So, I love these ideas and I sat down to make a few of these cards myself, using black solid stamp images I already owned. I found that when you heat emboss the black image BEFORE ink blending, the ink color also covers the embossed image with a layer of ink. Then, wiping off that layer of ink on top of the embossing causes the ink to come off the background as well, around the image. It was really messy for me. Instead, I found that it works better to do the ink background first, let it dry for two hours or so, and do the heat embossing at the end, on top of the ink background. My image is crisp and clean.
I don't know how you can keep coming up with so many ideas - let alone have time to make all these amazing cards! Always look forward to your videos! Have a great day, Jennifer!
I love silhouette images and these cards are amazing. I can't wait to try the ink blending. Your tutorials are my favorite. Love your creativity and artistry.
So beautiful in a simple kind of way. I will be trying this. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us Jennifer. Also, thank you for always inspiring me! 😊
Wow I love these cards, especially the ones with flowers. I have got to make a sympathy card and I think following your clear instructions I should be able to make one of these. Thank you for inspiration.
The silhouette idea is so cute!! I would have never thought of that on my own, but when you showed them side by side at the beginning, I thought to myself, "I bet she just colored the image with black!" Great idea, Jenn!!
Hi Jennifer ~ I have to admit that when I see your name pop up in my YT feed, it feels a little like my birthday morning as a child. I always know I'm in for a treat. I've done some of this type of coloring/blending with silhouette images but have never tried coloring in an image that wasn't a silhouette. I'm definitely going to try this with a couple of different images with my Oxide inks (which I absolutely LOVE!). Thanks so much for sharing and I look forward to your next video. ~HUGS~ #kindnessmatters
I love you projects and finally broke down and bought some distress oxide inks, I love them. I started with 3 and will probably add more a little at a time.
Wonderful ideas, beautifully rendered as usual! Just a warning to those who might have to order Molotow masking pens from away - if there is any chance they will freeze en route, do not buy them. If they freeze the seize!
Yaaaas! I've been trying to come up with a way to use my Spectrum Noir Black Sparkle Pen - which has been harder to do than it seems since it's pretty opaque when it's put down. As you well know, the control when coloring with the Spectrum Noir pens can be tricky so this is perfect if I pair it with the right image. Muchas!
I absolutely agree, they are awesome! I am definitely going to have a go a the technique myself. I was thinking that Christmas colour inks with Christmas silohettes such as a christmas tree, holly or mistletoe would work well. If I do these i will send you photos of the results.
Gorgeous cards, as usual! I've used photopolymer stamps with my Misti, but upside down, so you get the black image! That way you can use the embossing powder as well. The only thing is, the picture is reversed, but it saves. you colouring.
I thought the same thing at first, but most stamps are wider on the back than the actual stamping image on the front. Therefore, you will not get the same detail.
Great idea! I really love the result. One question, in the black cat you've used a Copic marker, we can use another type of marker, like tombow?? or a water based marker?? Thanks
Lovely effects. Question: instead of inking first (like on the flowers) can you just color the card completely, stamp and then color in with black? Thank you again for the inspiration.
Love these cards! I wish I had imagination like yours. And the ability to do heat embossing that actually becomes shiny without burning the card and ending up flat, or not setting at all - how do you do it?
Very cool...I was wondering, if you use the stamp of the cat, but put it in your Misti up side down. You would get a slightly bigger image, backwards also. Hummm I should try it lol.
Love this idea, you are so creative! 😊 This post it tape you use is the same as masking tape? If don't, masking tape work just fine as your post it tape seems to do? Oh, and sorry for having so many questions, but could I emboss using Archival or it doesn't stay wet long enough? Thanks for sharing your creations with us!
Is there a big difference between the Nuvo glaze drops and the Nuvo jewel drops? I can never decide between those products or just the Glossy accents. Loved the video and cards of course ❤️
If you have a silhouette stamp, is there a reason why you wouldn't do the background first with the Distress Oxide inks, then stamp in VersaFine Black ink after, (with or without adding embossing)?
Not only beautiful but also a whole new way to use stamps already sitting on the shelf. Brilliant!!

You are just too cool to be human! I learn so much from you! Thank you!
On the black silhouette, I did the blending then stamped the image, then colored black. It seemed to do just fine. Thanks for the great video.
Jennifer, loved all the cards...thank you for giving different ideas with the same stamp!!

Thanks Jennifer for so many tips and suggestions. Love your examples.

Really awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely going to try this - today haha

Absolutely gorgeous I would love the tropical set but can't find it in the UK xxxx

I thought the same thing at first, but most stamps are wider on the back than the actual stamping image on the front. Therefore, you will not get the same detail.
yes, but the back of the stamp isn't as crisp on the edge - more rounded out. ;)
Thanks for the video
Purr fect even!
Great idea! I really love the result. One question, in the black cat you've used a Copic marker, we can use another type of marker, like tombow?? or a water based marker?? Thanks
Wonderful idea😍
U added sentiment after coloring then y not the image as it requires shine after coloring???
I love this technique.
I really like the mama elephant stamps, but coloring is not my thing.
I wish there were more videos like this.
Beautiful cards!😍Thanks. ❤
Can I quick dry the Molotow masking fluid with my heat Gun?
Purr fact!
Lovely effects. Question: instead of inking first (like on the flowers) can you just color the card completely, stamp and then color in with black? Thank you again for the inspiration.
yes, but stamping or coloring on top of the distress ink can sometimes be tricky to get a good image.
have you tried a tsukineko emboss pen? I think they come in a variety of colours including black so you could emboss straight away.
Love these cards! I wish I had imagination like yours. And the ability to do heat embossing that actually becomes shiny without burning the card and ending up flat, or not setting at all - how do you do it?
AimzS94
Hi, I heat up the heat gun for a minute before I emboss from the underside. That works for me.
Very cool...I was wondering, if you use the stamp of the cat, but put it in your Misti up side down. You would get a slightly bigger image, backwards also. Hummm I should try it lol.
yes, but the back of the stamp isn't as crisp on the edge - more rounded out. ;)
Love these cards! Where do you find envelopes for 4-bar cards? Only ones I have found are on SSS but they aren't white and most of my cards are white.
Love this idea, you are so creative! 😊
This post it tape you use is the same as masking tape? If don't, masking tape work just fine as your post it tape seems to do?
Oh, and sorry for having so many questions, but could I emboss using Archival or it doesn't stay wet long enough? Thanks for sharing your creations with us!
Andrea La Vigne Thank you so much for the tips you gave me. You really clarified all my doubts! ❤️
Hey Jennifer! Quick question-- couldn't I just restamp the image using versamark instead of the versamark pen?
xoxoxo!
Would it be possible to colour over the images with versamark after the ink blending and then emboss so it stays shiny?
Can you use a hair dryer for heat embossing?
Is there a big difference between the Nuvo glaze drops and the Nuvo jewel drops? I can never decide between those products or just the Glossy accents. Loved the video and cards of course ❤️
the jewel are clear. like clear with a tint of color
For the silhouette style card, is there any reason that you couldn't stamp over the blended back ground?
Will other marker's work for the black coloring if you don't have Copic?
If you have a silhouette stamp, is there a reason why you wouldn't do the background first with the Distress Oxide inks, then stamp in VersaFine Black ink after, (with or without adding embossing)?
oxide inks like to hold powder, too, so this way gives better results
