I remember seeing both William Schallert (Mr. Hodges) & Ronnie Claire Edwards (Bootsie) also starred together in another wonderful family classic "The Walton's" I'm so glad that I was able to grow up watching such timeless and wholesome classics such as these. It's so hard to come by good family classic TV anymore. Thank God for apps like UA-cam and others where we are still able to find a few of them.

I hate that Dreama Donathan so much! That was unnecessary for her to rip the flower off Dorothy Jane Torkelson's salvation army cotillion dress! I am so glad that Riley Roberts put Dreama Donathan in her place!
I’ve held the same opinion of her since adolescence. Wtf kinda name is dreama anyway? She’s a nightmare. I hate when people try to embarrass others unnecessarily 😒
This was such a great show. I have fond memories of watching it on the Disney Chanel as a kid. The theme song makes me cry, reminds me of my childhood with my large family. 🥹
Wow. So many little bits came back to me just before they happened. From Chucky Lee going GOoood gooooood, to Mary Sue saying she wants a baby brother and her mom saying no, to Kirby saying "you'll ditch me." Thank you. ❤
It's funny, I haven't seen this show since it aired but for some reason I remembered this episode like I'd seen it 50 times. Good things just stick with you, I guess! :)
If This Show Had Gone On Longer Riley Would've Graduated College And Dorothy Would've Graduated High School Then They Would've Realized They Were Made For Each-Other.
If Dorothy Jane and Riley are different ages wasn't Steve on Full house older than DJ and if that's the case I'm surprised Danny let her date him I think that Milicent could of gave Dorothy Jane a chance to be with Riley but with Kirby he is too immature for Dorothy Jane he nothing like Dorothy Jane just saying

Poor 14 year old girl doesn’t realize the boy next door only treats her like a little sister but she still dramatically fantasize that he is secretly in love with her. Poor girl is in for a painful reality call later on in the series.
I wrote this to tie the first season and the 2nd season together... Mr Wesley Hodges got a heartbreaking news that his step daughter and granddaughter as well as her husband was in a car accident, They told him they where fine except for the husband who might not make it. Soon after he moved be closer to his step daughter and grandchild. He told the Torkelson's that he would miss them a great deal. 2 months before Season 2 Steven Floyd and Ruth Ann moved in with their father. Randy, their father made a lot of money and bought a big house and filed for custody of the children. But only got Steven & Ruth in the deal with the others wanting to stay with their mother. Milicent was so heartbroken she refers Chuckie lee as her only son. With the court costs they lost the last bit of money they had and was unable to pay their mortgage. They found Fred the dog a loving home who took him in. They never told Mr Hodges they lost their home. They didn't want him to feel bad for leaving. This ties the 2 seasons together fairly well and ties up loose ends.
I cannot stand Dreamas smug look on her face but the dance was ruined when Kirby grabbed DJ at the dance at the end and she was humiliated by everyone at the dance with him when she wanted to dance with the most handsome guy in the school Riley
I feel like they should've set it up better. Maybe they could've put in a line or two where Kirby expresses some dread that Dorothy Jane will ditch him to go dance with someone more popular than him. Man, if only they did that, we'd better understand his jealousy at seeing her with Riley.
What the heck happened to Ernie Lively and Benj Thall (the original eldest son of the family) after the pilot? I liked Ernie's character, as he was a sweet and fitting suitor for the mother. Aaron Michael Metchik's character was a bit of a punk! But the biggest change between episodes 1 and 2 was the addition of Mrs. Cora-Beth Godsey from The Waltons! I don't remember her being on this show. Man, she pretty much looked and sounded the same in the '90s as she did in the '70s. Crazy!

The intro gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. I remember loving this show and how wholesome it was.
Yeah, it is touching and funny.

It’s a a shame that they don’t make show like this anymore, clean & wholesome

Yeah, he did care for her. Loving her was a different matter. He thought of her as a friend and a big brother. Remember, he had no siblings himself.
What ever happened to Riley
I like how DJ’s mom said “no” when Mary Sue said I want a baby brother. Her expression was classic.
