Have you tried applying for Medicare? That's the Federal medical insurance. Here's the link - www.medicare.gov/eligibilitypremiumcalc/#eligibility I get both Medicare and Medicaid through my state and am classified as completely disabled with post-polio syndrome. They make you jump through a lot of hoops to get it with doctors' exams and such, but it's worth it. There's also S.S.D.I. - www.ssa.gov/disability/disability.html I also receive this plus EBT benefits since I cannot work anymore. You can apply for any and all if you're disabled. Utility bills can also be lowered by simply calling the company in question and explaining your situation to them. A temporary living arrangement can be made with public housing facilities until you can afford the R.V. These are rental units based on income and overseen by the state, so they're generally well-maintained and clean with your only real bill being the rent itself. Utilities are paid. Here's where I live - handicap accessible and actually quite nice as far as the neighbors are concerned. www.santamariaapts.com/ Podiatrist and nurse on staff. These units are not enormous - 650 sq. feet - but they're quite comfortable and extremely safe. Something I learned when I got divorced was that if you have an outstanding bill there can be no legal collection proceeding as long as you make a legitimate attempt to pay on the balance of that bill. What that means is that if you're strapped for cash and have a big electric bill, you don't have to pay it all. You can pay $5.00. Same for the phone, the gas and your other utilities as well. Chuck-eye steak - As delicious as a ribeye, about half the price and just the right size for one person.
@@mynewme8759 Well, Poopsiebuttons, if you're disabled enough to need surgery to correct a problem, it's likely you're disabled enough to get benefits. I applied for mine when I was still in my 50's, and while I understand that you're still too young for Medicare at 29, a disability is a disability.
I LOVE shorthand! I think I was in the last class to have it in high school. Then I had it in college, as an office management major, but I think I was probably the last class to have it there also. I never got very fast at it but I enjoyed it. Interesting to note that it wasn't the computer that killed shorthand, but the dictaphone, which was a cassette tape recorder (often a tiny little minicassette). When you played it back, as you typed, you could control the playback speed. The goal was to play the audio at a rate that allowed you to keep typing as fast as you could. Then it was the computer that removed the need for the dictaphone. The boss could type his own letters! He could type a rough draft and let the secretary polish it, print it and mail it (and now of course we email everything.) OK that's more history than anyone wanted to know, but it was fun for me to type it out.
I love it!! It's been so handy my whole life, not just for work, but classes and personal. And no one can read my inner most thoughts as I put them in my journal. lol
You know shorthand?! That's phenomenal! A lost art. Brought back fond childhood memories. My mom's best friend was a legal secretary and wrote in shorthand. I used to ask her to show me how. Brenda you are amazing...so many talents we haven't even seen yet...You and "the Boy" have my best wishes! Let go of regrets...we did the best we could at the time. I became a single parent of 3 girls (they were 12, 10 and 18 months) when my husband just left one day. I made mistakes. We all did...So, give yourself some grace! I'm 63 years old...when I look back over my life I thank God I'm still here to give it another try. Be blessed.
Siobhan Fogarty shorthand was used back in the older days to take notes or letters. It is called shorthand and it is a code of sorts. After the notes with shorthand were taken, they would type the transcribed notes, letters or whatever on a typewriter. Gawd I am old.
Yes!! Shorthand is a sound based alphabet. Each symbol represents a spoken sound or combination of sounds. So you only write what you hear. It's really a lot of fun to use.
You have nice hands, just wanted to say. The shorthand demo was great. I never saw anyone do that, and I certainly can't read diddly of it. I am very impressed!
The lady has skills!! :-D I was mesmerised watching you doing all that shorthand hehe. Great news that your health is stable just now, and your procedure went well. yaaay! Thank you so much for the inspiration today. I've been 'failing' badly at something for a long time but now I'm looking at it with a different perspective. I'll keep trying and have planned something different to try for today. Loads of love to you all :-D xxxxxx
Yay for trying something different!! I'm so happy to hear that. And glad you liked watching the shorthand. It's not quite the same as clouds, but hoped I wouldn't boor people to sleep. lol I really do hope that your trying works out for you!! And thank you for always being here with us!!
I lost track of you after "the Best Christmas ever". I see I have a lot to catch up on. I'm so proud of you. I wish I could figure out as much as you have. I can't figure out "UA-cam" other to use it for entertainment and information on projects. Keep on doing what you're doing at your own pace. The government so many people suffer while the rich keep getting richer.
South Dakota and Nevada are good places to check for doing your residency and mail forwarding.. Also you need to check in to getting SSI.. Which automatically qualifies you for state insurance.. Was your heart condition and not being able to work you are automatically qualified for SSI
