I've been tryin HARD to resist getting this pack so soon - trying to be patient about it - but I really want it, especially after reading the prequel book 'against the tide' that features the sisters and their relationship quite a bit. The craft also turned out beautifully.

One could even get extra fancy and incorporate the wave doll stand permanently into the top of the water on the play set. This is SUPER cool, and I’m really happy to see the mermaid sisters reviewed. I was on the fence about this pack (I also wish they had arm articulation, and don’t really like the printed fabric tails), but seeing how beautiful they are IRL has convinced me. If you ever want to do a video about giving some kind of Glo up to the fabric tails I’d be very interested lol.

I remembered this channel randomly at 4 am last night while i was cutting up a clothing piece and sewing a bunch of random things on it. I am 21 years old now and I used to watch this channel religiously as a 11-14 yr old. I would attempt following the tutorials except i would hot glue everything together AND my mom would constantly complain that i wiped my dolls makeup with acetone only to repaint them hideously 🫣 I was basically raised by this woman and I blame her for my craftiness and style (and my hoarding tendencies haha). but im so glad that I found it again these videos genuinely feel like home to me ❤️❤️

I haven't verified yet, but I think each of the sisters is supposed to be a reference to one of the sea or ocean. The one I'm especially thinking about is her sister Caspia, like the Caspian sea. Edit, I quickly searched tamika and indira's signification, those names doesn't look like they're linked to a sea or the marine world. Maybe they just wanted some culturally acurate names for representations of seas or continents ? I would have loved an effort to find some sea related names in several languages :p

In the 80s and early 90s they marketed The Little Mermaid with merchandise more than any other movie, I think, until Lion King. Of course, some claim that was the first of the “Disney Renaissance” movies. According to some Disney animators, however, The Great Mouse Detective was the start of that period. I have SO many original Ariel dolls; original, original but metallic I believe, on land pink dress Ariel, wedding dress Ariel. There were sets with Sebastian or Flounder. The only sister, unfortunately, found around here was Arista; probably because she was featured in one of the TV series episodes. And she was a special edition, not the movie/series style. Then they eventually came out with “fashion packs” so you could get different dresses and especially tails. Someone MIGHT have been Little Mermaid obsessed in the 80s. 😏 We would’ve LOVED made to move dolls. The first like that was in the 90s and she was a skater with large (nice) flat feet.

I got the Ariel & friends seaprises treasure chests by Jakks toys there’s 8 to collect come in a box of 12. I’m hoping they make a wave 2 with Vanessa, the other 3 sisters, and Eric. I skipped skuttles in wave 1 (gold). They’re $6.99 each at Target. With teeny tiny charms I’m making my own bracelets with the figures.

I appreciate the different tail designs, colors and even ethnicity of the Mermaid Sisters, but why did they change the names of Ariel's sisters from having names with A to just random names? Was it confusing for the Disney Staff to remember all of the sisters' names that has A as the first letter, or is it just an idea they decided to do? I do wish that the sisters had different body types and height differences as well, at least in doll form. I think one of Ariel's sisters had a slight curvy body type in the animated movie, right? And I just had a thought, any chance you can scan the backgrounds from doll packaging on the scanner, then touch up/edit out the holes and print said background out? Sorry if it's confusing, I just thought maybe photoshopping the background of the doll packaging might be helpful and useful.

I saw a video of another collector that was changing the arms for articulated ones for these mermaids. She was also putting them in hot water to soften. If you try it then you'll have the articulation you want. Hugs
Hello, thank you for the video! Tameka's face and hair are beautiful! I do wish that the remake had kept their old names though, I liked everyone having an "A" name. I also like the joint in the tail so they can bend, I would have liked to see that in the individually sold dolls too. Plus arm articulation. Your craft came out really well too, it's amazing how you can take some box cutouts and some well placed props and make such a beautiful scene!
