That's interesting, because I recently downloaded gpedit with a .bat file and it seemed to work well for me, maybe it depends on what registry you're changing. (If you're wondering I changed some things with the time & date settings because my PC would automatically set itself to U.S. Pacific Time which isn't my time zone.)
You have the Group Policy and you have the Product Policy. The only thing setting your Windows edition apart from the other editions usually boils down to this single database. The Product Policy is undocumented, binary-encoded, locked at the kernel level and linked to your Windows edition & licensing status. It determines how Windows features are configured for the current edition of Windows (including things like activation nags, available Group Policies, installable feature packages, Terminal Services features, etc) Many Windows services listening to Group Policy settings only do so if the right Product Policy flags are set (signaling the expected edition of Windows they're supposed to only work under) It is technically possible to bypass the Product Policy locks and create a unique combination of Product Policy settings resulting in a custom Windows edition that doesn't match any standard release of Windows, but that's also technically software piracy. I happen to be in favor of software piracy and screwing Microsoft over at every possible turn, but that's not legal advice. I'm not a lawyer. There's also the Windows Feature Store, which stores the enabled status of Windows features, and where many features that exist in the code in an unfinished state remain disabled as they were only enabled under internal or Windows Insider A/B testing, but can be forcibly (re)activated with the right tools if you're feeling adventurous.
My only critique is that I would have included the Settings > About Windows in the background of the screen recording, as a proof of which Version you're currently looking at. But solid video and thank you for saving me time!
The snag is that even if it does install a group editor, most of the policies don't actually work on Windows Home. The OS will the ignore reg keys regardless! As soon as you upgrade to Pro, the policies suddenly take effect. In the same way that some policies only apply to Education, Enterprise or windows 11 SE.
ohh so thats why it says to update the policy files when starting up policyplus for first time... does it mean that i can also download and install policy files manually and use package installer to use microsoft polocy editor?
Home editions probably just disable the functionality that gpupdate uses to work so while the policies are set they just aren't properly applied to the user. This is most likely done not to annoy users so gpedit doesn't work but if people manage to force Home onto a domain the group policies will never work properly to stop business from cheeping out on not buying pro.

The one and only thing I use group policy for is setting windows update to auto download but promt for install (disable auto install of windows updates) so I can install them when I’m ready. Too many times I went to access my pc remotely and it’s offline installing updates or it’s not logged in. Also I’ve had multi day uploads (my internet upload speed is slow) get stopped by windows updates.
You have the only video I've found that actually works, unfortunately despite disabling VBS, I did not get my VM running on Windows 11. Did everything I could, it just doesn't work. Back to the drawing board I guess.
I am still having trouble getting rid of copilot on my computer, followed the steps on this vid, saved policies, restarted. Copilot is still there, can still be opened. Opening Policy Plus, "Turn off Windows Copilot" is still set to "Enabled". Not sure where to go from here.
Hi ThioJoe, unfortunately I have found certain options that are not working even with Policy Plus. The one that annoys me the most right now is a Policy that disables Windows CoPilot. It's found under "Windows Components > Windows Copilot". Even setting it to "Enable" and then using the save button using Policy Plus does not anything. Not sure if you heard about this. I wonder if you know of another work-around.