Hi Brenda. Don't be hard on yourself - that's the outrageously unfair, spiteful system's job. I'm always blown away by your courage, I really am. I know there are struggles we don't see - like most of us - but I know you inspire others, myself included. Your RV dream is part of you, and I know you'll get where you need to be. Many hugs from across the pond xxxx
You've been doing some thinking, too. I believe in you, lady. Bravo for wanting more than just "coping", and for speaking it out loud, so others can benefit. I love that heart of yours. 😎👍❤
I haven’t done shorthand since HS vocational school. Should have kept it up but it was never needed in the workplace. I was so fast the teacher had to send off for cassettes for me to transcribe from lol.
hahaha I was much faster when I was younger than I am now. But it does what I need it to. Works great in doctors' offices when they start rattling stuff off at you. lol
I took shorthand in high school, I was a dismal failure -- dropped the class because I knew I'd never grasp the concept. Typing was my thing, did 100 wpm first semester. Long story short typing made me my living all my adult life. I got into computers early, had a knack for word processing, and the rest was history. On yeah, in all my working life nobody every asked if I knew shorthand, by the time I entered the workforce everyone was using Dictaphones. I couldn't make out a thing while you were writing, but I bet your penmanship is stellar!
Haha!! It's a language all its own. It has been very helpful throughout my whole life. And I just enjoy using it. Typing has been a huge help, as well. I'll always remember the first time I used an electric typewriter after learning on a manual one. My fingers FLEW over those keys. lol
Dear Brenda thank you so so much for sharing with us. I didnt understand the shorthad writing but it was interesting to see :) Have blessed day you and the boy.
@@eileenriker6465 That's where I'm at. I'm at the point where they don't believe what my dozen doctors have said and what their tests have shown. Just because it's a little unusual. You'd think the money came out of that guy's pocket. Instead of, like you said, what I've paid into for 40 years. lol
@@mynewme8759 You need to definitely get a lawyer to help you get your disability. To do it alone it's very very very long process. Definitely get a lawyer.
Brenda, my neck is a little tired from all the nodding I did while watching this. What you were saying at the end about being proactive and not just accepting what gets pushed your way...when I had that realization in my own life, my way of saying was that I needed to happen to life, instead of continuing to let life happen to me. Also, I think chatty shorthand works just fine. Can't read a word of it, but that doesn't matter.
Our library was cleaning out, and I purchased a shorthand book. I never learned it, but my grandkids will have no idea what I'm talking about when I tell them about secretarial pools and people who scribe in shorthand. Whoo!
BRENDA!!!!!!!!!!! I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wrote a joke; Why did Gordon Ramsay cross the road? The chicken reverted. BWAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Short hand, a lost art form like handwritten letters! Everything will work out! How about look into the RV sites that will hire you as caretaker? In many your rent/utilities are free or discounted while you are there.
That's our plan. Workamping to support us while we're traveling. Well, the Boy workamping to support us. lol I love shorthand. It's so useful!! Thank you!!
@@OhItsJustMe2 You can find shorthand books at thrift stores. You'd be surprised how quickly it comes back. I'm always thinking of how I would write a word or phrase in shorthand. My mom still writes notes to herself in shorthand, and she's nearly 89!
This is so cool to hear......er read. Shorthand has been very useful to me over the years. During classes, learning a new job, notes at doctor appointments, many times. And writing things you don't want anyone else to read. lol
@@mynewme8759 Yes, it comes in very handy! If you enjoy it, I think it's easy to learn. I took shorthand for a year in high school and loved it from the start.
i live full time in a 40ft toy hauler in texas, mine is paid off and i go through a local insurance here and pay $20 a month for my camper, its not an easy road to live full time in a camper, i wish yall the very best, big hugs
Sounds like you're doing your research. It's more complicated than I thought when I started to look into it: finding a permanent address to use, finding a company to forward mail, insurance, trusted repair shops, safe camping, etc. Sometimes I wonder who actually gets help from social services. A friend of mine has Obama Care and it never seems to help her with anything. She can't even afford to go to the doctor.
I know. It seems like the only thing ObamaCare did was to increase the premiums of everyone else. I know mine shot up when I was working and it went live. It is complicated. Luckily, not all of it has to be done first thing. And some of this would have happened no matter what we chose to do.
Many nomads use Christian Healthcare Medical Cost Sharing. I did see a lot of I's in your journal. I took Gregg Diamond Jubilee shorthand, but always had trouble reading it back if I waited too long to transcribe it.
