You're doing a great job Tim & Alan. You all work so hard to keep these beautiful buses running so well & clear as a whistle! Keep doing what you do! The banter is fun to watch. 🙂
We had them on the 290 from early 76 replacing RFs at R ,I was 8 then and they looked great in their livery ,after a while they seemed to develop a squeaky suspension ,I moved to a new flat on the main road and you could here them coming 😊😊,Red/white yellow doors best livery LT had 😊
I was at Uxbridge(Denham) garage. A funny garage allocation BL,LS,RM in the mid 80's. Bl's worked the 128 route and where probably the most reliable vehicle's on garage expect for BL94(OJD94R) she was something of a garage queen. We would ask and go and collect parts for said off our London Country garage neighbours at Amersham or Hemel Hempstead for parts. She was just a queen of the pit.
Nice to see you both back. You should consider a milwaukee battery grease gun. They make light work of the many grease points on a Routemaster. Looking forwards to the next video

Generally do the air filter every year. Its a big oil bath type and do the fuel filters every other year. Probably a bit too often given the mileage but all helps to avoid breakdowns
New Sump Plug Gasket ? New Oil Filter Housing Gasket ? If used on the road a lot it would need a chassis clean. For the oil drain get the long funnel on a old oil drum thingy ( theres money in used oil - or it feeds the shop winter boiler !
Yep replaced as a matter of course, didnt do the sump one this time as waiting on some more to come in. Oil filter housing seal I replaced on the video
Probably not but it had done a fair few miles last year as was down in London for a spell and going again later this year. The parts for these gearboxes are getting harder to get so the cleaner the oil the better wear wise, it certainly does it no harm and in the grand scheme of things the cost of the oil is minimal.

I was at Uxbridge from 1981 to 1987 ….. Great Memories ❤
Your doing fantastic so glad I get to watch this again thanks so much for the new channel ❤
Nice to see you both back. You should consider a milwaukee battery grease gun. They make light work of the many grease points on a Routemaster. Looking forwards to the next video

How often do youdofuel and air filters? Nice to meet you both at Llandudno, had a nice chat with dave on the sat
Do you do enough miles to justify new gearbox oil every year? The stuff that came out looked fine.
Probably not but it had done a fair few miles last year as was down in London for a spell and going again later this year. The parts for these gearboxes are getting harder to get so the cleaner the oil the better wear wise, it certainly does it no harm and in the grand scheme of things the cost of the oil is minimal.
Air reservoirs - Gearbox ? Doors ? Brakes ?
Yep thats it!
Are you and collegues going to Routemaster 70 ?
Yes all coming down to RM70
🤗❤️👍💐

No air driers fitted on BL's some LH's have them but at the design spec of the operator

Yep air cleaner done earlier in the year, oil bath type. Oil done less than 12 months ago. Soon goes black in an old diesel

The Gearbox oil looked fairly clean , could have gone another year on your mileage ?
They obviously want it to last forever.
Its done regularly to protect the gearbox. The parts are getting hard to get and fresh oil is allways better, no harm in changing it
@@LondonBusRestoration can't say I blame you.
👊🫡
