Seeing as you invest in index funds you can make a simple change to boost your earnings by ditching the dividend funds and moving over to accumulation versions of the same funds. Accumulation funds out perform dividend funds because of automatic reinvesting so you don’t lose any trading days. For example vanguard VUAG S&P 500 accumulation fund over the last 2 years has outperformed VUSA the dividend version by nearly 4% and outperformed the S&P 500 by over 2.5%.
Great work Marta. I have been also invested in vanguard since 2020 and have 496K invested. I’m working an easy job but will reduce my hours. I’m 55 and also have some mortgage free property so close to 1 Million. Life is for living now. Enjoy your new goals and best wishes for 2025.
As always Marta, such a fantastic, thoughtful and realistic update. Thank you for sharing. I too agree with you about retirement - I’m that weird person who enjoys the intellectual challenge and social interaction of working.
You were the first investing channel I watched when I was looking to open my S&S ISA in 2021 and I've liked your simple and informative content ever since. Congratulations on hitting your goal and enjoy working less if you can!
This is amazing Marta, congrats! I started investing in Vanguard because of you, for me it is to buy a house, and it is really crazy how your money can grow with investing, now I am thinking maybe I should not put it all for the house we will buy, it would be a shame to start Vanguard again from scratch.
Thank you! It means a lot to me to know that you started because of my channel. And I can definitely see your dilemma. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.
I'm 90% in VEVE also - it has been phenomenal over the last couple years. I prefer the distribution version too because seeing the dividends grow each time is a huge motivator for me to stay involved and interested.
I agree, 2025 is going to be a good year for equities. Happy new year! I did a similar thing, I had a target of £500,000, at which point I quit full time working.
Happy new year Marta! You are doing well and on the right track. Nobody knows the future but hope for the best, I have some small cap exposure and a little overweight on emerging markets (but not Christmas pudding). Paul Merriman and Optimized Portfolio Ginger Ale maybe worth a Google or maybe an unwanted distraction. Netherless, always enjoy your content and wish you the best.
Thank you! And to you! Yes, I have We're Talking Millions on my bookshelf (read a few years ago). I looked into small caps but even IE had not what I wanted so gave up on that idea. But who knows, might be the best thing for those emerging markets funds of mine that keep lagging behind.
Just discovered this channel. Was wondering what's your age/field? Also curious as to the ISA/SIPP split in Vanguard Would help give some context to this portfolio & investment approach
Amazing to see the progress! Out of interest ( and sorry if I missed it in the video ) how much is in the SIPP and the ISA with vanguard out of interest? is the 250k mainly in a SIPP?
Congratulations Marta, I don’t know how long I’ve been subscribed but you’ve been inspirational along the journey! I don’t think I would’ve started my own journey without these videos 👍🏾
@Marta-Lis thank you Marta, you are my favourite content creator because of how original and transparent you are. I asked knowing that of all the people on UA-cam, you would respond. Thank you for what you do. In the UK as well and hope to share my profile too one day.
Well done Marta and congrats, will you persue a btl investment this year? I am currently looking in east london hopefully get one so my rental income can increase along with my etf holdings :)
I've seen apartments around Crossharbour (south of Canary Wharf) with asking prices close to what they were sold for in 2007 - those have been an awful investment and come with around £4,000 annual service charges!
@Marta-Lis thanks for reply. Your videos are awesome. So direct and transparent. Other vids are cagey yours is so honest which is good. What type of designer, clothing? And how old when you started investing? Congratulations on your success!
Wow that’s very impressive!!! How do you achieve to get such amount in 5 years? After 1 year of investing I’m still at £12K. By the way very motivating video 💪🏾
I was literally thinking about you today and leaving a comment on your previous update video for you to do another one since we're now in a clown market and everything is up for no real reason and wanted to see your crazy gains. All the smart investors seem to think we are or are about to enter bubble territory which means a correction that is pretty bad might happen in the US stock market. Earnings over the last 5 years have doubled but the multiple has gone up 4x so you're looking at worst case scenario a 50% correction or 10 to 15 years of mostly no growth in the index. Who knows when it will happen but when the schiller PE ratio is this high the next few years of returns tend to be lower and I don't think this time it will different.
@@Marta-Lis Indeed, though how come you're thinking of going part time or retiring with £300k, do you have another cash pile saved up somewhere or an investment vehicle that yields really well because £300k on its own cannot provide enough dividend income and selling part of it to meet your living needs will wipe out the capital pretty quickly. You'd need at least near seven figures to live comfortably without working full time using a safe withdrawal rate below 4% at your age. You have to have a buffer for a market downturn and avoid sequence risk especially if the dividend income is not sufficient to cover your yearly outgoings. That being said you've done a great job building 300k liquid.

