  • Hey guys! Finally got to answering your guys' questions and making a video about it. I hope you find this video helpful and if you still have any unanswered questions don't hesitate to comment or message me! I am working hard to stay motivated during quarantine so please be patient as I try to create content for you! If you have any videos you'd like to see please leave them below.
    P.S. Excuse my uneven bangs... I am trying to thin it out so I must only cut what I want...
    Also that is paint on my hand that I didn't notice till editing...
    I studied abroad to Seoul South Korea for a month in the summer of 2019 through a program known as EF (Education First)
    If you have any suggestions or questions leave them in the comments and I'd love to make a video about it!

    Gosh, i'm thinking a lot about going for 4 weeks but i'm not a beginner in korean, i can understand a lot but have no confidence in speaking and I would love to go there especially for that..oh and the travelling! I wouldn't mind paying for that trip to Busan, that sounds so damn cool. But true, it's too expensive so idk whether to go for real or not but it sounds really nice.Thanks for the info! But honestly, this entire pandemic situation is making it really hard to decide. I don't want to pay for something and then lose that money, or spend weeks in quarantine. Who knows how the situation will look like next year. It's hard to decide.. but going to korea for the 1st time after so many years of learning the language and being interested in the culture would be a dream come true. Hi Nicole :) Thank you so much for that video! This was such a good inside look and you have a really captivating aura! I'm gonna check out your other videos too.
    I understand if you have no more time to answer any more questions, so no worries if that's the case :) I will go to Seoul in December for three month (fingers crossed). I wanted to ask if you brought a laptop or notebook. Mine weighs a ton and I have not so much money to buy a new one. Secondly I have a severe egg allergy with bad symptoms. Was there someone who also had to be careful regarding food? In Korean stores I made the experience that egg isn't necessarily listed on fresh items.
    Much love from Germany!!

    • @Nijeii
      @Nijeii  3 роки тому +1

      I did bring my laptop but didn't use it very often. Only to upload photos. Depending where you're staying too you may have access to a computer like many hotel do so this could be a good solution. I didn't have any friends who had allergies only one was vegetarian. It is possible to avoid eggs but most definitely will need to be your responsibility to always communicate at restaurants that you're allergic so I suggest mastering this phrase haha. In addition I suggest coming up with a good solution for if you have a reaction what steps you need to take to stay safe :) Have fun on your travels and stay safe

    Hey! You legit answered most of my questions I had thank you for that 😭 I just have some left about the logistics of you getting there. How was the situation with the flight and you getting there? Is it a collective flight for EF Students, or do you just get there alone and EF is „responsible“ for when you arrive in Korea? And how was your arrival, where you welcomed by your host family (and if I choose the residence is there like a shuttle from the airport to the accommodation?)

    • @Nijeii
      @Nijeii  4 роки тому +37

      So the lessons are primarily in Korean. Some of the teachers know English but it is very basic. But within each class there is varying levels of Korean and honestly everyone is there to help so sometimes if you don't understand the class can help. Plus the teachers are very understanding and work slow and make sure everyone is on the same page. Don't worry

      Do you have a pump? And a CGM? I think you would be alright if your parents are alright with it, and if you know how to calculate units. Most Korean food has little carbs, however nutritional facts are also visible most places you go, and you can easily look it up on CalorieKing. If you’re independent, and know your stuff, you’ll be fine.

    I've used EF for a class trip before, but I definitely would never use EF to actually learn a language. It's way too overpriced but because they are so well known they're able to charge more.
    I found a cheaper Spanish school in Costa Rica (not EF) for 5 weeks with more class time while my friend did EF in Spain for 3 weeks with less class time for the exact same price.

    Do you plan on studying Korean in South Korea again? If so, have you found a different program with a lower tuition?
    I'm interested in studying Korean in South Korea next year but I've heard of a couple of different programs such as one at Sogang University, but they don't offer accommodations. EF's program sounds like a good fit for what I'm looking for because you mentioned how we get freedom and chance to participate in many activities that they provide. I'm looking for a program where I can get a great education as well as get to know South Korea such as go to clubs, night life, have fun, etc.
    I did a little bit of research on their website about the different levels, and I'm thinking about taking Basic, but at the same time I'm interested in taking General. Will I get as much free time as basic if I take General?

    • @karlasantos3999

      Also, if the tuition was cheaper would you then plan on going again ?

    • @Nijeii
      @Nijeii  3 роки тому +3

      I do plan to be in South Korea again shortly ;). I have not found a program cheaper that isn't connected to a Korean high school program. My friend is going to Sogang this winter and will be using Airbnb which can be a good cheap alternative but yes, you will be responsible for your accommodation which can be a no go for you. EF is nice because they take care of this for you. In general you will have less free time because you're taking more classes but truthfully I don't think Basic or General is bad because you still have a lot of free time especially if you're a night person! I would go with EF again if tuition is lower and I take basic haha because I love self travel which EF does well and honestly the community of people there are really good and the whole process is very easy to navigate. Hope this helps!

      You can go out :) I’m going in 2022 as well. My friend went in 2019 and she liked to go out. Sometimes she wouldn’t even come home (she’d stay at a friend’s house)
      All she had to do is discuss this with her host family. Whenever she planned to go out with friends or stay at one of her friends’ place after partying, she would tell her host family. Otherwise they’d be worried, not knowing where she is 😅
      So I think you just have to make sure to tell them that you won’t be home for dinner or just tell them you’re going out :)
