    I will always enjoy watching you feed your rays. It makes me happy to see them happy.
    That gulper catfish though, that's just upsetting. There's no way he's going to make it. It's just a matter of time before he dies.
    I recognize the shovel nose was a tankmate and not an intended meal, but this is why I can't stand it when people feed gulper catfish something the same size as them or larger. Just because they can eat it, doesn't mean they should eat it. I genuinely believe that if you take in a fish you should give it the best life possible, and I don't believe it's healthy for a gulper catfish to have one absolutely massive meal a month. Gulpers shouldn't have tankmates and they shouldn't have massive meals.

      In the wild gulpers take a huge meal and it makes them super slow and an easy meal for other carnivorous species that are larger then it.

    • @twitteringothers5059
      @twitteringothers5059 2 роки тому +7

      I share your sentiment word for word.
      Just because the gulper can eat another fish of similar size or bigger doesn't mean it should be allowed to.
      I think by now those familiar with the fish should know well enough to keep it by itself or with fish which are far too massive to be eaten by it.
      Otherwise it is just cruel.

      So, we had a gulper named chubbles. We got him when he was 3 months old. We had so much bonding moments with him. We fed him, he was happy, and he was a dream come true. Now gulper catfish can live until the age of 15yrs old. Unfortunately, he died of temp shock. That was our saddest day of your lives, but we also realized how much fun we had with him.
      You see, gulpers aren’t intended to eat twice the size of themselves for views. Their a rare and endangered fish. They aren’t play-things. Treat them how we treated ours.

    Me and my family used to keep tropical fish in two 6ft tanks. We bred livebearers and egg layers too. I bred Albino Catfish too. My fave fishes though were Mollys. We had a pair of beautiful Golden Sailfin Mollys. They grew big and the Male had a magnificent sailfin. I love Rays they have amazing characters. I loved it when your Male was begging but when he blew water out of that hole was so cute. Seeing the Gulper like that was very distressing. He's not going to last much longer. I would've put him out of his misery myself. He could be in pain with that hole. My sister had a goldfish tank and she had a catfish with a big wide head. He bit the tail and back end off a big fan tail goldfish.

They were both pretty large and lived together for quite some time but one day the moray decided to go after the dragon fish and they both died. His stomach didn’t physically pop open but it looked just like that in every other way. Super sad to loose both of them like that.

      That gulper isn't suffering he doesn't even feel the pain they don't have nerve endings like that he might digest that and heal shut best thing would be to help out by choping the pat that's sticking out off after a few days and sow it shut let it heal and live smash it just because outta got a sore next time you cut your hand just bash your head with a rock so you don't suffer makes about as much sense

      I just paid 100$ for a pristine Madagascar, 2 days later I woke up to him with pretty much no scale, my oscar got him good. The Madagascar did recover, but i had to buy a 90 gal for him and put him in a treatment 40 gallon with malafix and he's okay looking now, upset he lost his sparkling white dots though
