Rugged just ignored him . . Same wY jayz ignored the Game. Rugged was much bigger than mode commercial wise, and responding will give mode the much wave he needed. He ignored mode and every one forgot mode in an instance.
Don't tell me how big mode was anybig, because rap wasn't that big in Naija but Rugged was the only big rapper then..and that's cos he watered down and infused local languages and slangs into his music just like Olamide and phyno today.
Rugged dissed olu maintain and Idris etc at the time due to the fact that those rappers wear all wack and deceiving the listeners cos people who don't understand rap really thought those people had any substance in their songs when they don't. Even 50cent was happy and received a huge boost when jayz mentioning him with "I'm all about the dolla, what the fuxk is 50cent" . You do t understand the positive effect it has on a lower rapper to be dissed by a Big artiste. Most of the times, it shoots up their numbers. I agree that mode was better lyricist than rugged, but rugged made better music than mode. Rugged was making more money and more dame than mode. Only real rap heads knew mode. Idris on the other hand was big via walk rap lyrics. Rugged exposed him with the megedefegede bullshit which people were clapping for cos they don't know they have been played. Idris was disguising as a tongue twister to get praises when he was clearly spitting trash. Rugged wasn't deep into metaphors and worldplay cos it won't sell in Naija. However, he was mak8ng sense and making his money through good music. You can't deny that. And as a result of that, he was miles ahead of mode. People will quickly listen to Rugged songs...and if he mentions mode, it will give the later a wider audience and popularity. I wouldn't do that if I was Rugged too. There is a reason Nicki Minaj refused to respond to Remi ma...that's difference in fame, money and fan base. You don't stoop low to fight some one that won't give you a career boost. You fight people on your level or people above you if they will oblige you a reply though
