May Day, a blast from the past. I was in elementary school in the 60’s and we would make baskets out of construction paper. I would always give them to my mom. Your metal basket turned out beautiful, just stunning. That little bit of gold you painted on the lip was perfect.

Nadia!! Yes I’ve heard of May Day baskets!! When I was young along with my three siblings, my mother would make us May Day baskets to fill with special candies 🍬 and then go door to door to our neighbors to give them this special gift 💝!! It was absolutely so much fun to go and give these special baskets to our neighbors and see the beautiful smiles on their faces. We did this for years and years!! A wonderful experience in giving!!🩷💝🩷

I live in KS, my Grandma & Mom always help us assemble the baskets with fresh flowers. Usually from Grandma yard. We would then deliver to neighbors & friends. 😊

Louie is such a little love bug. I could just squeeze him (gently of course). Nadia this basket is just breathtaking! Green is my favorite color and this color is beautiful. You are right. The gold around the rim just pops. Flowers are gorgeous! I could go on and on. I’ve heard of May Day but never knew what it was. Yes. In grade school we always celebrated May Day. There was a May
Pole with different colored streamers.
Then each person with take a streamer
and weave in and out and around the
pole!

When I was a child, we would make baskets out of construction paper and fill them withflowers. On May Day, May 1st, we would leave them at a neighbors door, ring the bell and run. It was great fun to watch their surprise. 😂❤

When I was in elementary school in the 50's we had a Mayday the first of themonth. Each grade made flower baskets and had special dances for entertainment. The 5th grade did the Maypole dance. It was a fun spring time fair at school.😊

Hello Nadia..When I was in elementary school we used to pick violets and make baskets out of construction paper and put a handle on them with yarn.we would go and give them to our mother's and grandmother's when we got home off the bus or someone special that was elderly in our lives...as a child that was one of my favorite times of the year...loved your video..the basket is Beautiful! I have heard of May day. I didn't know the basket tradition though. My elementary school used to have a festival. We performed a may pole dance for parents and other visitors. Everyone had a long ribbon and moved around it and at the end the ribbon was kind of braided all down the pole. Each class voted for may king and queen and in 3rd grade I was queen. Lol. Thanks for bringing up such fond memories for me. The basket wreath is beautiful!

I have never heard of baskets before. We had May Pole Dance! The center pole had ribbons attached at the top, and children (people) would weave the ribbons around. ❤❤❤

🌹🌺 When I was in school we did a May Day celebration. We learned how to do a May Pole dance. Ribbon was hung from a flag pole and we danced in and out until the pole was covered with ribbon.
