That's the incomparable Robbie McIntosh on lead guitar! One of my favorites! I saw him 3 times with McCartney and he was magnificent each time. Very underrated!
When Learning to crawl released I immediately bought it. The Farndon, Scott years were excellent but Chrissie put out a wonderful album with this one and a great way to honor fallen band members. Absolutely classic!
Wow -- that was phenomenal. I was prepared not to like it, what with that cheezy set background. but is was simply great. And Chrissy was smokin' hot in it!
I wouldn't be surprised if this song was all Robbie McIntosh's idea. Watch Robbie show off his mad skills at the end of the song. I'm so glad that Robbie was able to fill in for Jimmy Scott after his untimely death. The Pretenders didn't miss a beat with Robbie McIntosh taking over lead guitar duties for Jimmy Scott.
I try to be fair when I post... With every negative comment a positive one .. But dann I can't find one bad thing to say a out chrissie and pre tenders...
I moved on when 1/2 the band died, though I have to say, they sound as tight now as they did then, and very competent musicians to fill some really huge shoes. Based on all the comments below, and me liking this song in the past, I owe it to myself to get a copy Learning To Crawl...

On it's own a very good album - but then when compared to the first two - it becomes good only. After Honey Man Scott was gone - never the same, not even close. She had MARR for one or two songs, that would have been great "WINDOWS OF THE WORLD" is a great example of former glory - but, for some reason MARR never stayed, and they trudged along with a very long career....
Robbie was smoother and more polished as was Malcolm Foster and their new keyboard player and yet they don't sound as good. Weird right. Sounds like Jimmy Page there at 3:18.
Little Andy, Did you take the short bus to school when you a tike ? Robbie McIntosh is playing a '56 Stratocaster in this vid !! What the hell are you talking about ?
Anybody else thinks she destroyed the Pretenders when she fired the drummer? The next album, Get Close kinda sucked. I remember buying it and looking forward to listening to it because it was a new album after so long. DIssapointing.
Chrissie is such a badass.
Its part Johnny Cash, part Elvis, part New Wave. All genius.
Very well said
sounds like mystery train from elvis
Absolutely brilliant. The more I listen to this song the better it gets.
best period of their music. learning to crawl is one of these rare flawless rock albums, nothing is missing.
Even better than the first two albums???
@@silverwood6705 Yes. They were excellent...LTC is unimpeachable down to its title.

One of the tightest shuffle grooves, and that nice little break.
That was beyond Great…!
Why can’t anyone make music like this any more?
Man they were tight. I miss the eighties.
Not enough comments for such an awesome performance!
This is hard to beat.
Absolutely fabulous. So tight. Love the crash.
Love this. Tempo a bit faster than recording - just a tight, tight group here. This kind of shuffle sounds easy but requires serious chops.
exactly on all counts
As much as I have mad respect for their first two albums, Learning to Crawl could be their best...
I am 59, every now and then I run across a new, modern song that is good like this. They are out there stil😀
That bass part is RIPPIN’!!! The first time I heard this record, I went nuts, all those years ago!
Better than the other guy
Wow, that's a gem.
MARTIN in tip top form...love this era so much....

Best version of The Pretenders greatest rocker..
Brilliant tune!
A great band.
Best Version by the Pretenders
They played this a couple weeks ago in Akron and it was pretty awesome!
Love this album
Great to see this complete. The copy I acquired of this many years ago on VHS starts in progress.
The best
Effing love this band
I love Chrissy so much ! Great lyrics- story telling. I wish Robbie McIntosh had stayed on longer...
He would have if McCartney hadn't come calling with gobs of money in his hand!!

very true and in fact they got tighter and smoother. Robbie was and is a monster guitarist and yet it somehow has lost some rawness and some charm.
has that johnny cash sound to it..love it.
Great observation, Art.
Great tune! Brings to mind Led Zeppelin's Hot Dog. That's a fun song too.

My favorite band, in the 80's, regardless of the shuffling personnel.
exelent memorie
A map of the world, and the place they are going to is Tucson.
Luv Chrissie's Robin Egg Blue Tele
AFTER THE ORIGINAL LINEUP THIS WAS THE NEXT BEST. WISH THEY WOULD OF DONE MORE ALBUMS AND STAYED TOGETHER LONGER IN THIS CONFIGURATION !
Awesome, I never heard it live.

You’ve missed on on 30 years of great music . Their last album from last year is great too. I hope you rediscover them and have fun.
That's an attractive women in every way.
Awesome live!!!!!
Rockabilly meets the 80s.
I was mistakingly thinking Marty Stuart continued the torch of Johhny Cash, when in reality it was Chrissie H. Beforehand
Definately the rockingest of the Pretenders debut album songs!
Their third album.
OK, thanks for the correction!
@@701CPD PRETENDERS and PRETENDERS II still await you!
my rock n roll girl
Love you Chrissie!
Chrissy just rocks!!!!
Road trip tune!
should be on every trucker's playlist, along with Middle of the Road
I love every Pretenders album that has a picture of a band on the cover. After that, I like individual tracks here and there.
Wohhhhh..........linda..........ella,el grupo y porsupuesto su MUSICA!!!!!
Shes our American english rose she should get an obe for services to music come on her majesty
That entire video and you don't see the piano player until it's over!?
Anyway groovy song and Chrissy was/is the queen of cool.
damn!!!
Bravooo0000
Awesome, and super hot Chrissie shaking her hips.
Mr. Precision over there (Robbie)
robbie is walking all over brazil...
who plays lead guitar on this?
Robbie McIntosh is the answer you are looking for.
Weird how she is getting close to new guitar player @ 2:44 with loving eyes, and she NEVER, EVER did that with Jimmy in videos I have seen...
It’s just her being silly. She was very much In love with Jim Kerr at this time and likely pregnant in this video (albeit very early)
@@ozdeveraux2082 I sure will, I buy lots of records since getting a turntable 2 summers ago!
She loved Robbie McIntosh... Out on the road, week after week touring .
Orale chingado, arriendense pa'ca!!
She looks like DAVID CASSIDY!
Hair cut!!
boyish style!!
Is that Chris Thomas (their producer) on the keyboard?
I believe it's Rupert Black, who toured with them from '84-'87.
@@Pibb99 it’s Chris Thomas here. Though you’re right about Rupert Black
