Nah, he's the one that's picking the younger players cuz he wants it to be his team in the long run. The expectations to win a trophy might be unfair, but don't think asking for 4-6 placing and winning against the likes of Ipswich and Palace is unreasonable. Spurs got to have at least some defensive mindfulness but Ange refuses to be flexible.

This! We need real change, all the way through the club. His football is amazing when it works. Yes it needs tweaking (which he does) it’s just a narrative because it writes a better story. Aussie up start thinks he knows best fails.
I am fed up with the mentality, even down to wanting to lose to city, fair play to him for calling that sh1t out. Let’s change the club from mediocre to winners, Ange is trying to disrupt by demanding more. Real change takes either massive money, which we don’t have it seems, or time, patience and courage and a young squad that matures and grows.

Levy only cares about buying cheap prospects he can turn over for profit & that's why we've often ended up with players like that, even in positions we didn't need.
It's not a football club, it's speculative investing & if you want to see how stupid Tottenham's board really is the proof is in them repeatedly thinking they can do that when they never do what's actually needed for on-pitch success, effectively blocking their own investments from sufficiently gaining value.

Ange should not be sacked, at least not until the end of the season. As I have said before if he fails to secure a European place through league position or winning a cup a case can be made for his removal PROVIDED a suitable alternative is available and willing to take on the job. That cant be guaranteed and a third season may allow Ange to achieve his objectives.

  • @JesseFinkBooks

Correction. The result was 4-3. To be honest I was surprised Ange didn’t make changes earlier when Chelsea scored their first goal. His changes came far too late. But he also doesn’t have the cattle on the bench unlike Maresca, who has enough players to pick from to create five teams. And this is why Ange did what he did. That failure to create depth is Levy’s alone.

He's right in that if you have 20-24 relatively top players, ie 2 full squads, you can play the high-line pressing game for 90 min and cope with the injuries you're bound to get. Postecoglu had that in the much weaker leagues in Japan and Scotland. He doesn't have it in the Spurs squad in the much harder PL. He got away with it for the first 10 games when most o the players were fit and then the injuries started, The squad can't cope and it's been mainly downhill since. Either he changes tactics (and he said he won't) or Levy spends 100s of millions on several top players to bolster the squad and you know he won't). Things not looking good!

Chances and opportunities squandered by both ,but they had more again , the opposite of Angeball as front foot attacking domination absent . Jackson and Sancho so many easy out balls , then add our sloppy give away pens and 3 injures, it was a recurring nightmare . Naturally losing both CB's and natural RW more salt into a painfully wounding week.

It’s called honesty, integrity, confidence and belief in something that has worked everywhere he’s gone. Some say “farmers league!!”. He has access to some of the best players and skill in the world now and he’s having a crack. He has a philosophy that he won’t change, but he does tweak. Like he said last year…. We are at broad strokes first season then details come later. They’re all still learning but Europe with thin squad and limited rotations is killing the sustainability of this system right now. He needs at least another 3 windows to get this thing humming. AND a supportive fanbase that can ride out the tough rebuild

I actually think Johan Lange is more at fault as he is responsible for player identification and squad building. I feel a lot of our purchases are reactionary, rather than being proactive. Right now there is no contingency for injured players, replacing unwanted players or a succession plan for the older members of the squad.
The recruitment team need to invest in both short and long term prospects like identifying players to fill temporary needs if we cannot get our ideal targets, investing in either superior players to improve the starting 11 or bringing in starting quality rotational players and players with different and unique qualities not present in the squad.
We need leaders in the team eg, Keane, Viera, Terry, Baresi, Adams etc. and practically a 2nd 11 of starting quality players.
Needs : Ball playing (#6), Destroyer (#6) Right Back (#2), Left Back (#3), Left Centre Back (4)
    Luxuries : GK (#1), Left Winger (#11) , Right Winger (#7), Striker (#9), Midfielder (#8)
Cardoso, Wharton, Angel Gomes, Vanderson, Kerkez, Dorgu, Hincapie, Zabarnyi, Gueuhi, Tapsoba, Inacio, Chevaliar, Trafford, Patterson, Kvaratsheklia, Williams, Semenyo, Davids, Gyokeres, Sesko, Eze, ...

