Mick Lynch warns ‘ultra right’ are causing division during cost-of-living crisis at Belfast rally

- Trade unionist Mick Lynch has told a crowd of workers and activists that the “ultra right” is causing division during the cost-of-living crisis, and it should be resisted.
He also praised unions across Northern Ireland that had taken industrial action in recent months, and called for the trade union movement to begin in every town and county, saying that people were “ready for change”.
The general secretary of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) said he has received a “tremendous” welcome as he met and marched with activists and trade unions through Belfast.
Addressing the crowd, Lynch said: “It’s been the trade unions that have kept our spirits alive, that have kept this movement going, bringing all of our people together, no matter what their heritage, no matter what their background, and we have to keep doing it.
“Because we know what’s being said: the ultra right are going to exploit division. They’re seeking to do it in the south, they’re seeking to do it up here. They’re seeking to do it in England.”

Why would anyone criticise anyone fighting for fair pay and conditions and a Fairer Society beggars belief
I'd respect him if he understood what a poor wage was himself, but he doesn't & the whole lot only seem interested in themselves.
I see poverty, but it's outta London that mick never takes an interest in, like most of the ppl in the London bubble, outta London is we're you see how it is to live in real poverty.
Ppl on minimum wage who also work hard, everyone makes the world go around not just NHS

Imagine what can be achieved if the working class would get its act together and unites. We must get behind all the striking workers and support them to the end... FTT
Support them and get taxed to hell, they will be out on strike in months as everything goes up in price and they complain again they need more. It's a never ending circle.
We have been hearing this socialist crap since the Russian revolution in 1917, and all they can deliver is more poverty, totalitarian rule and mass imprisonment and murder. Mick Lynch is just another two bit wannabe working class hero, at least we know the real reasons for the recent rail strikes, nothing to do with pay and all to do with toppling governments.

I must dust off my jack boots and oil up my luger pistol, and practice the goose step march. Apparently anyone who is not left wing is automatically an extreme or ultra right winger, Nazi even. Typical Mick Lynch shite, designed to stir up trouble.
Mick Lynch is an articulate advocate for workers' rights . He also needs to defend the " right to survive " for those who run small business enterprises and pay trade union wages. These people give local employment and work incredibly long hours for meagre profits.. They are also part of the working class, and our co- existence is essential in every town and rural community.
The RMT union are right wing enablers by persuading their members to vote for Brexit.
Im sure mick does support small business. Certainly unions have better policys than cbi...
And why should the workers pay the cost of "supporting small businesses"? What's pushing small and medium businesses out of work? Is it predatory mega corporations or the government cutting corporate taxes or backdoor lobbying that leads to misappropriation of public funds and favourable policies for multinationals - no it's the poor sods who want a living wage as rent and food prices keep soaring. What a pathetic take, Tony. If a small business can't compete, then maybe it shouldn't exist - that's the free market at work, right? Because regulatory intervention would be tyranny and communism, so you bark at the wrong tree and that's when you lose the "right to survive" because what you're asking for is to deprive the working class off the same rights. Small business owners are not working class, "owner" pretty much disqualifies them; instead a workers cooperative would be that.
@left_blank. Really?
@@TheCyberSpidey most trades people sparks, plumbers, bruckies are all self employed. They r small business. And many others. They may have had no choice but to be self employed, but they are.

Economic liberty for all - James Connolly
It is hard to fathom that the UK Labour Party was founded in Belfast by heavy engineering and linen workers. The Oligarchs in Northern Ireland seen coming improved workers rights and conditions and played a master stroke throwing the religion bomb into the meetings to divide workers. US and Them whilst they counted there profits.
My Granda was in the old NILP and the electricians' union and got better terms and conditions for the electrician apprentices in the railways.
Times have changed a lot since then and not for the better.
A truth which should be shouted throughout the lands. Thank you for your comment and may we never underestimate the threat of the 'Culture Wars' as a weapon in the hands of Fascists and Fudalists!
Founded in Belfast; not exactly! ...but now not allowing NILP candidates the right to stand in Belfast or NI.

This is the truth. The last 13 years of Tory rule has been one way. We need the emphasis to be on improving the wealth of the poorer end in nursing, doctors rail, post teaching etc. It has to come from big companies and very wealthy.

So the unions can only represent socialists? you can not be in a union if you are a Conservative, Liberal. etc?
Yes you can. What you have to do is read the rule book, which is democratically updated every year and abide by it.
Most union rule books have a political policy objective, usually " Working towards a socialist society".
If you can't live with that, don't join or form your own club.
Try the Masons
Completely correct 👏
It's all about London, yet real poverty is way outta of London where none if these socialist live.
I don’t think that is right anyone can join a union
They represent socialist values, anyone can join.
They represent (in these days try to preserve the rights) of ALL working people.
Mick lynch earns 84 grand a year 😂
You resent people earning like a 100k or so yet stick up for those hoarding 10s or hundreds of millions wealth assets, or more, since the financial crisis and then covid.
Mate a few hundred K is work hard and enjoy the finer things kind of money, even a couple of million maybe.
100 people on 100k a year will generally do far more for the economy and support far more people in work than just one person on 10 million a year or more.
People on that much already have everything they want, can already do anything they want so all the extra money just goes to buying up other people's assets that they don't even use themselves or do any work on directly themselves. So then it just brings them more money they don't need every year, that comes from other peoples work activities and rent/mortgage payments ect, so they just buy up everyone else's houses and businesses more and more.
@@ericritchie6783 i dont resent just anyone earning 100k.
Or a hundred million.
I resent the man who earns hundred grand and then says to the road sweeper on minimum wage "you cant go to work today mate cos im stopping the trains for you".
@@lovelybitofbugle219 So does the road sweeper not care about his own presumably poor condition and wages not keeping up with inflation? Nor does he care about about the conditions of those around him day to day that allow him to go about his day and get to his job?
One or two days off work here or there with valid reason is too much? Because of poor pay and conditions, unreasonable bosses maybe?
@@ericritchie6783 one or days off for a road sweep means he cant pay his rent.
@@lovelybitofbugle219 There you are though, people on minimum wages and poor conditions should have to be squeezed for the benefit of people getting a hundred million which you have no issue with. So you stick up for the one with a hundred million before the next guy also on minimum wage.

The unions do nothing for people in the private sector.
8-10% IS NOT BAD
Form a union then
Actually the people Lynch represents are nearly all in the private sector. Railways are mostly privatised. Don't be ignorant your whole life.
If you don't form a union, no, no one will do anything for you. You have to fight for your own interests.
@archvaldor An awful lot of private sector companies won't recognise unions. If you have a disciplinary or something they won't let you bring a union rep.

...he Red Robo mark 2.....

Yeah I think Arthur drove a jag and had a flat for life. Typical divide and conquer tactics. Labour combined bankrupt the country Tories come back in austerity the cycle repeats whilst they elite's get richer funny old thing
Sorry typo meant to Labour spending bankrupts the country then tories come in and screw us further.
Yes but it's a form of communism why should I live under that. If you speak to people who lived under communism then your view would be different. Build a business make some profit and share it with your staff. Marxism is poison sorry .

The only person I see trying to sow division is talking in this video. Socialism in theory is fab but in practice has never worked. No system is perfect because we are not perfect. We never will be, there will always be someone wanting or having more. No harm wanting to better yourself but it is down to you, not the government. The only thing stopping you is you.
