Didgeridoo Tutorial: Improve Your Sound with Mouth Shape/Compression

- This video covers an elusive concept I have been playing with off and on ever since Dubravko talked about it in his masterclass and online, Robet Jerele offered me a private Skype session to explore it, and Andrea Furlan hinted at it during a lesson with him as well. Compression is what I'm talking about, although I have the sense it's much more than just "compressed air" while playing. Watch to see what I mean!

This explaination helps so much for what I'm working on right now. Thank you!
I love your videos, started playing in January and you were the most helpful in YT. I'm constantly improving my sound and my coordination, but I can sustain a pretty cool drone indefinately and create gentle beautiful soundscapes surprising myself on every session. Thanks!!
Sharing our learning process is beautiful maaaaan! Keep doing yew buddy, raw and honest
David you are a gifted teacher. Thank you!
Hey mate gday from down under. Not sure what flack you've copped but from my perspective ,I think your a great teacher and an awesome didge player. Thanks for your vids, I'm a big fan. (And a dreamer of owning a hardfibreglass didge ) cheers Chris
Your videos help me so much. Thank you!!!!my mind is literally blown every night when I learn a new technique from you!
Hello ,is it a specialy adjusted mouthpiece you are using?
This is great! Thank you, good sir!
Thx for this lesson
THANK YOU! Im starting with the didge and as Im learning new rythms and stuff I think "yeah i think i got it but it doesnt sound as slick as when youtuber x does it, is it the low quality beginner didge or is it me?" I gotta apply your suggestions as soon as the house wakes up
A lot of more subtle sounds are picked up by a microphone, too. Record one of your practice sessions and you'll be surprised at what you hear!
Waiting to receive my first Didge and will love to learn from you. I’ll check out your
Patreon site.
❤️🥰😍
Okay so I joined your Patreon, not much but if we could all get together and support each other that would be great!
Hey, thanks for joining! Did you do so under a different name? Let me know what kind of support you're seeking!
@@Breathwood might be Bill Gammon lol both are my real name
When doing "ee" sounds I tend toward an "r" at the end, as in "ear." Not sure what's happening in the mouth, but I like the result. Try it and see if it helps. "Tu wah kee" becomes "Tu wah keer."
Yes, I love adding the r. It's basically a variation of a curved tongue position which can be explore from the front to the back of the mouth for different effects. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, I have a yudaki and was wondering what video to start with, I have basic drone and can't get the breathing correct. Please help. Cheers Steve
Thank you, great info, I’m with my Didge right here practicing with you along the video. I will have a look “petreon” Right now. Cheers

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment! And yes, please let me know if you have any questions about Patreon! Let me know how I can support your process as well!
Thanks for your work !!!!!
always happy to see your vids pop up in my feed. great stuff as always :)
Aw thanks! Glad you enjoy them! Do you take this approach when playing?
@@Breathwood im mostly self taught through youtube vids and figuring stuff out on my own. i kinda used this compression technique subconsciously but seeing it explained is helpful. being more aware of whats happening helps me improve :)
Awesome session! Very informative, as usual!
Thanks so much! How's this approach working out for you?
@@Breathwood I've been definitely feeling this lack of color in the sound you talk about and I've been trying to focus the air more but only using the lips. Hearing you explain in detail the whole process definitely gave me some food for thought. Will try first thing tomorrow morning!
This is the proper time to also mention that you've helped me a lot through your videos when i was starting out on the didge, so a big, big thank you is in order! :) :)
What is the best website to buy a didgeridoo?
Oh man, that's a huge question! Let's start with where you live! That will affect my recommendation.
Zach Horn go to spirit gallery here in Australia