LOOK! Guys, it's not rocket science. Had we wanted to be competitive already this season Ange would have needed 3 more quality signings (Eze, Neto, Isak-types, rdy made players to start now or come in as impact subs like Brennan), likely Cardoso for that mf depth and security and possibly a lcb/lb combo also for depth.
NOW, Levy didn't give Ange that budget..., so here we are. With lots of really promising players and perhaps a few more looking to bloom in a few years. But for the now, in the Ange-ball turbo system..., we are not deep enough and we don't have enough many quality/impactful players atm for a true/real challenge.
That is where we are at now. Unless we spend more, it's gonna be a waiting and hoping game.
If anyone, the greed of Levy limits us.
Ofc, u could laborate with some kind of more compact mid-block after gaining a lead from where u counterattack. U could have targeted presses, when the targeted players get the ball on their weak side etc as not to have that moronic solo-press from Solanke with no other wingers following his press...
I would love some more coolness at the back, always taking it down to the keeper, going left and right and then when pressure is drawn find that harder, straight throughball to break 1 or 2 lines with one good Romero pass and get a 3-4 or 5 - 4 or 4-4 almost like a counter attack. A bit like prime Tuchel's Cheslea, play with the opp, let them chase and when they come for the high press just play over or through them vertically.
And we need those fresh 5-7 high impact subs (Brennen typically etc) to come in rested or at least not too exhausted around the 65th minute to sustain the pressure or chase a lead effectively. Now..., we just peter out slowly, even if we have solid players on the pitch, they just don't have juice enough to sustain the crazy turbo-Angeball for the full 97 mins or so.

I think the problem is for Ange or part of, is there’s no easy games in the Prem, Ange ball needs players playing fast paced football to work. In Scotland or other leagues you get games where if you only play at 80 percent you get away with it, but not in this league.
Now that’s the problem with Ange, the problem with Spurs is the club won’t spend the money so that the squad is good enough to make changes in the team so that you can play Angeball every game.
I am not a professional football so I don’t know if the lads are right that when you go two nil up you should change the way you are playing, logic would say you keep doing the same thing, but for Spurs that doesn’t seem to work.
Do we sack Ange ? Tbh I haven’t got a clue, but the bigger question is if we do who comes in, & who can gets us up at the top given the way the club works ? Levy seems to think we should get CL football every season but if I bought a ford I wouldn’t expect to beat a guy in a high powered sports car in a race, so why does he ?
Until something changes at the very top nothing will change sadly. Coys

Buut. It seems as though there is some kind of agenda behind the scenes. Is it players? Is it DL and Enic? Impossible to say. Buut I think that Ange is being turned into a scapegoat just like Poch were. Granted, Ange is stubborn at times and perhaps should adapt a bit more than he actually does (he does adapt as opposed to claims of all those "plan B" moaners). Buut. He does choose the starting 11 and perhaps, probably, he could be more wise/creative/brave there. Buut. However, it aint his fault that morons like Sarr and Bissouma make such stupid, STUPID decisions like they did! I never like to excuse managers, give them alibies and such. And am not trying to do so with Ange. Buut we need to cut him some slack. I mean, do we really talk about winning the league this year? Are we? No! So what gives!? Manure are dropping points, man sheety is dropping point (title contenders!), nowcastle, villa are dropping points! Buut? Why is Ange getting so much stick? It sickens be to the bone. Yes, I am frystrated with current form, yes it infuriates me how stupid we are at times. Buut. NO, I am NOT for ANGE out. Cut the man some slack and let him "get out of jail", we are still in ALL competitions. Will Fulham, Forrest even Brighton keep their flying form for the whole/rest of the season? No way. Buut. Will Spurs turn things around? Absolutely sure of that. Specially that the transfer window is just around the corner. And we could make some interesting additions. Buut. So, everybody out there, please, pretty please, with sugar on top, get TF of off Ange´s back. Buut?

The fact is Levy, as much as I blame him for most of our troubles, is not going anywhere. This means we need a manager that is tactically astute to adapt and affect games and improve players. While being able to work within the financial constraints Levy imposes. Ange isn’t that guy. It’s as simple as that.
