Simply can't beat a guitar made from high quality wood and a fine luthier who builds them by hand. And there is many top Luther's building them. And each guitar is unique in its own. I don't have a favorite brand name anymore myself.
Lower bout on my jumbo,(RainSong), is 17”, not “16 inch”, as John said….are the Gallagers narrower? As for “who is a jumbo for?”, I play mainly solo, so the jumbo with an Anthem, is a huge sound for a one man band! Really fills things out!
Hmm, funny! For some reason the size of that jumbo inspired me to research the mariachi guitar (guitarron) which apparently is a bass guitar and much larger…..Some awesome playing guys!😊
I like your comments about "who is this guitar made for." I have an Iris ABe (Adam Buckwald's take on a J-185) with Adirondack top, Rosewood back and sides, and a neck profile I can play. Very pretty guitar.

That maple really resonates on that guitar. Best sounding maple guitar I’ve heard.
Probably the best Jumbos I’ve heard. Better than Gibson if I’m hearing fairly.
