This is not how it should work but WG can't be bothered to do anything about it i guess, maybe because it's almost never used. I'm really surprised WG didnt do anything to it for equipment 2.0, everything else was changed apart from the core equipment (rammer, vents, stabs, optics, gun laying drive, and of course the spall liner...??). I think skill used to be good back like 4-5 years ago. Not anymore, as also the personality he has formed into this degenerate guy he is now QB on the other hand, he decided to expand to others now which is cool to see... 38:30 spall liner is an interesting concept. I play on console so take this with a grain of salt. From what I can tell, spall liner doesn't reduce HE damage by 50%. What is does do is, if the arty misses you and splashes the ground, then and only then will it cut that damage in half. If the arty, or other HE sources hit you directly, it basically ignores SL. It either works that way, or it deals with calculations for damage of the HE shell. I was reading a forum and it included this information: "So this doesn't just halve the HE alpha damage you take nor does it effect the penetration chance of HE shells. It affects the non-penetrating splash damage impacting on your specific armor. For example if a HE shell will do 1000 dmg on impact, and you have 300mm effective armour at area of impact (which is extremely unlikely), with a heavy spall liner, you will receive 1000/2 - 300x1.5 = 50. However if you don't have it equipped you'll receive 1000/2 - 300 = 200. But the key point is most of the time you don't have 300 effective armor. The majority of tanks have very little armor and also arty lands on your roof/engine bay that's like 30mm. Lets look at that. 1000/2 - 30x1.5=455 with SL. Without its 1000/2 - 30 which is 470." Now that was a year or two ago and that was specifically for WOT console, so again take that with a grain of salt. All and all, its not worth it to reduce HE damage. I haven't seen anything dealing with the decreased ramming damage
