I bought Secret Stories a few weeks ago, on a whim, because of your videos praising them. My husband helped me put them up one weekend in my classroom. Needless to say, I have not regretted them, and my firsties and I reference them all the time. You have seriously influenced my instruction this year from even this one recommendation. Please keep talking about your implementation of the Secret Stories!
This was a really encouraging comment!!! I'm glad you are getting to use them. They fascinate me! What a nice husband 😉 keep him haha! I'll keep sharing, and of course let me know how it goes for you, too!
We use the secret stories in third grade! One of my very, very high readers is obsessed and has become our secret story expert. He knows how to use the book and is our most common story teller. All my kids have access and I see many of them using the pictures to help with their writing.
I love your week in the life videos that you’ve been doing! It is so nice to hear about lessons and resources that are working well for you for whole group as well as small group/centers.
I managed to catch this earlier before you reuploaded. Love the thumbnail. So cute. I honestly am happy with the content that you produce. I love hearing about your read alouds.
My kids last year & this year love secret stories. I plan on using the pages in the back of the book that you can copy to make each student a booklet. I also call my kids explorers & the secrets help us “crack the code” for reading and writing.
I just received a grant to purchase the secret stories! I have ordered it and am waiting for them to arrive. I teach fourth, but half my class is below proficient. I’m excited to try them.
I just heard about a couple of teachers who teach middle grades and they said they didn't think their students were "into it" at first but like two weeks later they were obsessed and finding stories everywhere! It was cool to hear!

I just found your videos and I love them!! They are full of great ideas! I am looking for the anchor charts you created for character, setting, plot; fiction/nonfiction, etc. You stated that you put them on the shared google drive, but I can't find them. Can you help direct me where to find them?
Love all your videos. Do you have the whole secret stories program? Or do just use the secret stories book ? Posters? I teach kindergarten. I’m interesting in purchasing but wanna get what’s most useful and get most for my money since I’m using my own money to purchase. Any info and help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you ❤️
Thank you for another inspiring vlog. I love your long vlogs; they are such a special treat. I have taught 2,3, and 4 (currently in 3rd) and have said I'd NEVER do 1st grade... but the more I watch you, the more I wonder, what if? ;) I REALLY want the Secret Stories for my 3rd graders because there are so many gaps in their phonics, but I always stop after putting the product in the cart. 150 bucks after shipping is a huge commitment. Do you know if there are ever any sales or discounts?
I'm sorry, they never go on sale, but they aren't $150, just $100 if that helps. There's also lots more in the group - bit.ly/SecretStoriesGroup .....including some great 3rd grade vids pinned to the top! 😊
Thank you so much!!! First is the BEST! It is so much fun if you like teaching them to read or write. Really the heart of both! I don't think they ever go on sale....could you use a grant or donors choose???
Love your videos! Watching from Luxemburg, Europe :-) Just a thougt: maybe your student is walking around and moving more now than at the beginning of the year because he now tries so hard to reach his starchart goal and somehow need to "compensate" :-) I have a balance pad/cushion, normally used in fitness for balance training, for a student with similar issues as a cushion to sit on on his chair. Allows him to sit down while still moving around a little bit, he loves it!
Hello! I loved all your projects, so I bought the Primary Girl retelling product. Can you tell me day by day what you do? I know you said you read same book everyday….
Primary Scouts yes!! :) Day 1 we read and make the chart together with just the retelling pics, students come up and retell Day 2 we do a shared writing for the B,M,E and focus on a different standard (ie character traits) Day 3 they do the craft and retell on their own Day 4 they respond to the reading Each read through the book we go a little deeper with questioning!
I have the same problem with the rockers! 😭 Do you have a video with your stem bins? I’m ELAR but I have a student who is also all over the place. She will stay for 3-4 minutes… but she hates timers. So I’m trying to figure out what to do with her!
Is “Writing Superstar” a product you created, or is it something you purchased? If you did purchase it, would you mind linking the product for me? Love love love your videos! I’ve been a first grade teacher for 15 years and I’m learning so many new, great things from you!
It's all mine! :) You can find it in the shared drive. It's linked in the description! You can trace the anchor chart there. Also the song is posted on my instagram feed and will be shared again in this week's vlog (uploading now) Thank you for watching Laura!!!
We do the Jack Hartman ones right now! There's a couple! I did one for August and September and just switched to a new jack Hartman one! It's fun to mix it up
Love your read aloud routines. Wish our reading program wasn’t so controlling in the books we read to the kids. As long as we’re hitting the skill and standard! 😩
I also keep this read aloud time as a separate part in our day. I teach literacy with 1st and K at a different time that is more curriculum-based but the standards I'm hitting with my read aloud structure are wayyyyyy better taught like this!
I use stickers stories with preschoolers . I like their creativity and it helps them with the context of word to print, to see me write their stories . Was just curious how its done with okder students .
Do you or anyone know how to be trained on the science of reading?? I’m really interested in it however when I google it I just find the benefits of it.
Join the facebook group "The Science of Reading What I Should Have Learned In College" there are a few free little trainings and you can learn more about it!
What videos would you like to see next? Also, thoughts on this week's thumbnail? 🥰
Did you link the sight word mapping sheet you were using in the video?!
@@nkelly258 yep! They are in the Google drive!
@@MrsCallsCampers thank you!😊
The thumbnail looks great. Love the new style.
How do we access your amazing google drive!

thanks for coming back to comment!! And thank you 💛 🥰 I'm glad you like hearing about the read alouds...they're SO fun!
Respect to all teachers out there. Especially special ed teachers. I work with autism. And it gets stressful. So thanks for all you do.
My kids last year & this year love secret stories. I plan on using the pages in the back of the book that you can copy to make each student a booklet. I also call my kids explorers & the secrets help us “crack the code” for reading and writing.
that's a great idea!!!!!!!!!!!
Love your videos. I’m always curious to see what your doing for the week.
Thank you SO much Marisol!!!!
I know I'm late, but I loved the wrap ups as a kid. I always thought they were so much fun.
Finally took the plunge and bought the retelling kit lol excited to start using it 😍
You will get so much use out of it for years to come!!!!! She always adds fun new ones!!!!

love the choice!!!

Do you happen to have a layout of your kindergarten Wonders lesson plans. I'm looking for a good flow.
I didn’t teach it with fidelity

@@MrsCallsCampers I totally agree. Trust us as educated professionals & let us teach.
What does 1st grade do when you work with kindergarten and vice versa?
During literacy my aide is there so she works with them on Phonemic awareness and fluency with poetry, during math they do math centers
When you do sticker stories do you write what they dictate ? Or have them try to write it ?
I will write it, yes! For this first day, I just had them tell me verbally. I just wanted to make it fun! :)
I use stickers stories with preschoolers . I like their creativity and it helps them with the context of word to print, to see me write their stories . Was just curious how its done with okder students .
In what order do you teach letters?
Hi! When/how often do you teach science?
Whenever we can!!!! Through literature if it applies. I am a combo teacher so I can't teach the full curriculum for k and first.

Why did you reupload the video
The beginning of the video "in this video" was from an old video so I reuploaded with the correct one