Haha. I was the same way until I did it a lot. And somethings I just couldn't write comfortably the way it was taught to me, it just didn't flow right. So I made up my own, faster symbols for them. lol
Shorthand is an interesting lost skill. I love the way you incorporated it and showcased it in this video. That's what I mean by your creativity. It's through the roof. You need to be working as a creative talent on film production as you are a natural talent...seriously.
You are very kind!! Thank you!! I'm not sure about talent. More like, lets throw it at the wall and see if it sticks type of thing maybe? lol But thank you!! I really do enjoy using shorthand.
If your RV life ever takes you to Tennessee I would love to sit and talk philosophy with you over a nice cup of coffee. You have a lot of wisdom and we women of a cough...certain age...sometimes stumble upon some of the most profound truths.
First of all, let me say how incredibly happy I am to hear that your last medical procedure went well and that you’re feeling better. That is such wonderful news! Second, I want to say that what you said about not trying really struck a chord with me. Most of my regrets in life are also centered around things I didn’t do rather than things I did do. You’re so right. We need to brave! Yet again, dear lady, you inspire me! Third, I will put out many positive thoughts so that you will get this medical insurance issue taken care of. 🙏🏼 And last, I learned shorthand in high school many, many, many years ago. As my attempt to read what you write shows, I’ve forgotten every last bit of it!
Thank you so so much for your wonderful words!! It still find it hard to believe that I actually inspire people. And thank you for the positive thoughts!! I love using shorthand, it really has been so useful most of my life.
Brenda, try calling Farm Bureau before you decide. I've been with them for yrs with my cars and every time I compare they are always cheaper. Not sure about RV's but I can ask my daughter who works for an RV dealer for years.
As far as medical insurance, look into Medishare. It is a Christian coop kind of thing and my brother has used it to cover his family for a long time. It is also nationwide coverage I believe.
Yes!!! I just recently went on long term disability and cobra was quoted to me at $800 a month!!! Are you kidding that’s insane I was payint $85 a month before I went on leave from work. Good luck i hope you find something it isn’t fair
Sorry to hear about the slumlords and stuff I have missed some videos so yesterday I started to do a My New Me marathon and re watched some videos and watching what I have missed. Not fully caught up yet But I will be soon :) Yes there's always soo much to keep track of and I truly hope and have full faith that you will find insurances that will suit your needs. The RV life used to be a dream of mine too but it has now shifted so now I hope to start a BnB I am just trying to find the money but having dreams and feeling like it is close to happening is sooo exciting. Even with the troubles hitting over and over you can always dream and try to go for them. Finding new paths to get to the place you want to be is a challenge and it can be discouraging when obstacles keeps piling up. But hten I try to look back and see how far I've come and how much I've been through and I'm still around so why should I give up now and I get some more fighting spirit and I move on. Venting helps and a lot of times I feel like when I am talking about troubles with friends I see things diffrently and I sometimes see something that I had missed before. It's like I take it out of my head and heart and put it infront of me and can watch it with different eyes. Hope for the best for you, the Boy and the kittycats. Lots of purrrss, mews and a little woff from my pets to yours and a huge warm hug from me to you. I'm gonna continue my "My new Me" marathon now, hope to see more new videos soon too.
Yay for marathons!! lol I hope your dream comes true, too!! And that it's all you hope it will be!! Thank you for wanting to spend so much time with us. lol And for your wonderful words!!
I hope everything works out for you. I've seen people living the nomadic lifestyle even with health issues. It seemed to actually help them because they seemed to be happier living life to the fullest and on their terms.
WOW, Brenda you look so well rested and happy! That last procedure did wonders for you. Honestly, you look and sound so upbeat and excited for the future. Glad your health has finally turned the corner for you. Thanks for the update and glad you feel better! BTW, I have Progressive.
Thank you!!! For a procedure that they didn't think would do much, it has made a huge difference. And I think being so excited about everything that's coming up in our future definitely helps. lol
Have you tried the Healthcare Marketplace? My daughter is aging out of coverage and COBRA would be close to $700.00 month. With the Marketplace depending on your income you can get a discount on the premium.
Thanks for your videos my husband and I are interested in RV life also so it's fun to watch others who are also thinking of doing this. This insurance info is helpful. I agree on the computer tech. Stuff have to have my 19 and 25 year old show me how to work mine sometimes on the more complicated things.
