I love making my own TV dinners. Prepping meals is something I love doing and it makes everything so much easier at mealtime. Thank you for sharing your recipe. I've written it in my cookbook to try soon.
You are really blessed to have 2 fridges and an ice chest! My wife and I just bought a home built in 1900 and are renovating it. We only have 1 fridge, the freezer is packed. We can't afford a chest freezer but it's the dream! Maybe one day 😊for the first time in my life since childhood, I finally have an out building! We want to fill it with preps and a chest freezer one day. Right now it has all my rainy day canned foods. When we first got married, she didn't understand why I had to much "extra food" .. we hit HARD times a few weeks back, and she gets it now! We actually wanted a trailer but the bank wouldn't approve us for one. We got lucky enough to find a little 2 bedroom cottage on a lovely lot, but it has been in a bad grease fire, so I can finally have a garden! I remember watching these videos when I rented and wondering if I'd ever have a little homestead. Always count your blessings! I know I'm blessed. People always want more more more! I'm just happy to have a roof over our heads. It needs a lot of work but I enjoy seeing your positive outlook, compared to people these days! You don't run into too many people who are humble and realize, each of us could always have it a lot worse. Stay blessed, tessie
tessie, have you ever considered flattening out ground beef before freezing? That's what I do. It defrosts in a half hour well wrapped in a large bowl of cold water. I have the convenience of a vacuum food sealer so there's no freezer burn. The bags, which are washable and reusable if desired, have a space on them to write the contents and date. It simplifies life.
Yep. I'm in the same boat. My freezers are really full. I've cut my grocery budget for the first quarter of 2023 to $100 a month so that I can use items in the freezers, rather than spend money that I don't need to.
Cleaning out and organizing the freezer is a job I don’t like to do. But so satisfying when it’s done. Had to organize my freezer before new years. Too many left overs from thanksgiving and Christmas. Feels good to have everything organized and labeled with plan to use in the next few months.
Tessie, That is a great way to use up food from the freezer making those TV dinners ready to heat and eat very convenient quick meals that is what I call planning thinking ahead out of the box I need to check my freezer now and see what I can make :-) Love you my sister :-) God Bless You and Ken :-) Tessie hope you got my birthday card :-)
Tessie, I hope that you are saving your egg shells for your garden or even if you have your own chickens. You bake them for a little bit and then crumble them and give them back to the chickens. You can even take the egg shells after you bake them and crush them into a powder and turn it into a calcium supplement for yourself, which is more easily digestible than the store bought stuff.
I'm going 2 make meatloaf for my hubby and my Service Dog,I can't have meat ,im good w that, but ,just having that homesmell makes me happy. I never eat out so I'm always looking for 💡 ideas🙃Thanks ,love it!
I've been making meatloaf in parchment cupcake cups. Easy to freeze too. Two of them are just the right size for Mom. Next time I'm going to try your pineapple recipe to see if she likes it, I know she loves pineapple. I know I'll like it. TFS
The table looks lovely and inviting with the quilt pattern and 2 oil lamps. Pineapple meatballs 😋 yummy! We will all be right on over to help you eat, ahem, I mean make them.
I have the microwaveable version of those containers. When there are not enough leftovers for another meal, I use them for the containers and freeze them. I then take them to work with me for lunch.
Might mention. When money is tight. Process all the food in fridge and freezers(can, hydrate, etc.). Clean and unplug those appliances once emptied. Ready to use when you need them, but multiple appliances adds up on electric bill.
Hi Tessie from Louisville, KY. I have been binge watching your videos! I love them. I love you because you are so real!! You tell it like it is and yes, you can because , as you say, you live it. I think instead of mobile home life you should say mobile home palace. Your home and property are beautiful 🤗 You have truly been an inspiration to me. I am 67 and still learning from you. Stay who you are Tessie. We need more people like you in today’s world.
Those tv dinners look so good. I need to follow your example and make them as would be so much easier on busy days. I am going to defrost some ground meat! Thanks for the showing us!
LOL. You make meatloaf the same way I do….with my hands. We defrost and clean our freezer every January when it’s cold enough to keep our food frozen. It always feels so good to have it done!
Those dinners look fabulous & they are large !!! I took about 10 lbs of figs out of my freezer . Today I made & canned 18 half pints of Hot Pepper Fig Jam !
I empty freezers and fridges beginning of November and process the food for pantry.. Clean and unplug. Saves on electric. No worry of winter power outages. And cold enough i can use a camping cooler just out back door for perishables we buy and use constantly.
❤ I love you and I love your home you make such a comfort and then I scenery of your home you have to diligence and creating a nice ambience and taking care of everything you do and still making it look. Very homey thank you for sharing it just wants to make me shit visit you if you allowed it thank you for sharing your experiences sincerely Liz
I am currently dehydrating canned fruit that is close to expiration dates. 6 round trays. Next is 6 trays of almost expired canned veggies...the liquid will be frozen to add to soups and stews that I will be canning through the winter .
I have that book "Homemade" too. Love all the recipes in it, plus the idea of making what I need if it's either unavailable or too expensive, which is exactly what we're going through right now!
I’ve been making freezer meals from leftovers for quite a while due to watching you. It saves me money and time and to be honest, before most of my leftovers got thrown in the trash as they became inedible.I love your addition of pineapple to the meatloaf and meatballs, and have made it your way a few times soooo good.❤️
Well since it is over here 01:00 AM at the 12th of January, I would like to say 'Happy Birthday Tessie' :) Before the energy prices went sky high over here I used pretty much every up that was in one of my freezers, so I could switch the larger one off. Good job Tessie. Those meals look delicious. Such a time saver and so much healthier than store bought dinners. Thanks for sharing Tessie. Have a blessed day friend
I agree I make my husbands dinners to take out on the road he is out 60-90 days and since I am making dinner for the two grown kids and myself I make him a serving and freeze it once I have 20 he try’s to get a load coming thru to give me his empty freezer containers and I load him back up, way cheaper and healthier than eating in the truckstops.
Oh that looked so delicious! Your home made TV dinners reminds me of the TV dinners I had when I was little. Back in the day before microwaves, they came in the metal trays and offered much bigger serving sizes than the ones you see today. I am going to try your recipe because it looked so yummy. When I run low on ground beef or chuck, I buy in bulk pre frozen because I use it so often. At the same time I buy about 15 lbs of fresh ground. With that, I make a roaster full of meatballs, which I bake and bag into meal size bags, some ground beef with onion and freeze into 1 and 2 # packages for quick casseroles, and whatever is leftover I make into meatloaf which I slice and freeze or salisbury steak to freeze. It gets used up very quickly on days I'm on the run all day.
Tessie Your meals look great. I try to do the same thing for my husband and I. Tonight we had baked chicken with other sides from my freezer. Great time saver I agree.
Now I just rewatched and saw you made meatloaf instead of meatballs. That's ok because I needed to watch a 2nd time anyway. I love either kind of mashed potatoes, real or instant. I really need to make me up some tv dinners ahead of time. You did remind me it's time to defrost my mama's small chest freezer also. I try to do it 2 times a year but last year I only did it once.
