- The Defence Secretary is reportedly furious over reports that the Army is considering relaxing security clearance for overseas recruits to enhance diversity and inclusion.
The UK's Armed Forces, facing recruitment challenges, are seeking diversity by looking abroad. The Sunday Telegraph claims to have seen a document titled "The British Army's Race Action Plan," outlining actions to boost representation and challenging security clearance as a barrier for non-UK recruits.
Grant Shapps expressed strong opposition, stating there would be no lowering of security clearance requirements under his watch. He has ordered a comprehensive review of ethnicity, diversity, and inclusivity policies in defence.

The lack of recruiting more men and women in the Arrmy is probably in part, of the lack of care for treating soldiers who came back suffering with PTSD. Look around at the numbers of veterans who are homeless and becoming drug addicted or alcoholics in trying to drown out the horrors of what they have seen and been forced to do as in killing people who they do not know or be killed themselves. How many of these veterans have made themselves homrs for fear of harming their families because the Government do not even care about.

Why is diversity even considered? I don't care if everyone on the forces is white, black, or any other group. They just better be the best.
Why join the army when you will be better off and paid more for simply being a cleaner? Don't have your own time to yourself. Building full of asbestos, Potential to lose your life or see your friends lose theirs. And finally, if you leave or get injured they seem to very quickly forget about you.

Why on Earth are we trying to recruit foreigners from abroad into the Armed Forces, don't we have a large enough pool of them here already to draw from? With the exception of the Gurkhas, we should be easily capable of filling the ranks of our incredibly mediocre-sized army anyway.
My point exactly. If the Armed Forces need to “ reflect the society it serves” then they should Come from the UK society not from overseas. We already have Commonwealth exchange programs. If BAME don’t want to join then we have an even deeper problem .

Why do we need more foreigners? It’s the British Armed Forces! We also have uniform dress standards, clean cut hair and properly shaved. This is a standard that should not be deviated from regardless of religion or cultures. You want to serve in the British Armed Forces then adhere to those standards, if not look else where for a career. It’s not discrimination, it’s a standard set by the organization, if you don’t agree with , or can’t comply, don’t join. Then there are fitness standards, there can be no lowering of recruiting standards to allow unfit people to the ranks. Shape up or ship out.
Recruiting is definitely not a problem, retention is the issue. Address the problems of retaining trained personnel and recruitment will take care of itself. It’s the trained personnel that will bring family and friends to the recruiters, but only if it’s deemed a worthwhile career path, and as it stands this is not the case.
22 years service to the crown and it pains me to see the state of the armed forces of today. We need hard fighting men, not men in skirts.

Remember the crap equipment our soldiers had in the 90s onwards. The US had solid floored vehicles. We had tin foil . Our legs got blown off. Rifles that jammed. No decent bullet proof vests. Everything's gone to shite.

The armed forces should be about being an effective fighting force. You need to recruit warriors, not pander to the SJW agenda. As a 22 year veteran who left in the last decade, I tell you now the moral will certainly be rock bottom, specially if Woke recruits are given a free pass or standard have been lowered "Just to tick boxes", while junior and Senior NCOs have to cater for them.

The Army probably have to sign up veterans who are willing to fill the gaps and relieve personal on duties such as Stores, MT and any other duties so the more capable young soldiers can concentrate on soldiering.
