Your Appalachian accent is gorgeous! I grew up in WNC near Asheville and went to WCU for my bachelor’s degree. So glad I found your channel, I’m in Texas now and missing my beautiful mountains and Appalachian culture. Great stocking stuffers too. 🤍
Wanted to say I just love y’all. you take me back home and memory in many ways I just subscribed been watching your mama for a long time now I’ll watch all y’all. God bless you all. Have a merry Christmas and I hope all the families doing well. Much love from Melissa Rooker.
While I grew up in California my folks were from W. Virginia and Arkansas. So i grew up getting nuts, fruit and candies in my stocking. I just thought this was normal until i grew up and found out most people out west do not do this. To them a stocking stuffer is a small gift, material item. So after I got out and explored the world it wasn't until then did i realize while I was a California boy I did grow up with a lot of old timey mountain traditions, especially the foods.
I grew up out west in the 70s (now in lovely Appalchia!) Our stockings had an orange, peanuts, not wrapped old timey hard candy, and that was it. That was pretty normal then. By the 80s and 90s, that was long gone and it was pens, notebooks, calculators, hair ties, toothbrushes and toothpaste, etc. Lol.
I never heard of fruit and nuts in stockings until I met my husband- that how he grew up. Yes I did have the mixed nuts during the holidays however they weren’t never in our stockings and no fruit.. but now we’ve raised our kids the same way, little gifts ( chap sticks, beef jerky)in stockings with fruit, candy,
@@latinamarie80 I find that hard to believe but, I can tell you fruit and nuts go back to first and earlier Christmas Days from England and Germany where the tradition of putting them in your stocking, when, people used their socks! In fact people then, have been doing it for many of the following yrs to come as well as other old fashioned type of candies!
@@sonyafox3271 what’s hard to believe? I said I have nuts but they where always on gma table with the nut crackers- not on my stocking, and stocking was full of little gift not food!
Nuts, fruit and candy are definitely traditional old timey stocking stuffers. We got that plus gum, toothbrush, lip balm and usually mail order number 2 school pencils with our names on them.
You are just practical. That is a rare quality. Do not ever leave those hills you live in. You would be disappointed in the rest of the world. At least I think yor ur family would loose … innocence.
Thank you. My wife has been dead 4 yrs and your 3 gift ideas are a big help to me. You and your sister are the kind of girls my wife was. God bless you!
I didn’t know people got presents in their stocking until I got married. We always got an orange, a handfull of uncracked walnuts to crack, a candy cane and some homemade fudge my Mom made. That is what I put in my husband’s stocking the first year we were married, I think he wondered where the real gifts were. 😊
my sentiments exactly about the ick factor of taking a bath vs a shower: until, I was learned while living in Asia/S.East Asia to bathe /scub and rinse before soaking in the bath. soak in lavender not dirt and sweat. Also, the honey sticks and the tip about local honey and allergies is golden.
A good list. Some I had never thought of before. We always got an orange in the toe of our stockings and a handful of nuts in their shell God bless you and Austin! 🎄❤️🎄❤️🎄
So funny about “dirt soup” 😂 In some cultures they shower prior to a relaxation bath, so you’re not the only one who feels that way. 😊 Thank you for some great stocking ideas! 👍
Hello Corie and Austin, I just loved watching the two of you decorate your tree last year! The unboxing and talk of memories was so special! Could you please do a tree decorating video again or maybe speak about your memories from last Christmas until this one! Love watching you, Corie! Thanks for sharing God’s word so eloquently! I appreciate your faith! 🙏🏻❤️✝️
You had some great ideas! The bath thing was so funny! You girls are awesome! We don't have much of gift-giving anymore. We're old & don't need or want anything; hubby will probably be in a less intensive inpatient rehab place then & I'll spend the day there with him. It's definitely been tough seeing him go thru all this but it's brought us closer & has brought him closer to God. We've been married 47 yrs on the 12th, dated for 2 yrs. We've had better & more meaningful conversations than we've had in years. I know God is in control and will always be with us. Hubby's healing will be in God's time. I struggle with some things, but I am managing by the Grace of God. Christmas is celebrating Jesus and that's what we'll do. Much love, hugs & blessings from VA!
Phone wipes is such a good idea, I never think of how dirty my phone is until I splash something on it or drop it. I love having a pocket knife, I use it so often, mine is meant for whittling but I can’t tell you how nice it is to have one in your purse! Mine closes and has a metal twist turn that keeps it closed or open. Dirt soup 🤣🤣🤣 that’s hilarious! Basted in your own stink! Also I love your gift tips, you have great ideas, and I rarely go practical and totally should! I do like getting “fancy” snacks from places like TJMAXX, it’s fun to find unique gifts like flavored olive oil or spices I don’t normally find. I usually stock up on Pink salt there, and sometimes they have nice jars or bottles it comes in.
When my kids were little we always did practical but still fun stocking staffers. Like a electric toothbrush, mouthwash and flossers in fun colors, body wash with a loofa( we were poor so its bar soap the rest of the year). A body fragrance, and of course candy. Had to edit to add that the bath comment cracked me up. I never bathe either. My mom always said youre just sitting in your own dirt when you take a bath. And growing up hearing that I have always been grossed out by them.
I love your channel and especially the music. I am in California but had ancestors in North Carolina and Tennessee 200 years ago. I love the deep culture in your area and envy you for the local community and connections.