Just a thought. have you considered the cost of gas for an RV class C. It could be you might get 10 MPG. Also you might have your son apply for the camp jobs now as they are going to be gone if you wait too long. Some camp sites alone can be a wait list for a year. If he can't get one of those jobs will you have income without it to survive .
Hi Brenda, Great video hope you get your insurances sorted soon. I think I have missed quite a few of your videos which I am going to catch up on, My Mum recently passed away which is why Ive been a bit absent. I wish I could have picked up shorthand it was just one of those things I just couldnt grasp, I had several lessons at school many years ago but to no avail. xx
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My heart goes out to you, it's never easy!! You're in my thoughts. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment while you're going through such grief!!!
I'm a New subscriber here! Cobra is extremely expensive, back in 88 when I was off on medical leave it was $280 a month so 30 years later I can't even imagine what it would be...
That's what I'm hearing. Hopefully, we won't have to resort to Cobra. And welcome to my chaos!! I hope you enjoy my videos....and cats!! lol Thank you for subscribing!
Brenda! I'm a long time watcher, first time commenter. I love that you journal in shorthand! I took it in high school and loved it! (Gregg). You have inspired me in a lot of ways and now I can add journaling in shorthand to the list, lol. I must brush up and enjoy it for myself again! Sending love to you all!
My older sister writes shorthand in her diary too. I took shop after getting kicked out of the typing and shorthand class so I didn't learn it. If this doesn't work then we just try, try again.
How long ago was this? Maybe it's been fixed in the past couple of weeks? Hopefully!! The hold on everything while they rewrite laws has only been going on for a couple of months, I believe. Prior to that, it was very easy to become a resident of Florida.
Come to Michigan in the fall. You can go to theUpper Peninsula and visit all the waterfalls and lighthouses.I live on a private lake in mid Michigan y'all a welcome to camp for awhile.Chin scratches for the Kitty's.
I am sure you have been looking at the Escapees group. They have offers for members that include insurances (auto, RV, medical, etc.) Don't forget that you MUST have Emergency Road Service for your RV. Not expensive, and an absolute necessity. Also investigate the FMCA (Family Motor Coach Also.) For retired people, South Dakota is a very friendly state to establish residency. Very good tax rates, very reasonable vehicle registration, excellent mail forwarding services in Sioux Falls and Box Elder (near Rapid City). We were South Dakota residents for about 7 years while we were on the road full time. Escapees are located in Livingston, Texas, and also have a mail forwarding service, but their driver's licensing is more difficult. Sounds like you are doing good research!
Excellent advice!! Thank you!! Can I ask a question? I've always understood that Good Sam's Club was a great roadside service. But have recently been hearing some not so great things about them. Is it just negative people making negative comments? Or has Good Sam gone downhill that much? If you know. Thanks!!
@@MrsBear-sv6wo The bug is named for it's favorite tree. "The Box Elder is a species of maple native to North America. Box elder, boxelder maple, ash-leaved maple, and maple ash are among its common names in the United States; in Canada it is commonly known as Manitoba maple[3] and occasionally as elf maple; in the United Kingdom and Ireland it is known as ashleaf maple." If you travel I-25 in New Mexico, you will go past the towns of Elephant Butte and Truth or Consequences. If you travel in Arkansas, you will see towns named Bee Gum or Toad Suck. EVERY state has a name that makes you laugh out loud! We lived for 5 years on the road. It was a delight and an education.
@@mynewme8759 We used Good Sam exclusively for our time on the road and later, when we were only part time. If I only needed to use them once a year, it more than paid for the cost of the service. Our response times varied, depending on just WHERE we broke down! If we were near a major city, odds were better that we would get a mechanic in short order. If we were in the back of beyond, the wait could be longer. We always had knowledgeable people respond. But ... it is very helpful if you (or The Boy) have a fair idea in your head about what is the problem! We belonged to an Owner's Forum that was all about our make of RV. If we posted a question about a problem, we usually had a response in short order. Our rig was fairly proprietary, so that was helpful info to pass on to any repairman who arrived and saved them time in diagnosing. If you belong to forums like Escapes, FMCA, or any that are devoted to your brand of motorhome, you can do the same thing. There is likely to be someone with the same make, model, and year who has suffered the same issue. RVers stick together!! As to whether Good Sam has suffered in it's Customer Service ... that is a small worry. If you don't like them after you experience their service, check out Coachnet and change. Just don't leave home without it!
I have been looking into those. And asking in the forums how folks are making out with them. If anyone has health issues and how well they're working out. Thank you very much for the suggestions!!
There is no state income tax in Florida, either. There is no tax on food, unless you eat out. It's great. I live here. It's cheaper than many other places.

