His selflish act to play the mental victim card, and keep the huge money Pies gave him was a disgrace! I think it played a big part in the Firesale we had... Fuck Beames!
Love the amount of content you guys are pumping out. Don’t burn yourself out! This is quality stuff! Beams definitely felt like a trade stemming from hype, I do remember him playing good in the beginning of the 2019 season up until he had issues with his hip.
@@PiesFooty after watching the vid to the end I have to agree. We really scored on the deal overall. I was really happy Beamsy came back to the pies at the time. Like everyone I was disappointed with the outcome, but the man's health is what's important. We won a flag. Greenwood was great for us. Love what Crispy does for us week in and week out. Jordys just a gun so I think we really won that deal
@@MichaelNolan-z2t It's rather ironic that Crispy and JDG came to the Pies courtesy of Brisbane and they were both enormous in defeating the Lions in the Grand Final.
Another excellent analysis Anthony and one that points out both sides of the Beams' trades. The trade that sent him to Brisbane was probably one of the best that Collingwood has ever done whereas the one that brought him back was one of the worst. We are all wise in hind sight but at the time, like most Collingwood supporters, I was rapt that he was coming back. No one was to know just badly things would turn out. One thing that's never been clear is what sort of payout he received and how it affected the salary cap. I cringe whenever I think of 2020 trade period and wonder how much of the salary cap over-run was due to paying out a player who was no longer at the club.
Is the payout similar to what we are paying for Grundy not to be at Collingwood and what about Stephenson, do you know if we are we paying for him at all? I suggest the club does not do any more 5 year deals!!
Exactly Kelstra! Hindsight is 20/20! He was playing well, despite external adversities. Unforunately, the damn wall broke when he returned to Victoria. It is what it is, I guess!
@@claudialeibel6932 I agree that there shouldn't be any more long term deals which is rather ironic given that a couple have just gone down in the last day or so - fortunately with other clubs. I don't believe the club have ever contributed to Stephenson's salary at North - actually that trade wasn't quite so bad as they did get something for him. The Treloar one was anything but of course - nothing in return and contributing to his salary.
We all know why he came back, Eddie promised to pay his gambling debts off if he came back, played 9 games and played the mental health card. Dogged Eddie and dogged Collingwood. Used everyone and everything around him to solve his personal bullshit. Good riddance
Certainly one of the possible narratives that could've occurred during that time. Hard to knock him though given the amount of adversity he was dealing with. Thankfully, everything worked out for Collingwood, with a flag in 2023!
When you consider that we spent 4 1st round, and 2 2nd round picks on Treloar, Aish & Beams, yet none of them are still at the club, there were some terrible decisions made under the previous regime
Great vid bro, it's a 50/50. The 2014 trade the team got players that were in the next premiership side, the 2018 trade cost Collingwood alot and they had to let Adam Treloar, Jadin Stephenson and i think Brodie Grundy which was a negative at the time but again hindsight is a wonderful thing
I think Collingwood need to keep their first rounders because our list is getting a bit older. Bailey Smith trade value should be lower because of the ACL injury.
I can't remember exactly but I think Beams was still really good, like Brisbane's best player good, when we made the trade, but it just went pear shaped... but in theory we were adding an elite player to a GF side, so you have to look at the upside.
@@joeyjoejoejunior3859 I can actually agree to this a little... felt like a luxury trad at the time, but he wasn't a big need. He was an elite goal kicking mid though, so it's the type of thing you just do.
@@ChristianComito-e7dHopefully we can get Logan McDonald somehow but I doubt that will happen. Collingwood should ask the question about Max King, the saints are not utilising him properly.
Wasn’t aware of the Quyanor and Greenwood aspects so feel a bit better about it. Selwood rarely gave the Pies trouble after Greenwood came to the club. ps you forgot to mention Beam’s dodgy hip which the Pies were apparently aware of before bringing him back.
Trade to Lions was a Very Good One but Bringing Him Back did the Complete Opposite was a Terrible trade to bring him back. Thanks to Eddie making the Club get him back
As disastrous as it seems on paper we are the reigning Premiers... would any of us go back in time and change anything? because maybe you don't win it at all if you mess with the Butterfly effect.
So much better than Swoop Luke
Said this a couple of weeks ago... Swoop is a deadset drainer. No insight. Just a nuffie
Real
Why even mention it unless he's gotten in your head?
I like swoop. Both channels are great

Thanks Kream! appreciate the support :) A tough one in the end, as he had one of his best seasons before moving to the pies!
Finally a vid on this trade, ive been talking about this since the 2018 gf
Much needed! Time to unwind ahah
The Universe heard you dude.
We buggered ourselves up there. Real shame as I love Beamsy. Absolute gun player. Hope he's doing well and got his health sorted.
Such a tough one to concede! There were wins and losses throughout the entirety of the the two trades!

Great video mate, De Goeys 2022 Qualifying final (26 disposals 2 goals) and Semi final ( 24 disposals 12 score involvements) are also worth noting.
Thanks Archie! There you go, a few more games that indicate De Goey is such a great 'Go to' player in times of need!!

Thanks Kris!! It means a lot 🙏🏽
Honestly i think this trade costed us Tom Lynch
In the end we still won the flag in 2023! Not the worst outcome 🙏🏽

Off topic but they also should of let Brodie Grundy walk back then, Adelaide offered 2 1st rounders which ended up being two top ten picks.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. If only Grundy and his Bloodsucking manager didn’t take Collingwood to the bank
Now that's 100%accurate bro. 😊
He was playing so well and I remember everyone was over the moon when we re-signed him. Always an interesting conversation that one!

Grundy was one of the reasons most of them left, was taking up too much cap space
Beams reason going home was 100% okay with me as Sad Circumstances

We’ll have Tom McGuane next year, I showed his numbers to a former Coates League Player and he said he has the numbers of a Top 10 Pick

At the time, I was genuinely surprised we took him back. I didn't think we needed him. We had a pretty good midfield at the time.

When we could’ve used the first rounders to trade in Steven May, the answer is the trade was a disaster
We got Roughead for pennies, so we got the key defender we needed. What we needed more than a midfielder was a big key forward.
