Hi! I discovered your channel entirely by accident and to be honest I'm not even learning Japanese (I'm learning Korean though) but I've been binge watching your videos haha. You seem so friendly and just nice to listen to. I hope your Japanese studies are going well! Sending good vibes from Poland! :D
Awesome book haul! That is great you found all those books for a great price. We have Kinokuniya in Seattle but the books are nearly twice the price of Japan.
I never heard about the last 4 study books and I'd really love for you to do a more in-depht review of the Shadowing and 88 basic phrases one 😍 Maybe you could demonstrate how you're supposed to use them with one or two examples if you ever find the time to do so 🙏 I'd also love for you to let us know how helpful you found all of these books you just bought
Hi Esther, that's a great idea 😊 I'll definitely do that in the future. But it will take me some time to get through them. I'll also include them in my study vlogs when I start using them so people can get an early glimpse on who they are 😊 If you ever have another idea or video request let me know. I'll try to make it happen 😊
I use the SKM 3 but in conjunction with "A Handbook of Japanese Grammar Patterns for Teachers and Learners." I got this handbook over a year ago but never knew how to use it; but since its a reference book/dictionary it helps to use it in conjunction with a book like SKM (learned that a month ago). I plan to buy Tobira in December as well. I hope you enjoy Quartet and let us know your thoughts.
@CelineJordan SKM 4 on its own was amazing but since the grammar points are so closely linked, I don't think SKM 3 works well on its own. But since you have Quartet, I would say use it as a review source for JLPT N3 after finishing Quartet.
Good book choices! I’ve recently started using Quartet for the same reason you mentioned, the Tokini Andy videos are great. I’ll probably also get the 500問 at some point down the line 😁 I’m also going to take a look at The Little Prince, great idea! that publisher always includes furigana in their books, but I’ve found they’re often a bit too difficult for me yet. In case you’re able to find them, I can recommend the 2 light novels the Minna no Nihongo publisher has put together (I wish the Genki and Quartet people did the same at some point) 小説 ミラーさん -みんなの日本語初級シリーズ- And 小説 ミラーさんⅡ -みんなの日本語初級シリーズ- I’ve read the first one once and I’m going to read it again, it’s perfect for N4 level. The second one I’ll try to read in the near future, it’s more of an N3 thing.
Nice! How do you like the Quartet books so far? 😊 Any tips on how to use them you wished you'd know before starting the book? Yeah, the books are still a bit difficult but the difficulty also varies. On the spine they have 1-3 wings depending on the difficulty level. (The little prince has 2 and すずめ has 3.) They're already on my wishlist 🤭 But thank you for explain what levels they are. I didn't know that the second one is more difficult. Are there other books you like to practice reading with? 😊
@@Seriinudesu Quartet: I recommend patience 😅 the grammar parts are well explained, the examples are good and I'm not finding them difficult to understand. However, I'd say the challenging bits are everything else: the reading sections are a bit hard, because they only have some furigana and it gets tougher as the book progresses. Which I think is probably a good thing, they sort of force you to learn everything from each lesson before moving forward. It also includes a big section on speaking and writing, which I'm not sure how good it's going to be while self studying. I guess we'll find out! I'm currently reading stuff like the よつばと!manga and have started a few others like Flying Witch (easy-ish) and Doraemon (not as easy as I expected!). On the book front, I'm very slowly reading Kiki's Delivery service on the Kindle, because I do need to check quite a lot of vocabulary. I really think the Kindle is going to be an amazing resource for reading challenging stuff. I do prefer paper books generally, but the Kindle is just too practical.
That sounds like a good challenge 😄 Maybe one can do the talking part with an italki teacher 😊 I feel the same about the kindle 😄 It's so nice to see how helpful technology can be these days with language learning 😊
I was wondering, since the JLPT is over for you now and you also made a video about immersion. Why did you decide to continue with the Textbooks instead of focusing on immersion? I think with your base knowledge you have now, immersion would give you really fast gains.
Good question. I want to try doing both simultaneously 😊 The new textbooks I bought I want to start in autumn but go through them slower than before and do weekly immersion activities like reading the other books and watching a few Netflix shows. I’m also participating in this weeks minimmersion weekend 😊 Are you only doing immersion?
Have you used any of the books I showed in the video? How did you like them? ☺
What a great book haul and choice of shops and items for learning Japanese.
Thank you very much, Trisha 🤗 Did you know any of these books before?

Hi Vicky, thank you so much! 🥹 That makes me really happy to hear. Good luck with your Korean 😊 And sending good vibes back from Germany 🤗
Awesome book haul! That is great you found all those books for a great price. We have Kinokuniya in Seattle but the books are nearly twice the price of Japan.
Thank you 😊 That's a shame 😅 But at least it's cheaper than a plane ticket to Japan you can admire them in the store 😉
What a great haul! I want to add several of these to my wishlist!
Thank you! Which one sparked your interest? 😊

@@Seriinudesu Always looking forward to your new videos and I'm even more excited for your new study vlogs sometime in the future now 😊
Thank you. I’ll prefilm one very soon 😉

Whoa! I've checked and Japanese books in Thailand are much cheaper than the price we have here in the Philippines. 😮
Oh no, that's so unfair 😅
