It's amazing how that old led based paint holds up. That would make a great camper I'd consider installing a diesel engine fuel mileage would be a lot better.
That gets me so fired up when BFuses my dustpan. He loses it every time!. Last time I hit him in the ass with it. I went to dollar tree and bought more and had them throughput the house garage etc. Fixed that problem

He’s country and I love horses, imma horse back rider and the country is my comfort place. The smells, views, everything makes me happy. Away from the crowds of ppl…I can lay in a field of horses while the sun sets, laying with the horses and cry happily.
That bus is in amazing condition.. far from scrap metal... Goes to show you what some good old fashioned elbow grease can do.. I'd love to own something that nice.. LOVE IT!!!
This was built back when vehicles were built to withstand the test of time. She cleaned up very nice! And might I say, you have amazing cinematography and editing skills as well!

Dude! She's such a beauty! Other than the rat damage from where the nest in the side panel was, it looks like you won't have much body work that needs to be done. I can't believe she looks so good having been in the woods for so long! I can see why you're blown away at seeing how well she cleaned up. You bet I'll be watching all future videos. 👍
As a school bus driver who has driven Ford , and International and now a Blue Bird for the last 17 years, I love , love this old girl!! She is still shining and looks amazing for her age!! Hope you restore it and keep it!! Great video!!
I have a neighbor with a full size bus like that. He says if you cab get it out. You can have it to anyone who wants it. I like looking at it. I drove school bus for 32 yrs and dream (unrealistically) about making an RV out of it. Loved watching you bring it back!

@@CountryBoyGasGarage- I been going through them all night. Glad I found this on a weekend... You got it running! Great stuff, but there might be some damage to the bores and rings. An engine strip will probably mean a few snapped bolts to drill out, so before trying to turn them it can help if you give them a couple of sharp taps straight down onto the bolthead with a hammer and square drift. Really looking forward to seeing this project finished!

Great fun project! I had a 47 Ford bus that had a Superior body. They were made in Lima, Ohio. The floor is plywood over the steel floor. Most all of the body from the cowl back is aluminum. The cool part is the roll down driver's window and wing window. Classic!
First: Would copyright the product name”Rat Poop Tea”. For a future product to market. Second: my engine of choice would be a Dodge/Cummins. Third: get an old Rv trailer and transplant the interior. Fourth: I think the teal paint was factory bus interior color. WOO HOO! This is going to a fun channel!
John Secord - Correct. Factory default interior colors for school buses of the time. White ceiling helped keep it cool, during the hot summer days! Teal color was for hiding scuffs and such. Bus seats would've been a green color. Your driver's seat has been recovered sometime in the bus's life.
Love the old lines, such style - and WOW at how well it cleaned up and looks - fix the rust and leave the rest, do a coating of whatever its called to preserve it so it looks old - Then drop a hellcat engine into her :)

Amazing series of videos! This bus is a real beauty and, in my humble opinion, should remain in its "Baptist" state complete with phone number and Bible verse. Do not restore, but address the biggies like the missing window and rot hole. Great stuff!

That's crazy. If that bus could talk, it would be thanking you for days. I'm still impressed you managed to drive it out of the woods under its own power. That was an accomplishment in itself. Great job brother.
@@briandickinson278 I don't know. I wouldn't have put a bathtub in it, but it did kill two birds with one stone. A shower would've taken up even more space, and you can't put a bed over a shower like they did the tub. I have a 40' Jayco and it has a tub. A very, very small tub that only a kid could fit in, but it has it nonetheless. I can't tell you how nice it is after a long day of hiking to come back and jump in the shower. Especially in the colder months.
Do you just feel something is meant to be? With as nice as that body is I would hate to see it altered but as such it won't have much in practical use. I would see if Superior bus is still around and see if they have any background on it too. To make it more practical, the cheapest way would be to find an old 80's motorhome and Rob the drivetrain from under it. That way you would have fairly modern engine, brakes, transmission and rear end. You could possibly salvage some seating also. That would tow about anything you wanted. With all those windows it wouldn't lend itself well to an RV and would be a shame to cut on it. It is amazing how well it cleaned up. You sure have a prize there. Terry from South Carolina

Absolutely incredible!! Makes me wish they'd made all the classic cars out of heavy aluminum. Not as strong as steel but I figure they still wouldn't fold up like these new cars do! Fantastic!

Your idea of cleaning old abandoned cars, trucks and buses has gotten you a subscription from me. I know the bus is a 1948 Ford Superior. Back then when the bus was new, just about all your school buses in those days had the mitered front ends. And just about all your school buses came only with manual transmissions and manual doors. I think Gillig may have tried to have an air operated door on their "flat-nosed" buses in I think the early 1950s.

I have a 40' Jayco and it has a tub. A very, very small tub that only a kid could fit in, but it has it nonetheless. I can't tell you how nice it is after a long day of hiking to come back and jump in the shower. Especially in the colder months.

With as nice as that body is I would hate to see it altered but as such it won't have much in practical use.
I would see if Superior bus is still around and see if they have any background on it too.
To make it more practical, the cheapest way would be to find an old 80's motorhome and Rob the drivetrain from under it. That way you would have fairly modern engine, brakes, transmission and rear end. You could possibly salvage some seating also. That would tow about anything you wanted. With all those windows it wouldn't lend itself well to an RV and would be a shame to cut on it.
It is amazing how well it cleaned up. You sure have a prize there.

Absolutely incredible!! Makes me wish they'd made all the classic cars out of heavy aluminum. Not as strong as steel but I figure they still wouldn't fold up like these new cars do! Fantastic!

Your idea of cleaning old abandoned cars, trucks and buses has gotten you a subscription from me. I know the bus is a 1948 Ford Superior. Back then when the bus was new, just about all your school buses in those days had the mitered front ends. And just about all your school buses came only with manual transmissions and manual doors. I think Gillig may have tried to have an air operated door on their "flat-nosed" buses in I think the early 1950s.
