@@llamarre4 confusing, haha. Kemet also had a career year. 2 receivers had career years. Mooney was tripping over his own feet at times. What’s more, there are many examples where Moore is lined up on the short side of the field and does 10-12 yard out routes allowing him only 10 yards between his alignment and the boundary. Mooney would run the same route from the wide side slot giving him 30 yards of horizontal space. On these plays Moore would attract attention from the defense and have 2 to 3 defenders cheating his way. Mooney is the only read that gets them a first down on 3rd and 10. There’s usually 2 check downs and a deep dummy route.
In all between Moores route of 10 yards horizontal and Mooney route of you have 2 routes and 45 yards of space. If you put you flip the play and run it the other way you increase your total yardage of potential space separation and increase your chances.
2 problems. 1. Lou Gestsy didn’t understand how to use the short and wide side and 2 Mooney very often did not get open in these scenarios. Confused? Me? Wrong… you just don’t understand football but you think you do cause you masterbate to ESPN

Don't know what games you watched last year. Fields was horrible.. The Bear's had a playoff caliber defense, what held them back was poor play at the quarterback position. Fields had enough around him to show growth and not look like his rookie year. Where do we start with his faults, slow with the progression, holds the ball too long, gets worse with the efficiency in the 3rd and 4th quarter of games. Still looked like a rookie out there last year.

Please take a look at the 2018 Bears offensive roster position by position and compare it to the 2023 Bears offensive roster. You can even compare Nagy vs Getsy. The 2023 roster was as good if not better and Mitch Trubisky outperformed Justin statistically in pretty much every category outside of rushing while playing in 14 games vs Justin’s 13. Justin would need to accumulate 425 total yds and 7 TD’s in that extra game just to match Mitch’s production from that year. That tells you all you need to know.
Exactly, if anything I feel like Trubisky got a raw deal.

Good analysis. Even when he scored that TD from inside the 10, he had a man open in front of the goal line. He also seemed to look for DJ more than not and took way too many sacks when guys were open in the beginning of the play. Maybe he big play hunts too much, thinks to slowly - I don't know, but it was frustrating watching him at times. That said, he did improve a lot last year, but still held the ball too long at times. Even when he hit DJ and others, he through behind them, etc., and took what should have been at TD, but ended up being just a FG. I wish him nothing but the best in Pittsburg. He was given a short stick by Ryan Pace from the jump. Pace also traded away first round picks to get him but did not give his weapons or protect. SMH. TOo many coaches, OC's also confused him. Imagine having a new boss at your job every year?
When Fields first stopped himself throwing to an open receiver (around week 5 of '22) absolutely Everyone Knew this was a coaches' decision: Fields had scrambled free & got into throwing motion as we'd seen him do so often.
Then he literally looked as if he'd been given a shock, stopped himself & scrambled for only a couple of yards. Everything about those shocked motions looked unnatural & I think that everyone who saw it though he must have been concussed & we didn't see the play that happened on.
Then the Bears didn't take him into the blue tent. Not even at the end of that drive. & When Fields did the same thing at least 2 more times that game & they still didn't, everyone realized that the Bears somehow knew in advance that this behavior wasn't due to concussion.
& the dread of him suffering one switched because how could they _KNOW_ that bizarre drive-killing behavior _wasn't_ due to concussion unless he was executing the plays as called? & that's just it. Everyone watching knew this at the time.
They said in reflexive defense that "they _had to do this_ in order to simplify the offense for Fields." So you all knew it was a coaching decision *at that time.*
Later, after that reflexive period wore off people realized that even this defense implied the coaches were responsible. So they stopped saying that & returned to the old tried & tired falsehood that "Fields can't read defenses," a lie that had been debunked over a year prior.
I can *_not_** figure out why* Matt Eberflus is getting any free passes here as if he was the Favorite Uncle of every NFL fan. People made videos *showing* how Greg Roman utterly sabotaged the Ravens offense for years & yet he has done less than Matt Eberflus did to Fields.
"Ay, Tom Brady; We wants yuz tuh you know, not pass to Gronk every t'ird passing play. Even if he gets open. Even if he's the only player *who* gets open. Just tuh sees if dat makes the play go smoother." Name _any QB_ who could succeed with that limitation?

Again, I don't _get_ it. Steelers fans chanted Matt Canada out of town. When Fields called out his coaches for sending him such confused messages that he didn't know anymore what it was they were expecting him to do, *any other team's owner, GM AND HC would have responded.* _Not_ responding would have been an admission of guilt that this was intentional.
Fields called them out twice, you all pretended you didn't hear it.

2 players had a record year in catching passes, you don’t get that with a bad QB.

We just saw the Eagles go from S-B contenders to being a laughing stock with the Same Roster (or at least so close we can be sure it wasn't the change in roster that caused the change). You even bring up Tua, a product of play-calling if ever there was one. You _saw_ Fields make the Bears the #1 offense *three weeks straight* above Allen, Mahomes & Burrow with an élite WR _trio!_
& even your compliments here are insulting. He would have never attempted that pass as a rookie (5.43). So if I link a highlight reel of Fields' '21 season, I _won't see_ such passes? I've seen him make *better passes,* threading them past the out-stretched arms of receivers to nail his target. Normally one would have to seek Dan Marino highlight reels to see such things.
So what are you trying to accomplish with this video? Are you trying to *prove something* or just make content in order to pretend to have anything to say? "What are you doing Justin? Just throw the ball?" As I mentioned in a comment elsewhere on this page, the Bears all but openly admitted that they would tell him not to throw to certain receivers on certain plays & that when Fields called them out on this, they Did Not Respond. Eberflus waved shut any reporter who tried to ask him about this *for **_weeks_* because there is no good answer for it. How can anyone answer for it?
What QB could _possibly_ succeed at any level of football when ordered to not pass to what ends up being the Only Open Receiver on any given play _beforehand?_
I'm not going to go easy on you because I don't even _listen to_ post-game press talks. The only reasons I know what transpired was it obviously wasn't something Fields "decided" to do the First Time he stopped himself passing to an _open_ receiver.
I only caught videos of Eberflus talking because I wanted to hear if reporters would ask him about this "new tendency" Fields had developed (about week 5 of '22) & caught all this BS. About 3 weeks later Fields himself called this out but it was too late. You The Fans had decided that you were siding with Bears' management & that was that. & once people make up their minds *where they stand* they ignore all evidence that proves that stance wrong. Every time a QB struggle’s they say “he’s not good” without looking at all the variables. I think he’s better than both tua and Jalen he just didn’t have the team or the support in Chicago. Watch how much better he becomes in Pittsburgh, very soon he’ll be in MVP conversations