I am on SS retirement disability. With your litanny of problems you qualify. But filing it yourself & getting rejected usually helps before you get an attorney. Wish I could help you on getting RV insurance, I'm a licensed agent. Usually though, if RVs are considered high risk you have to go through the State Insurance pool. You don't buy collision on a low blue book value vehicle, it's a waste of money. You DO want comprehensive because it covers liability & things like vandalism & windshields. USAA might be a good company, also Liberty Mutual. The way you see what you're actually covered for is to check the exclusions - on ANY policies you're offered - health or auto/home.💜
I've heard that. We're working towards getting a good insurance policy for both of us. However, in a pinch, at least he'll have some coverage. I should have explained that more clearly in the video. Sorry. And thanks!!

Katie Naylor ours was going to be over 1,300 a month, years ago... We could never do Cobra...Brenda u will go into shock when u read his cobra papers....
Brenda, do you qualify for total disability SSDI? You can get Medicate coverage after 2 years. It wouldn't solve today's issue but it's there for the future?!
That is very expensive, try Travellers insurance best rate I've found yet, but auto insurance also goes by your record, e.g. accidents, speeding tickets or points on your licence, aslo credit score.
I have a feeling this is going to fall on deaf ears, but don't do it. This is a bad move. You said that twenty-four year olds can do just about anything and that's the truth. Twenty-four year olds doing what you're planning don't have a tenth to lose what you will if this fails. I don't know how religious you are but I'm sure you have a lot of people praying for you and these road blocks you're running into maybe Devine intervention. I would heed that. You're getting your life together now. It's time to slow down and focus on getting a place that will be perfect for you. It seems to me that every move you've made has been rushed and you were always in emergency and desperation mode. Stop the craziness and don't live on hope and a prayer anymore, because the prayer may just be being answered in the form of these road blocks that you're running into. God may be saying that he has something better planned for you. Maybe a nice place that will fill your needs and maybe in the future an rv you can travel with. the difference is that you will have a place there to always come back to. Just slow down.
I need to add that if I were you I'd put my name into some co-op townhouses which charge rent according to your financial situation. Usually there's a waiting list. Usually they're two bedroom with a 1/2 bath on the lower and a full bath upstairs. Get settled and start looking for a small camper. Have the boy continue to work to save for a truck to pull it. Meanwhile go to thrift stores and garage sales to find your supplies. A friend of mine got an old camper for a steal and fixed it up really cute. The range didn't work so the used crockpots and roasters. It had running water, a shower, and a toilet, plus electricity, provided by the campgrounds. I went with them and it was a great time. It may not be the nomad life you're dreaming of, but you'll have a townhouse to go back to. Sometimes the second best is the best choice. Also the difference sometimes with the Haves and the Have Nots are wise choices and a little patience.
That's the site medicaid told me to check into. But you only qualify for it if you qualify for medicaid? I got quite the run around from them. Thank you for the suggestion, though!
@@mynewme8759 Healthcare.gov is where you apply if you make too much for Medicaid. Just apply for your self your household is the people on your tax return. I assume you and your son file separate tax returns, so just apply for yourself. You are your own household. I paid 81.00 per month for a local policy Silver plan. The tax credit was about 700.00 per month. They don't advise you. You need to go to an insurance agent's office to get advice, or find a "navigator" for ACA. The online application ends with your looking at policies. You can pause and compare save and ponder, then go back and submit. The application process will tell you that you may be eligible for medicaid if you make too little money. I kept opening the application to report a change, and change what I thought I would make until I qualified for ACA.(this is a mysterious amount that goes up every year) I always managed to actually earn enough and once a bit more, so it all worked out. Choose the lowest amount that qualifies unless you are sure that you make much much more. I was always working with $500.00 more or less. This got settled at tax time. What you need to remember is the application is asking you to predict your income for the next year. So, predict enough money, and make sure you manage to earn it. - Best Advice: find an ACA navigator. The rules have been messed with lately.
@@mynewme8759 Absolutely she is correct about applying for Affordable Care Act Health Insurance. There are plans that you can possibly get a subsidy for. Meaning a discount off the monthly premium you will owe. Very important to contact them directly. There are individuals there at their office that can help you complete an application over the phone. They do not charge for helping you. A private insurance company helping you complete the application will definitely most likely charge a fee for helping you complete application. So definitely go through the HealthCare.Gov. Site. Their phone number is 1-800-318-2596.
Thank you, both of you!! Very good information. I think I was doing the wrong thing when I first tried that last month. Both of your comments are going in my notes so I can refer to them. Thanks, again!!
@@mynewme8759 When you call HealthCare.com explain to them that you haven't received SS Disability as of yet; but you need to apply for Health Insurance for yourself. They will ask what your income was from last year's income taxes. They go by the income tax amount the year before to figure your income. They should also go over all health insurance plans they offer in your area. They should tell you if you qualify for a subsidy toward your monthly premium. This subsidy lowers your monthly premium payment for health insurance. You will pick it up at end of year on your income taxes as income. They will send a completed tax form showing the amount you received throughout year for total subsidies monthly. You will file that information with your income taxes. The monthly subsidy can be a huge savings toward your monthly premium expense. It's based on your past years income on income taxes you did. Very important to get someone to help you through this process with HealthCare.Com.
Thank you!! It seems like I've heard of Vanderbilt before. Maybe someone I know went there for something?? I'm not sure, but it's definitely ringing a bell.

