To me, this song is one of the most Canadian sounds you can hear. Growing up in Canada in the 70s and 80s, this song was everywhere, and Geddy's vocals sound like a crisp, cold winter day - in the best possible way. Terrific stuff, and as always, it's a lot of fun getting to ride along with you as you hear a gem like this for the first time. Here I am at my desk, grooving with Airplay Beats again - peace and love from up north, and all the best for 2024!

It can be argued that all three members carry the band at different times. They are all magnificent musicians. Neil's drumming and lyric writing are unique and astounding, Geddy's bass and vocals are sensitive and masterful, while Alex's guitar is so versatile and adaptive that he's really the glue that keeps everything together. Plus his lead solos knock me on my ass. They are the PERFECT trio, and I can't see any two of them being successful without the third. When they all found each other, it was pure magic.

I just finished Geddy Lee's autobiography. I am not a huge fan of the band but I enjoy memoirs and autobiographies. I have a new appreciation of their music after reading his story. Rush was very popular when I was in high school in the early 1980s so I know a lot of their music. I didn't realize how much it stuck with me until I hear a song on the radio and realize I know it pretty well. This one got a lot of airplay. They still aren't the band I pick to listen to first, but I do think they're talented and Geddy seems like a really great person. I find now that I feel like I "know" Geddy from reading his life story, I enjoy the music more.

I like the tubular bells Neil Peart part.
Speaking of tubular bells, check out Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. You’ll recognize the Exorcist.

If you wanna know just how amazing Neil is, listen to the original studio recording of "Working Man" a few times (so you're familiar with John Rutsey's drum part) and then listen to Neil's arrangement of "Working Man" on the live album "All The World's A Stage".

Or 💡 they could just watch the Live in Cleveland version and see him play it. 🤯 Still can't believe how blessed I was to see them when they played MSG every 3 or 4 years! 😁 And with new songs off new Albums all the way up to being totally mezmorized during R40, Clockwork Angels & Time Machine Tours. 🙏🏿 RIP Neil Peart

@@cityhonors1 The Cleveland version is completely different. As he aged, he sometimes didn't play drum parts as originally recorded, often simplifying them. The degree of difficulty of the early days was reduced with the more improvisational approached adopted after the tragedies.

If you want to hear how high Geddy can sing check out Freewill. Right after all three guys solo at the same time, he belts out "each of us a cell of awareness, imperfect and incomplete. Genetic blends with uncertain ends on a fortune hunt that's far too fleet." In as high a pitch as he can sing.

Actually this is one of the only songs not written by Rush. Friend of Peart , Peter Talbot wrote this song although I couldn’t find for sure if Neil didn’t add the lyrics. Cheers

All three of them feed off of each other's energy, and you can barely believe all that music is being created by just three musicians! However,Neil Peart is considered by many to be the best rock drummer ever! At least in the top three for sure!🥁
