This is very simple and super good tutorial. Thank you Jack.. i have a question, what if i want to track Hotel’s Booking Button where it goes to another URL after we click it? Sample: Almost local hotel’s website in every country they use third party booking system, if we click reserve / book on official hotel website then it goes to another URL which is a booking engine system URL.. can we track our G.ads campaign if the user has complete make a booking through other URL? Not our Thanking page URL?
Hello, and thanks for your comment. That's a bit tricky, if your tracking code is not preset on the external site you're referring to. To the best of our knowledge, this would require some kind of callback mechanism to measure if the visitor has successfully booked. Most booking systems do provide analytic solutions to measure the campaigns/bookings, and you might need to check with them for further details. Hope this helps, and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have questions.
Very useful! Thank you, subed and liked! However following your instruction, getting 'could not connect to my site' error. does the second code need to go into footer? actually even placing in the footer resulting the same error... I'm using free version of Astra theme WP.

One this confuses me. To avoid pasting code from GA4, and Tag Manager, AND Search Console etc. etc. on and on, if we are a WordPress site, shoudn't we FIRST install Google Site Kit, and then let Site Kit deploy Tag Manager, which will then setup GA4, Search Console etc. etc.? It seems like there should be more of an order to all this. Although its nice to have GA4 inside Rank Math wouldn't it be cleaner to have Google Site Kit take care of all this code placement? What order do we do all this in to avoid code all over the place?
Hello, and thank you for your comment. Yes, you can have Google Site Kit setup on your site to configur GA4, Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console. If you prefer to use Site Kit, you can disable the Google Analytics code added by Rank Math. Hope that helps and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
Hello, I have now added analytics to my WordPress site using the site kit. Now I want to connect to analytics by connecting to the tag manager, but how can I do this without deleting my data? Analytics data is important. Also, on my other site, tag Manager codes were added to the theme. If I need to update the theme, the codes will be deleted. Will my analytics data be lost? What if I add the codes again after updating the theme?
Hello, and thank you for your comment. Google Analytics will not delete your data when your switch from Google Site Kit to Google Tag Manager, but you would need to ensure you use the same measurement ID to prevent any disruption in tracking data. To avoid the code being removed every time you update your theme, you can add the code using plugin like Code Snippets. For the newsletter submission form, if I dont add my details to the form but clicked the submit button, would GTM count it as a successful submission since I have already clicked the button, or the form submission needs to be successful for it to count and show up in GA4?
Hello, and thanks for your comment, A successful form submission is typically required for GTM to count it as a conversion. GTM's form submission trigger is designed to fire only when the form data has been successfully sent. To get the most accurate form tracking, it involves pushing data to the data layer upon successful submission. This data is then captured by GTM and sent to GA4. If a user clicks the submit button but the form doesn't validate or submit successfully (due to missing fields, errors, etc.), GTM won't record it as a conversion. Hope this helps.
