No, it was mainly because of timings. Perth's time is just 2 hrs ahead of IST, so it was wise to start BGT one a time where Indians also wake up to. As you can see rest of the games in BGT start pretty early. So strategy was to start BGT on a time where it can capture most of the audiences.
