- Here Something different, This is Tonys f250 powered by a mwm 4.2 turbo diesel 6. i upgraded the turbo and street tuned this truck years ago but the "stars aligned" and i was able to throw it on the dyno and try and squeeze some more power out of it.
It’s the 6bt Cummins engine of Brazil. Even tho they make Cummins parts there the mwm is the common engine in the f250 and 90s chevy trucks.
Yeah i see a lot of videos of them in Brazil. Its a shame there isnt more of them around over here and in America
I agree what does that one rev out to? Seems like they rev up to the 4-5k rpm?
@@bluechevycummins5738 looking at the dyno graphs it looks like i was reving it to 4000/4200, which is a little lower then say a td42, but thats all in the pump.
100% sure we don’t have this in the states
I hate that they aren't available in America. Id love to swap one in my f150
Awesome video mate.... thanks for posting.... I just purchased a F250 with a 4.2...havent picked it up yet but your right about no info around well in English anyway.
Has the owner of this truck had any issues with this engine.... I have read they are very reliable I hope they are as info isn't readily available.
Thanks mate, glad you liked the video.
Tony has owned the f250 for a wile now and hasnt had any problems with it that im aware of. They are good motors, just change the oil regularly and it will live a long life
@@RedsProjects Thanks for reply mate.... is it true they have wet sleeves and if so I'm guessing regular coolant changes are a must.
@@roryalgate872 im not sure to tell you the truth, havnt had the head off one.
Either way keeping the coolant fresh is a good idea
@@RedsProjects Hi Mate
Sorry to bother you but where is the thermostat and water pump on these 4.2 mwm.... I just picked mine up and was doing a complete service but I can't find thermostat
@@roryalgate872 sorry mate i cant remeber where everything is, its been a wile since i worked on it.
Next time i see tony i can have a look for you
Wow, a mwm in Australia. This confirms what I had already heard. Which Ford Brazil exported to some countries. Mwm Sprint Here is a very respected engine. There was also a 2.8L 4cyl version used in Chevrolet, Nissan pickups, minibuses and some small VW trucks. The video below shows the vehicles in which these engines were used here: ua-cam.com/video/r9SLRQbPMY8/v-deo.html
Yeah they are a great motor. I'll check out the video soon, looks like a good watch, just need to have the English subtitles on. Thanks
Hey Red thanks for a great vid. Could I get in touch with you with regards to what you've done to this beauty of a machine. Honestly this the first video I've come across in English, I have an F250 (going on 8 years now) with the 4.2 MWM in and want to free up some more power. I am in South Africa
Thanks.
Best way to get in contact with me would be to shoot me a message on reds projects facebook page and we can talk back and forth on messenger
can you get parts, w/pump,engine parts.. i ditched the front of the irfilter, fitted a tdo6 bearing turbo, now has 700 nm, 235 hp. 12.5lt 100..
Mwm é oque manda i love you Brazil
can you still get parts for these engines
I'm not sure, I haven't looked
this is nothing like a 1hz or 4.2td nissan, it has twice the power, & reliablity. no computer,no glow plugs, all mechanical no chains, belts. std is 510nm 140 kw. with a t06 turbo, that goes upto 700 nm, more than a 4.5 tdi toyota. 3 valves, ohc, 3" exhaust, never touch it. its a german tractor engine, built under licence in brazil where there fitted to everything, including chevy suburbans. & there auto, . the fords are 5 sp ZF. with granny first. 4.5t towing. 12.5 lt 100. 4wd..
Yes i agree with you, i was just giving the audience something familiar to compare it to because most of us Aussies have never heard of this motor before
1hz and td42 have no computer are all mechanical, td are all timing gear but 1hz are belt.
you need to watch vids of these in brazil,. they push motor bikes. twin turbo. .80 kw is a sick engine. 135 kw is std. vid. mrDscalco. silverado
Tony showed me couple videos of them in brazil. I think i seen a compond turbo one and a couple others, i have no douht you can make plenty of power with them. When tony is ready we know exactly what todo
@@RedsProjectsfrom comment 1 yr ago.. ive fitted a td06, not really huge or big enough,,but, it now has 700 nm, 235hp... no computer..sad part is, parts availability, brazil might as well be jupiter. i get 12.5 lt 100, it turns better than a 79 series chunk toyota. 4.5, is not,,a v8 diesel. its bs..these engines are a german tractor engine, this is why all the timeing w/pump ect, is at the back.. i wanted one from 2000, but ford said, they dont exist..had mine 6 yrs. 175ks when bought. cab chassis. has 35,s 3'' lift, disc rear from a 5.4. ford focus xr.?. seats, recaro. the air intake comes thru a 2'' hole in grill, i ditched the air box cover, just have the filter. has snorkel but not connected.
Can I mate this engine with my TD42 tranny ?
@Adriansito1506 no idea, anything is possible with enough time and money
You mean to tell me that not just did Australia get all the cool Japanese diesel trucks they got awesome ford trucks with these? This is BS lol
We got Australian delivered f trucks in very small numbers.
My 7.3 would dust that lil truck
Cool
yes,,but,, this is all mechanical, no glow plugs no computer to fk up.. ive had mine for 7 yrs. it has a td06 turbo,, small.. no other mods, 700nm,, more than your 7.3.. 240hp, bit less than your 7.3.. better for 4x4ing,, weighs about 3 t less than a 7.3.. .. a 7.3 will do 1 million miles,,if looked after.. mine is an 02 cab chassis.. 2,9 tray.. great for work, & cheap.......er than a 7.3.. ford didnt push these trucks, 4.2tdi,, as they were in bed with international harvester,, not brazil.. 14 lt 100.. 35,s. 4.11 diffs.
Very unreliable engines, they were imported to south africa too. But most people replace theirs with 6bt.
@@elleweevanzyl1432 what makes them unreliable?
