The Neptunes which Pharrell is a part of produced "What Happened To That Boy" which was a song with Birdman and Clipse from 2002. It's rumored that Birdman never paid what he was supposed to for it (Which happened a lot). Pharrell rarely worked with anyone from Cash Money after that (And Young Money). After that Clipse made "Mr Me Too" about Lil Wayne copying Pharrell's style when he started wearing Bape and skateboarding. Wayne and Push had subs back and forth for a while and then Pusha released “Exodus 23:1” Wayne dropped "Ghoulish". Somewhere in that time Drake started subbing Pusha T which lead to their beef. Exodus 23:1 is the original reference for the line "You was signed to a ...."

I can think of two things re: the Pharrell diss: 1) Pharrell and Pusha T are close friends, and their careers are tightly linked. The Neptunes (Pharrell and Chad Hugo) fully produced Clipse's first three albums and continues to produce a lot of Pusha's output. 2) Pharrell succeeded Virgil Abloh at Loius Vuitton as the creative director of menswear. Drake has taken to shouting out Virgil in his songs and parade him posthumously (IIRC he had sculptures of V at his shows). I believe the Utopia track coincided with Pharrell's first runway show.
What's real corny was Drake bragging about buying Pharrell's chains at a charity auction and then melting them to make the point that he doesn't respect Pharrell's appointment at LV. Drake is such a weird man. Dude is like one of those right wingers burning their own shoes because Nike supported Kaepernick.
All I have to say about it is how dare someone of Drake's calibre disrespect Pharrell! Respect the greats.

The Joel Osteen/ Haley Joel Osment was a wild entendre too if I am not stretching. I think that Kendrick didn't make a mistake . It was on purpose. Osment played in AI, so referring to Drake using AI while Kdot's 6th sense told him to end Drake(off him). That same actor played in 6th sense, which had to do with ghosts(Drake's ghost writers).Which ties to the narrative about Drake being a manipulator, pacifier, like the prosperity preacher Joel Osteen. I personally thought it was a genuine mistake by kendrick in a way of him being too black to really know the actors correct name by heart or maybe even just confusing two famous white guys.
