Yes, it is very nice. I am not sure if you have been to a place near by in Tanay, Rizal. It is called the geo reserve or something like that. I have not been, but want to go. I think it requires reservations and a minimum of 7 people. If you are ever coming back to this area, we can get a group together and go...just let me know how many you are able to bring and I can try to get the rest. I think that you would love the place. Thanks for sharing.
You are more Filipino than most Filipinos! i hope the world could see how beautiful and how blessed the Philippines is! mabuhi ka kulas! daghang salamat sa imong paghigugma sa atong nasud.
i havent in a festival yet as big as that..it is amazing to see the beauty of our culture that reminds me of being filipino and this is what makes me a filipino... SUPER APIR!!!
AMAZING.!!! got kind of emotional! made me wish I was born in mindanao and able to speak visaya. thanks for sharing all the good things that is mindanao, and visaya! MORE POWER and super great vibes to you!!!
I always get teary-eyed when I watch these kinds of videos. It's so beautiful seeing these people trying to keep their culture and tradition. Because honestly a lot of Filipinos are now disconnected with their roots. A lot of us are modernized and/or westernized.
Thanks for sharing. Didn't know about that festival. Born in Manila and now living in Saskatchewan, Canada. You are an inspiration to us who grew up in the Philippines and not knowing enough of our culture specially in Mindanao.
I think it's about time now that Kulas has to be given with some kind of recognition into his work, particularly on the tourism aspect of his work. This is no denying that Kulas has explored so much in places that we Filipinos dared not to go. The Department of Tourism in the Philippines must recognize the contributions of this humble and adorable guy. Mabuhay ka Kulas!
this is awesome Kulas, thanks for sharing it with us, i'm a Filipino but i never knew about this festival in Bukidnon., I'm so proud that we still have this preserved culture.
Thing about Kaamulan is that it's authentic. Unlike other major festivals in Philippine cities where street dances are often more "Mardi Gras"-ish with only traces of the cultures that inspired them; everything here, the dances, the dress, the music, the rituals, etc. are *very real.* It gives the local Lumad pride and a reason to preserve their cultural heritage.
Can't help myself from getting emotional especially when "Bukidnon, my Home" was sang though we used to sing the english version then in school - actually searched the song in you tube and played it right now. It's been more than 20 years since I've attended Kaamulan and your vlog made me resolve to be there for the festival next year. Kulas, Kaamulan and your positive vibes always make 'Pinas a better place to live in.
an awesome festival. music and dance is universal, and it's great how it can unite tribes to coalesce in love, peace and harmony. laing trabaho nga maayo ang nahimo, si Kulas.
wow! we, from the north didnt know that in particular, thanks kulas for sharing and highlighting it, it makes me emotional and appreciate it really, we also have dance like that way in cordillerans during special occasions but not that massive...so much like it💪👍👍👍
Kulas, I can see your teary eyes while speaking in-front of the camera. I can feel how overwhelming it was, and how much you want everyone to see this to know what you felt right there. So glad you have experienced that moment, it doesn't happen everyday, and it surely doesn't happen to everyone to feel that way. Rock on.
If I am not mistaken, these culture are all pre-spanish era, which means eventhough the Philippines has been colonized by the Spain for three decades (edit: centuries! thanks @Jay Ruben) they haven't forgotten who they are, how they were and what they do in those times.
The dance was also used for practicing old filipino martial arts. The dance was used as cover up, because the spaniards prohibited filipinos to continue their arts of fighting and also their beliefs.
I am so proud of you sir...for I am one of the dancer during this event, and im a local of Bukidnon "my home" but now im working abroad. The positivity and enthusiasm you brought to this video showcase Bukidnon to the Philippines and the world, how art and cultures being treasured and kept from generations to generations. Kaamulan Festival is an ethnic cultural festival held annually in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon in the Philippines from the second half of February to March 10, the anniversary date of the foundation of Bukidnon as a province in 1917. It is held to celebrate the culture and tradition of the seven ethnic tribal groups-Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon and Umayamnon-that originally inhabit the province. It is the only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines.

An awesome display of unity, warmth, and brother/sisterhood. If we could just forget our differences, our arguments, our claims, our angers; if only we could just share, care, unite, and love - as seen even through just this piecemeal of a dance video of the different tribes of Bukidnon - can the Philippines, and the World, for that matter, be an even better place in which to live. Thank you, Kyle for this video. AYOS!!!!! :)
