hey mate need a help with my commy so here's the problem with my vz commodore i have replaced all brand new parts. all the front end bushing, brand new tyres, sway bar links, tie rod end, lower control arms bushing, rubber castor rod bushing. i had wheel alignment and wheel balance already, change the steering fluid, and still having vibration upon braking on downhill. i don't know anything else could possibly wrong 🤷♂️
G'day mate Did you have the disc machined or replaced? Id try taking it to Pedders suspension and brakes they have a rolling road that can test this for you
Theres a little metal retainer clip that fell out as i took the rotor off cant figure out where it goes lol help i think it may have come outa the shoe
Why not take 10 thou off the disk each side on a lathe and clean up the shoe / drum area also with a borer bar, people just throw outb& waste perfectly servicable rotors, sorry but something significant has been lost in the wasteful diy brake jobs these days without using proper machining skills. If you dont have the tools like a highly affordable quality Tawanese ((not Chinese!) lathe then you shouldn't be doing this brake work, any monkey with a wrench can throw on some fresh pads & rotors. I always just freshen up the rotors getting rid of the edges and irregularities while remaining them within minimum specs, a lot of meat to machine on those disks unless you run the pads down to bare metal! Such a shocking waste. PS , handbrake was too tight, should just be free not touching, that's what the lever is for, your just wasting pads also.
Gday Glen Yeah could of machined the rotors For the price and travel time to get the machined its not worth it in my case I was sorting this old Calais for my dad and wanted to upgrade the brakes All the old aparts went to the scrap yard for recycling Not sure what other people do with there old parts Thanks for the tips mate Next time i catch up with dad ill check his handbrake Take it easy mate Byron 👍
Great text book install for the rear brakes.
Grandpa will be wanting to do doughnuts in the carpark next!
He'll be checking it out at Christmas i hope he loves it
