Spent three years in The Work and it was great, except for a certain culture that was too inside and didn't let in new ideas or ways of working. Apparently I wasn't supposed to tell anyone that I did these movements. But the movements were great. They're practiced in such a way that you can only progress but letting go of control on deeper and deeper levels. They actually give you the felt sense of controlling, holding and so on vs flow and surrendering to the body and the energy of the group. It's unlike anything the eastern movement and body practices could ever bring about in my experience.
Im interested in joining a gurdjieff group in montreal. I met some one there who I felt a very deep connection with. He told me you must find the wrong way before finding the right way. I would like to see him again but want to make sure I come from a place of humility. Btw what was your experience with these sacred dances; is it as effective as say zen meditation and do you think it brings about more than just observation?
Hi, David. I spent about three years in the Work too. I left when it was time to move on. My group was associated with the group at Turkey Cottage. Our teacher was Nancy Pearson. I learned a great deal from the Work and took that with me when I left. When I mention Gurdieff to my husband, he usually says, "Ah, Ouspensky!" Um no. HAHA!
"dance, dance, wherever you may be, I am the Lord of the dance, said he, and I follow you wherever you may be, I danced in the morning, and I danced under the stars and the sun". Much love, everyone, Noel
+Gurdeep Singh awareness and consciousness slowly will increase and maybe one arrives to know hisself :) this dances are always combined with inner exercises and selfobservation
Never had much time for self observation in any of the 600 classes I have been in. Way to busy just trying to keep the pattern going and maybe have a few percentages available for inner exercises. But I will try it in Corfu. Thanks for the idea.
Hi there! Great video and beautifully performed dance. I am working on a film that has a section on different meditation awakening techniques, and Gurdjieff is one of the teachers mentioned in the film. May I use a part of this clip in the film? Thanks in advance!
There is something with this music which I can't express. I just love it. Thank you uploader. I want to learn more about gurdjieff. Please anyone help me. I will be very much thankful.
What infirmation you need i worked 20 years with the Teacher for Gurdjieffs movements together with arround 100 oersons so maybe i can help you a little regards Slavica Denona Herceg
Pythagoras is a very Sacred Dance. Please remove the emoji of the top hat man. There is No ego or titillation. This is Truly Sacred. Try to "understand."
I want to ask if the same movements that Gurdjieff founded have the same task with other religious and mystic dances (like whirling dervishes of Sufis) ? Or it's a method to awake consciousness ?
Hi there! I'm working on a forthcoming podcast that includes some exploration of Gurdjieff's work and teachings. Would it be possible to include a brief excerpt (15 seconds) of this performance?
+starlightlake this dances are ment to be part of an global work on oneself they are combined with inner exercises and selfobservation in the gurdjieff-bennett-tradition. meant to be performed, we don't know, if the video inspires you to something good so yes, they are ment to be performed :)

these dances are for active meditation, not for performances, harmony for the centers of energy inside the human being.
performance and meditation are one and the same brother
That may depend on the placement of attention and the flow of energy that results from it.
Excelente!
Muchas Gracias
