- Largest county museum in the state of Indiana! This place is VERY big, with 50,000 square feet of exhibits; 2,000 square feet larger than a football field! From prehistory to modern times, it will take two or three hours to tour! (It took me three)
The basement has an entire recreated city down there, including a two story cabin, antique cars, wildlife adventure area, and even a section devoted expressly to kids. Everyone will learn something in this comprehensive museum!
The facility is fully handicap accessible so anyone can enjoy this large and surprising place!

Thank-you!
I have that same exact barbershop sign in my bathroom! My bonus, Dad had it in his workshop.
i will visit real soon
Very cool place and nice people!
Roger, if you don't get compensated from the state of Indiana tourism office, YOU SHOULD!!!.
another excellent video
Thank-you, Gary! I don’t think the tourism folks in Indianapolis even know I’m down here. But this Hoosier has definitely done his part to promote something that’s worthwhile, and I don’t regret a moment I’ve spent on the road. 🙂
I volunteer my time here. It’s a great place to visit.
Really nice people and AMAZING museum, that’s so much bigger than it looks from the road!
Is Arni still volunteering? He was very kind to give me a personalized tour.
@@AdventureswithRoger yes. He is a real good guy.
@@edwardh1591 I want to thank you both, for volunteering and keeping a worthwhile place going! As I love history so much, it gives me an idea for the future! 🙂
Thank you for covering so many cool Southern Indiana landmarks. I am particularly interested in the Dubious museum as I have been told they have on display an American 🇺🇸 flag that was carried in the Civil war by my 3rd Great-Grandfather, Andrew Striegel who was gravely injured at Antietam while carrying this flag. I hope to see it someday!
Thanks for featuring this museum!
My pleasure, Michelle! The flag is displayed on ground level in the military section. I was in a rush to complete the museum, as it is huge, but would have liked to have spent more time in that part of the museum. You can easily spend 3 hours here, if you love reading the exhibit descriptions!
If you see a nice older man named Arnie, he is an outstanding guide to the exhibits and history: a walking encyclopedia of Dubois County. Tell him “the UA-cam guy says hello”! 🙂
@@AdventureswithRoger Thank you very much Roger. I absolutely love history, so yes I would be one to spend three hours reading!
Looking forward to seeing that flag, it’s incredible that it is there! Thanks for the location. I will definitely look up the guide when we go.
Again, my husband and I are enjoying your channel-it has inspired some of our road trips!
Safe travels to you!
It always makes me happy to hear I’ve inspired a family trip, a personal journey, or have brought back memories! I occasionally run into people when I’m filming, that watch the channel, and it’s a true pleasure to take a moment to talk and share stories! 🙂
I love my county museum. Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure Kru! It really was a surprise, how much there was to see!
We've driven past this place a thousand times, and never knew what we were missing. This one is a must see! Thanks!
That building looks so small from the road! I think I was there at least 3 hours, and that was filming only 30 second shots.
@@AdventureswithRoger I would have never guessed it contained so much. Told the wife about it last night after watching the video. We'll be checking it out. Too, I have some family lines there.
It’s like a shopping mall of history! One guy was actually in there doing laps. 🙂
Hey just wanted to let you know I'm at the museum, and a man named Arnie suggested your channel.
Tell Arnie I said “hello”! 🙂 Really good man with a wealth of information!
@@AdventureswithRoger I agree and I'll tell him ^^
He says hi back, and hope's you're doing well.
Doing well and still cranking out videos!
@@AdventureswithRoger ^^
Hey, congrats on 1k subs. I think that you should checkout the Shileldstown Covered Bridge just off hwy. 50 on crane hill between Brownstown and Seymour Indiana.
Thanks, William! I gotcha covered: 1:31 minute marker on below video:

You may know this, but I thought it was interesting. Seymour used to have a covered bridge, closer to I-65. I visited it many years ago. It fell into the river and is in someone’s barn at the moment. Estimate to fix it was around $2 million, so the town passed. Word has it that a town up north is going to get it.