Have you tried applying for Medicare? That's the Federal medical insurance. Here's the link - www.medicare.gov/eligibilitypremiumcalc/#eligibility
I get both Medicare and Medicaid through my state and am classified as completely disabled with post-polio syndrome.

We've been working on disability. I'm too young for Medicare without the disability attached.
@@mynewme8759 Well, Poopsiebuttons, if you're disabled enough to need surgery to correct a problem, it's likely you're disabled enough to get benefits. Hahahaha 29. Again, I love you!!!
Uh ohhhh.......lights are flickering again.
Awesome! I used shorthand in my first job out of high school back in the '70s!! It was great to see you using it!
Be blessed.
So cool watching you write shorthand. Didn't understand any of it but it didn't matter. Lol.
Haha!! I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's always been a joy for me, and very useful!!
Siobhan Fogarty shorthand was used back in the older days to take notes or letters. It is called shorthand and it is a code of sorts. After the notes with shorthand were taken, they would type the transcribed notes, letters or whatever on a typewriter. Gawd I am old.
Mary Pettinari I use to watch my older sister doing shorthand homework. I think it is now a lost art.
Yes!! Shorthand is a sound based alphabet. Each symbol represents a spoken sound or combination of sounds. So you only write what you hear. It's really a lot of fun to use.
My sister took it in high school, but I didn't - and have often wished I had!
You have nice hands, just wanted to say. The shorthand demo was great. I never saw anyone do that, and I certainly can't read diddly of it. I am very impressed!
Haha!! Thank you!! It has been very helpful throughout my life. And no one can read my journal. lol
Thank you for sharing really miss you and the boy

