- Hey guys!! We found a new way to install beach umbrellas so they are secure and will not blow away! And it is much quicker than digging a hole yourself or using a plastic anchor! We like a lot of shade and multiple umbrellas for our family. This method is super fast in the morning when you are setting up your family beach site for the day! 🏖

We’d love to hear from you! What did you think of this trick? Curious if you have tried this before?
Hi this is a great video. What Auger bit did your husband use and where did he buy it?
Thank you for the compliment!! We got ours at Ace hardware but the same thing is on Amazon. Check the link in description box should take you to it! Let me know if any issues!
Actually, I just checked the link and it looks like it may not be working? I’ll fix it!
"Involuntary Manslaughter"--Scotty McCarter you crack me up!!!!
😂 lol!!!!
I go to Laguna Beach ( Panama City beach west end ) in summers , there’s a huge dedicated beach . This year I noticed the professional guy w all the chairs & umbrellas installing down the beach - he used a drill (!!) I was shocked ! With this huge drill bit and easily placed all these heavy rentals in place !
After years of using the screw in anchors, I’m so glad I tried this. Not only does it save time but it’s so easy. August at the beach is hot and screwing in several umbrella can work up quite a lather. Sort of ruins coffee time. Not anymore!!
Anthony McCarter This is a great tip for beaches that don’t allow canopies!
Oak Island is our fave! That’s where we got married, and it’s a dog friendly beach! 🐶

Informative AND funny!! 🙏
This is so helpful! Thank you so much!!
Yay! That is the main reason for our channel - to help others. Thanks for watching!
I saw a man do this on the beach a couple years ago and I was so jealous. My umbrella always seems to be the only one not secure.
Give it a try Maddie! Hope you are able to enjoy some beach time this summer, with a secure umbrella!
Thank You made my Beach Days much better.
Yay! This makes me so happy to hear!!!
This was super helpful thank you for posting it!
You’re welcome!!
Thanks,helpful hint. 👌
Yay, glad to help! Thanks for watching!!
Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome Andy! Let us know if you try it out!!! 🏖
This is absolutely brilliant. Too bad I came to the beach without my drill. I'll be buying one at Home Depot just for this reason because I'm here for a month. It'll be worth every dime. :-)
Seen this trick in cancun 3 years ago it works 👍
Good job Scott, one of my coworkers watched it too and thought it was a great idea.
Thank you and Yay!!! Thanks for sharing with your coworker, and hope they try it out!! ❤️
Awesome. Thank you!!!
You’re welcome! If you try it out let us know how it worked for you! 🏖
Very helpful. Thank you.
You’re welcome Mayen! Thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment! Have a great day! 💕 Cathy
Hi there! We bought our green umbrella from Amazon and we love it! We’ve had it for 3 years now - definitely worth it! The brand is Frankford Umbrellas.
Thanks
Oh and he used a bit about twice as long as yours , so you’re doing Exactly what the pros do! Congrats
I'm going to use your drill idea. I can't believe I didn't think of that. LOL
Awesome Steve!! I hope it is a huge success for you! Let us know how it works out, and
We hope you have a great summer! 🌊
Cool, you are stars!
Sandy King 😊 💕
We take an old duffle bag and fill it with sand then secure it to the umbrella with a couple of bungee cords
Hi! I am liking this tip - but where do you attach the bungee cords to the umbrella? On the underside of the umbrella? It seems like this would definitely keep it in place - thanks for sharing your tip!!
Folly Beach is our go to beach ❤
That’s a pretty beach! We drove through there once and ate at a few restaurants! We loved the Taco Boy a lot!!! 💕 thanks for your comment 😃
In fact, we talk a little about our Folly beach experience in our Charleston SC travel vlog video. When I watch this back I always want those tacos again!! 😋 ua-cam.com/video/mEVKz1e1OxQ/v-deo.html
@@LivingGratefully yes taco boy is great!!! Love ya video's!
Where do you live full time. I’m in boiling springs lakes Nc
“The last thing you want on vacation, is go to jail for involuntary manslaughter.” 😂😂
lol! He’s hilarious! Thank you so much for watching Julia, I appreciate your comment too! ❤️ and happy Valentine’s Day! 💕 Cathy
I had this idea and I am wondering if it can be used in my backyard in the soil. Will that thing drill through soil? I was thinking I could drill a hole and then tap down a big enough width of PVC pipe to create a permanent spot to put my umbrella. I also agree with you on the safety factor I’ve seen umbrellas flying around on the beach and they really could kill somebody! Thank you for the video!
My husband said that drill bit should go through the soil! I like your idea for a backyard umbrella - let us know if it works out!!!
@@LivingGratefully thank you for your response and when I give it a try I’ll let you know what happened!
What is the name of the drill bit that you used?
Hi there! It’s Yard Butler Roto Earth 18” Aerating Irrigating Planting Auger Drill Bit. We purchased ours from ace hardware but it is available on Amazon. The link is in the description box on the video it will take you right to it - you can add to your Amazon cart if you like! Thanks for watching and for letting me hear from you!! We used this same technique and equipment on our beach trip to cherry grove last week!
The way people are today they will claim it and when you come out they will say its theirs and then how do you prove it? I hate leaving stuff unsupervised. I've had so many things stolen over the years while we were away from the umbrella. I cant imagine leaving all my stuff out there and then going back in.
Don’t be afraid of being nerd like.
If it works, it works.
Thank you for watching! And for your comment! 2 years later and we are still using this trick :) have a great day!

+M B oooh, I just looked that up and it looks gorgeous! Thanks for watching and commenting!! Cathy
Not everyone is going to bring a drill on vacation 🤷🏻♂️
He said your umbrella should be 18 to 24 inches in the sand , then he said the bit he was using was 1 1/4 x 16 inches ? Things that make ya go Hummmmm !!!!
We actually bought a bigger bit this year and it made it so much easier
And faster!
@@LivingGratefully Any links for the new size drill bit?
Hi there! Yes let me get that for ya. We got it at Home Depot.

This may prevent the umbrella from falling over but will not prevent the umbrella from lifting straight up. The canopy of an umbrella acts like an airfoil. Check out the Bernoulli Principle and see why an unweighted umbrella is extremely dangerous. Lottie Belk lost her life when a wooden shafted umbrella inserted 22” into the sand went airborne hit her in the chest and killed her. All umbrellas should be weighted...period.