The thing is he has improved he just didn’t improve majorly but you were right all he need was weapons Because in college he had 2-3 first round picks at receiver and had 3,600 yards so he capable for sure but once you switch OC’s your second year there are gonna be growing pains because the offense has different play styles so it might not look like he improved but on the surface he has
& those 1st-rounders are having better seasons than D.J. Moore & Cole Kmet, right? Sometimes I wonder if people hear themselves. It doesn't help that this video keeps holding back. First mentioning Jalen Hurts & Lamar Jackson as examples of what can be done with a supporting cast, then suggesting Fields might not be able to achieve their level.
In '22 with a top-3 WR duo _AND_ the best o-line in the NFL Hurts passed for all of Five More TDs than Fields did. Does anyone think that if they switched teams Hurts would have 17 TDs? Behind _that_ o-line? With Darnell Mooney & Chase Claypool instead of Brown & Smith? That the difference between those 4 receivers is 5 TDs only?
& _then_ one has to take into account play-calling. How is this discussion even remotely complete without discussing play-calling. Those same Eagles went from #1 in the NFC to a laughing stock *with the **_same basic roster_** & only play-calling changing.*
So Hurts still behind the same incredible o-line & with the same top-3 WR duo has his INTs go up 150%. He still has a better o-line & receiving corps than Fields, right? So play-calling makes a difference? So why isn't it a Major Part of this discussion?
If a player is open is JF good enough to get them the ball. DJ Moore had a career year. Mooney had a horrible year. I’ve been watching the All-22 of the 2023 season and this offense is bad. They can’t even throw a screen pass without the line tripping over their own feet.

Outside of andrews, kittle, kelce, hockenson, and laporta. And maybe someone else who I just cant remember. Almost every other tight end is mid at best. Just because you're top 10 doesnt mean you are very good. It just means that your competition outside of 5 guys is bad. IMO
Cole Kmet is arguably Top 10 with Fields at QB, who was arguably the worst QB in the NFL every season since he was drafted. There is room for Kmet to move up with an actual real QB.

Fields could be a pro bowl player with the right ORGANIZATION. If he gets on a team with a great coaching staff and GM he can be successful. Some people will argue why do you need to have a good coaching staff, GM, and players to be good? That’s a really ridiculous question that doesn’t need to be answered.
Given how the Bears have set up their situation with Caleb Williams, JFs was simply a victim of timing. If Ryan Poles was the GM at the time that JFs was selected, it probably would've been a lot different.
In other words if Fields quarterbacked the greatest show on turf Rams, there’s a high chance he’s top 25 in passing efficiency. Lol He’ll likely take a few snaps here and there on gadget plays and spend the rest of his career on the bench when Pittsburgh declines his 5th year option.

This video commentary is inaccurate in so many ways.Using one half of a game in the beginning of the season to define Justin’s play in 2023 is criminal.Justin refused to throw the ball over the middle of the field all season and Darnell Mooney was running open on the field all season.Also Eberflus doesn’t call offensive plays but you said that he did he’s the defensive coordinator 😂… We can always tell when someone didn’t do their homework before making these Vids.
He is a total bust. Literally the worst passer in the NFL in the 4th quarter. He couldn't lead a 2 minute drill in a million tries.
With all that great play-calling like sending All The Receivers right behind the d-line forcing him to either throw the ball so high it would hang in the air long enough for the defenders to have a coffee then get under the ball or risk throwing it just above their heads where they could catch it? It's a wonder each of those passes wasn't a TD.

I don't think PFF bothers to grade blocks that aren't attempted, which is why the Bears aren't The Last Team in o-line efficiency because that's Every Game. He can't finish his drop-backs because he _has to_ scan extra for unblocked rushers Every Single Play to avoid being sacked *before* he can start looking at receivers.
& do I need to go on? I can because "he hands onto the ball too long," & several other accusations are all the end result of play-calling. But I'll leave it there unless you ask for the 'more.'

Justin fields sack percentage since college has been insanely high. He has zero pocket awareness, that’s why there’s 15 clips of him missing open WRs and running directly into a sack

I’m a 40 year Bears fan who watches film. Going over the middle is one of his biggest flaws.

Him and Russ are the same. Both take forever to read, take unnecesary sacks, and holds onto the ball too long.
Russ can unload the ball quickly. I’ve seen him do it. He had quick release times 2018-2020 under Brian Schottenheimer.
Furthermore, Russ released the ball quicker than other QBs who were sacked less, which screams O-line.
Russ is a much more complete and dynamic passer than Fields. They are not the same at all.
To the untrained eye, there may be similarities, but they really aren’t that similar at all. Russ is superior. The slight advantage Fields has in height and athleticism (and it is slight) is not nearly enough to compensate for Russ’s advantages in every other department.