South Dakota and Nevada are good places to check for doing your residency and mail forwarding.. Also you need to check in to getting SSI.. Which automatically qualifies you for state insurance.. Was your heart condition and not being able to work you are automatically qualified for SSI
Good to know! Thank you!! Unfortunately, disability doesn't seem to think I'm automatically qualified. lol But I haven't given up on it yet.

Oh my goodness I’ve never seen shorthand written out! Now I must spend the next day obsessed over this!
Haha!! I love using it!!

Just wanted to say hi - and I love you guys. x Mel
Our library was cleaning out, and I purchased a shorthand book. I never learned it, but my grandkids will have no idea what I'm talking about when I tell them about secretarial pools and people who scribe in shorthand. Whoo!
Brenda, you know what the saying is: "We plan and God laughs". Take care and god bless

And last, I learned shorthand in high school many, many, many years ago. As my attempt to read what you write shows, I’ve forgotten every last bit of it!
Thank you so so much for your wonderful words!! It still find it hard to believe that I actually inspire people. And thank you for the positive thoughts!! I love using shorthand, it really has been so useful most of my life.

What about residence of record in Texas? No state income tax. Consider the medical share companies.
That's one of the reasons we were considering Florida. That and their health insurance. But......they had to go and rewrite their laws. Jeez. lol

Thank You! I have been my moms caretaker for the last 12 years. I have 3 kids 2 going to college and 1 with Autism. my mom has been a major controller of my life.(before she got ill) now that she is much worse (Dementia) she needs more care than i can give(she lives alone and refuses to live with me, shes too independent but prefers to have me go to her house every day). I haven't been able to do any other job thus keeping me in low income. Now that it is a possibility that she is going into a long term home care i was asked by the social worker(who is a friend), what do I want to do for a career i was forced to say out loud what I wanted to do. and I didn't know, I have always taken care of family and not had dreams of my own. I have always love secretarial work you know the 9-5 job that when you leave for the day you don't have to worry that the office would need you at 2 am....I have never had a vacation, or a day off in over 12 years. You have talked about dreams and taking control of your dreams and Thank you for voicing that for me too listen to ,it helps to hear other people have a hard time realizing their dreams, it doesn't make you a bad person to want to have your dreams fulfilled. Thank You and I pray your dreams come true. We have to take back the power over our lives and sometimes all we need is to give ourselves the Permission to do it.
You hit the nail right on the head. I'm so happy to hear I've helped you!! Thank you for that! It is hard to convince ourselves that we do deserve our dreams. I cared for my parents, too, until they just needed more help than I was able to give them while working full time. You do deserve your dream and do deserve to live your own life. I'm wishing for all the best for you in your future!! Don't be afraid to try!!! And if that doesn't work, try something else!!
I live in Florida - it's a tough state. I am up for a job that would put me in Alaska for four months and then Washington for eight months...I have always wanted to go out west..lucky for me, Alaska will be during the summer. My only advice..plan during the summer because it gets HOT...try coolworks.com...your son and you might be able to travel the states working just by that wonderful site.

Good Am. Your son's COBRA will be very expensive. Could be at least 400-700 a month. Many people who stop working cannot afford COBRA.
I've heard that. We're working towards getting a good insurance policy for both of us. However, in a pinch, at least he'll have some coverage. I should have explained that more clearly in the video. Sorry. And thanks!!

I live in central Illinois, and our - ah-hem - wise school district decided some years ago that they no longer need to teach children to read or write cursive. They reasoned that with everything being done on computers people will no longer need to know cursive writing. Bullpucky! Hard to believe but true, I swear to God. My 2 oldest grandchildren just graduated this year as the 1st class of kids here that doesn't know how to read or write cursive. Can't even sign their name!
Oh jeez. Makes sense, doesn't it? Ours did the same. So my sister started teaching her own class after school to those who were interested. And had more students than she could handle. So apparently the parents and kids were still interested. lol

I'm sorry. I'm honestly not stressed, I'm still excited about our future. And what will happen will happen. You can get a mortgage type payment on a mobile home when it’s your only place of residence.
For insurance?

It might cost less for Josh to get insurance through the State Affordable Care Act( Obamacare). Cobra is very expensive. It would cost whatever he is paying now plus what his employer pays plus 2%.I work in benefit administration so I see the cost of Cobra. I think you might have mentioned this before but, have you really pursued trying to get Medicare disability? I would think you would easily qualify but I know it can be a pain to go through the long process. But it may be worth it in the long run because you would get Medicare plus a monthly disability check. Good luck with everything, I know it can be complicated.
Thank you very much for the advice!! I have been fighting the disability fight. Haven't given up yet, I'm sure I'm greyer because of it. lol A lot of people have been saying the Cobra is expensive, which I didn't realize. So that's very good to hear. Not really sure if it's typical. Mine was when I still had the loan on it. That's annual price.
Are you applying through Healthcare.gov?
So, predict enough
money, and make sure you manage to earn it.
Site. Their phone number is
1-800-318-2596.

@@mynewme8759 When you call
HealthCare.com explain to them that you haven't received SS Disability as of yet; but you need to apply for Health Insurance for yourself.
