.) Hubris: The quality that makes you write (and maintain) programs that other people won't want to say bad things about.
This game has matured so well.

This is what I love, kinda like a Minecraft mod pack but instead of being good and buggy it is amazing and impeccable.
The closest a game has come in allowing Players to roleplay being an industrial engineering.
Experimenting, using clever thinking and collaborating- _in this case, using strategies found on the internet to gain advantage in a game_, which is similar to real life in some way, is one of the best forms of engagement.
The reason why the power wasn't working was because it didn't have anything to power.

This game has literally just popped up on my game radar and has already made it to no. 1 on my list of favourite games... It's even made it's way past Just Cause 3, just cause it's fun... I, when realizing that this is a game where you can clear all the trees and make a Factory, thought this should be called "Lorax Simulator"
Except you're not the Lorax, you're the Once-ler. The aliens are the Loraxes, trying to save their planet by destroying the machines that are polluting it. (So that's another advantage of switching to electricity: you'll provoke fewer attacks, and you can concentrate your defenses on the remaining coal-powered machines -- namely, the boilers.)

Ahh, going back and watching year old videos... So amusing.
The "some time later" intermissions also made me laugh - the steam engine just wasn't running because there was nothing drawing power. Not sure why that was represented with an "unplugged" warning. Maybe that's been changed since then. It took me a while to realize that this was made before burner inserters would fuel themselves, too. Nostalgia!
No, sadly power production interface/feedback if the one serious flaw of this otherwise amazing game.
I'm currently previewing the game, and I had the same problem with the powery thing. You're actually supposed to make something that requires electricity, and then plug it to the steam engine, so that it can then work. I took around 45 minutes to understand that.

Hey Nerd3 could you do a series on factorio
I managed to build a coordinated, self-sustaining Factory in this game that could produce it's own green AND red science packs along with all inputs and final products I might need and deposit them in boxes (which filled up at varying speed) or use them to make more complex products. I also built an enormous loop train line because my only source of oil was 10 miles away. Damn you can build so many types of fuel.
Your factory design was compact, and looked cool, mine did a lot but it was spread out over a large area and therefore appears less dense

MAKE THIS A SERIES
The steam engine wasn't working because there was nothing to power and as such it didn't produce any power, when it was hooked up to the main base it suddenly had things to power, not because there is some kind of limit on how many grids you can have.
I really hope we get more or this game soon

I Love the game only 1 problem i had a bug i think.
I made my base. and now the game spawned a Huge Enemy base next to mine.

How big? I have a pretty large hive next to mine and they've constantly harassed me, but I've progressed, regardless.
They impale themselves on my lasers and my robots repair any damage. Occasionally they spam a ton of enemies and I have to personally repair the turrets to prevent the loss of them.
