Thank you Representative Deutsch and Senator Melhoff for being the prime sponsors of this bill. Thank you Governor Noem for signing this historic bill and to the whole legislature for supporting the Jewish people especially during this time in the rise of anti-semitism. My father-in-law, Michael (Miklos) Deutsch survived Dachau but most of his family did not. Why were they there? For one reason only: they believed in a God who chose them to bring to the world the knowledge that we have one true God and that He loves All people with compassion and mercy. They did not break one law but they still died just for being Jews. I was able to write Michael Deutsch's story down after asking him to share it one time in our early marriage. I witnessed the prisoner number branded on his forearm. In Detroit is a small but powerful holocaust museum. It includes a video of his brother Bela in his prisoner uniform and it was haunting. The freedom to practice our religion is in our constitution and I am thankful I live in South Dakota and the United States of America. God bless all our elected officials and give them the strength to follow the constitution.