Thank you so much! And I'm glad we're in the same boat:)

And you!
Great advice, and great to see the results

Another gem from Marta. All the best road to 300k this year and thank you!
Thank you! Happy new year!
Nice one well done, really sensible way to look at work which I agree with completely. Good luck.
Thank you!
Nice - will soon be a snowball. I'm £440k - semi-retiring at £500k b4 55
Semi-retiring is the best. May the snowball happen soon!
Happy New Year! Great stuff on the £300k. Wishing you the best :)
Thank you! You too!
Congratulations on making your goals!
Thank you!
Powodzenia Marta! 😊
Dzieki, dzieki!

Love it and well done too you
Thank you!
Great video. I think it is great you are looking for financial freedom. I am going to start my plan now 😊
Best of luck!
Wow I remember watching your videos when you had 100k in vanguard 😮
Welcome back!

All in previous updates.
Amazing to see the progress!
Out of interest ( and sorry if I missed it in the video ) how much is in the SIPP and the ISA with vanguard out of interest? is the 250k mainly in a SIPP?
SIPP is about £150k, ISA about £110
Simple but great video 👍🏿
Q - do you invest a certain amount each month or just a percentage of your income?
Thank you. Initially as much as possible, then £1k per month, then £6k per year and now only reinvesting the dividends.
Well done for accumulating so much money at a young age Marta. All I would say is your funds have a lot of duplication of holdings.
I know Andrew, I know. Thank you!
I invest through Fidelity and Hargreaves Lansdown
Congratulations Marta, I don’t know how long I’ve been subscribed but you’ve been inspirational along the journey!
I don’t think I would’ve started my own journey without these videos 👍🏾
That is great to hear - I'm glad I was able to somehow help:) And thank you!
Marta, which software are you using for your videos
Adobe ones.
@Marta-Lis good staff thanx

That’s a very good return over 5 years. Were you investing monthly and how much?
I was investing as much as I could initially and then slowed way down.
What happened to the SIPP Q&A outift? 😉
Haha, it's in the wash ;)
Can I change the number of years on my investment portfolio
Not sure I understand you but anyway - no, you can't.

Thank you! No BTL for me. Good luck with your search!
Interested to know the rationale for your Vanguard fund choices. I'm not saying they're right or wrong, I'm genuinely interested.
I talked about it in previous updates.
I'm soon to be 58 years old and have £750k in a SIPP and £170k LTA of value in a defined benefit pension. Still planning to work until 60.
if you have your property fully paid you look good to go! well done 😀
Boom! That's the spirit:)
That Beyond Meat share price crash is absolutely 😵😷
Hey marta whats your job? How much per month you invest? Well done by the way
I work as a designer and coach for now. I invested £6k last year and different amounts before that. Thank you!
@Marta-Lis thanks for reply. Your videos are awesome. So direct and transparent. Other vids are cagey yours is so honest which is good. What type of designer, clothing? And how old when you started investing? Congratulations on your success!
I use IBKR
Never stop investing, to quote a famous and influential stock broker in New York in the 1980s, you can always be richer, look poorer.

Glad you think so:) I earned more than I spent and invested it.
so cute
Damm girl. Looking good in black Marta!
Thanks Eddie!
