Hi Maria. I loved your entry. The first murder ballad I remember as a kid was "Hey Joe" by the Leaves or Tim Rose. Always loved Tom Dooley, and have always loved "Just Like A Woman". What a great song! It never made me sad. How about "Still I'm Sad" by the Yardbirds, or have you ever heard "Ebony Eyes" by the Everly Brothers? Now that's a sad song! I must have seen Harold and Maude in the theaters about 4 times. I loved that movie. I've never seen that soundtrack album before and I don't remember one from back In the day. I'll have to get involved with this thread. I loved your response. Happy Holidays!
@BaldingBoomer. Harold and Maude is a film I've seen many times, but not in the theater. Maybe they'll do a midnight movie sometime. Wishing you happy holidays!
Hi Maria! Thanks for hopping on board this tag and braving the sad waters. That John Hughes box set is cool! You should check out the song “The Body Electric” by Hurray for the Riff Raff. She wrote it as a response (and rebuttal) to murder ballads. Your choice of “Knoxville Girl” was clever. It indeed is a sad (twisted) love song. I had no idea The Lemonheads covered it. I think Big Star’s #1 Record totally makes sense as a rainy day record. Incredibly well thought out answers to these prompts. Great video. Cheers! ✌🏻
@TheDigitalGramophone Thanks! I was meaning to let you know that I had jumped on it. I didn't go into depth on the John Hughes box set because I've shown it multiple times. It is a great listen and it also includes a booklet. I'll check out the rebuttal to Murder ballads. All of this is so interesting. I've found Evan Dando chooses great songs to cover. I've heard him perform songs off of Charles Manson's "Lie".
Hello Maria; Like your choices for the Sad (Lonely) Person vinyl tag.Tom Waits sad, depressed & drinking alone. Chicago, with some heartfelt breakup/maybe get back together songs. Dylan's Sad Eyed Lady Of the Lowlands. Big Star, a unique choice of a sad record. As Elton has sung Sad Songs Say So Much. Good video, take care. Tina & Pat!~
@tinaferrazzoli8006 Hi, Tina & Pat! I had thought about that Elton John song, but I had purged some of his 80's records. Thanks for your always thoughtful comments.
Hi Maria ! # 1 Record by Big Star is definitely very melancholy. The best one minute song ever closes it. The Best Album of 2024 is extremely melancholy - Songs Of A Lost World 🌎 by The Cure. Happy Holidays 🎄 !
@Localbandography "Knoxville Girl" is the only song I listen to that my 89 year old father also knows. I'll bet Sheryl Crowe was great live! Have a great week.
Usually I make comment responses to these tags, but I didn't attempt this one. I guess I just couldn't do "sad bastard". A term I would never use or even think of. Anyway...a fine response by you, Maria!

Hey Maria. Great video! That John Hughes box set looks amazing! Cheers
@@7BobbyGaylor7 It's incredible! I didn't go into depth on it because I've shown it before. Such a great listen.
@ 👍😎
I sang Tom Dooley in grade school too 😂😂
@stereo999 It was such a fun song I never realized what we were singing about.
Well now I’m depressed Maria. I do deem cassettes as worthy to be shown along with CDs. Not big on 8 Tracks though. Nice job with this very sad tag
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 It's the Garth Brooks that was the saddest. Nothing's as sad as country music. Thanks for stopping by.
Appalachian Murder Ballads for the win. I actually saw Cheryl Crow in Daytona and her and the band were great live.

@@mistery-ed7900 Thanks, Ed! I never realized how sad the songs were on that Garth Brooks album.
I don’t know any Garth Brooks. Shiny Happy People is a good choice but I also love the song.
You're a real punk rocker
@vinylrichie007 Check out Garth Brooks' album "The Chase". It'll get sad, so cleanse your palette with "Shiny Happy People"!