Here is what I want to find in my stocking. Decorative soap for the bathroom, a pair of inexpensive garden gloves, I also like gel pens especially in multi colors like lime green lavender and bright pink and orange. Jelly belly jelly beans. Specialty Tea bags individually package. Individually wrapped homemade cookies or fudge. Hot chocolate or individually packs of Keurig coffee. Fishing hooks and bobbers. Small sewing kit. Small brush for purse. A inexpensive book light. Nuts and Christmas candy canes. Hand sanitizer and wet wipes for purse. Nail files or nail clippers. Hershey bars or m & m’s, earrings. Hint water in bottle or sprite in bottle. Bookmarks. Small pill case or contact cases. Hair Ornaments or decoration like hair bands, scrunchies or headbands. Soft socks or slippers. Small notepad for purse or posted note packs. Jar of cinnamon or something that smells cinnamon like. Cute wall hook. Nail polish. Lipstick or hand lotion. Car wash booklets. Gift certificate to Mickey D’s drive through. Pack of playing cards Euchre. Individually wrapped Kleenex for purse. Nostalgic candy like wafers or sugar babies or milk duds or cow tails. Red licorice rope. Laggy Taffy. No coal in my stocking or shoes. As I have been good all year Santa Clause. Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!
😂 YES!!! I’m old now and the prospect of a bath would be calling the fire 🔥 department to get me out of the tub!😂🤣 However, when I was young if I took a soak in epsom salts, I would unplug the tub, stand up and turn the shower on to get proper clean! So I feel your pain of brining yourself like a turkey 😂♥️🤣
I love how generally simple and humble (and practical!) these gift ideas are. I feel like so many people could afford to listen to ideas like these to put things into perspective (for people who perhaps feel obligated to make presents a big, expensive affair).
I always try to give my girls a small but nice little piece of jewelry in their stocking. Your ideas are great. We do a lot of them. Thanks for the reminders Kori.

Wow! Pens are a great idea! I also have a pen monster that follows me around. I will be using the pen idea. I may combine the sticky notes and pens as an office gift. I may throw in some candy. Thank you.
Hi Sweetie, you just saved me a trip to the store. I needed one more stocking stuffer and I remembered there was an ornament tucked away. I found it in the first place I looked. Thanks, and I loved all your ideas! PS The perfect solution to missing pens is to own only one. That one pen suddenly becomes quite valuable, and you’re sure to never lose it!

My mama always put fun stuff like this in our stockings and honestly, the camping section is where I get most of mine now, my favorites have been , tiny camping toilet paper(perfect for the men and hunters in your life😜), a tiny pack of toilet seat covers, knife sharpeners, reusable hand warmers or hot hands, and basically any portable gadget in the camping/ outdoors area- plus candies, soaps, travel section stuff, and ps those shower tablets and phone wipes were great ideas! Thanks 😊
Thank you so much for practical but nice stocking stuffers. I injured the tendon in my right foot two days ago so no driving or walking for me until my follow up with the ortho doctor in another week. I ordered some items for my family like the mints and items from Vermont bees. As a child we always got candy, nuts and fruit along with a small gift in our stocking and we were allowed to open these items before our parents were up.
The claws for shredding meat are awesome! They are extremely fast and you don’t have to worry about burning your hands or touching (even with gloves,) all the meat.
Stockings is my favorite thing at Christmas. I always fix breakfast and set the stockings at each place on the table or hang it from the back of the chairs. Everyone goes through and opens the tiny gifts while we eat breakfast.
Thanks for the ideas, I’ve never heard of shower balms cool idea, I’m a shower gal to, got itchy taking bubble baths from the bubbles and get bladder infections to, so I stopped years ago having baths, sensitive skin.
Enjoyed this! Great ideas! I love knives and an old timer is a great knife ! My dad carried an old timer pocket knife when I was a kid( i still have it) and the first knife i got in my stocking ,when I was 8 years old was an old timer pocket knife , and I still have it ! I love grilling all kinds of meat ,and the different spices are awesome! Can never go wrong with beef jerky, great snack when out hunting, fishing, hiking or anytime! Thanks for sharing these awesome ideas ! Appreciate you always...God bless..🙏❤
Just ordered your Vermont lip gloss (3) and 3 of the salves. Thanks so much for sharing this great video! We all need help with stocking stuffers!! It really helped! I also purchased some of your handmade soap. Love handmade soaps. Keep making them 👍🥰
Those vintage mint tins are cool! And (as a man) I can say that getting a new pocket knife is always great! Once again these were all good ideas, thank you :D
Great tips! But you can shower the dirt off if your really dirty. Then you are clean you can get into a nice bath to relax and soak and meditate and all kinds of peaceful things. But my late husband used to say like you. He said stew in your own juices.
I laughed so hard about the dirt soup. My husband has said those exact words to me so many times. I'm sorry y'all, I guess I'm funky. I like cooking myself in my own dirt. 😂 ANYWAY, back to the main point. Totally using the jerky & honey ideas!!
Oh my goodness. I love your video. You are so cute, and I got some really good ideas for stocking stuffers for my kids and their spouses. Can't wait to watch more of your videos
Those are great ideas for gift giving! Candy is always an excellent choice! I use sticky notes every single day! Your tree is beautiful! Thanks for the ideas they are all very good!
Great stocking stuffer ideas. I haven't taken a sitz bath in years. Never thought about it but you are right about sitting in your own dirt. The ending of the video was absolutely hilarious.
I found all your pens and pencils at my house. 😂 My kids are young adults and I like to fill their stockings with some of their favorite candy and travel sized shampoo, lotion, deodorant and such. A fun pair of socks, hair scrunches, hot drink mixes and their favorite nuts. I try to keep it around $20/ stocking but it is getting difficult.
Great ideas for stocking stuffers! You are actually right about a bath being dirt soup! Lol! Even a gyn doctor will tell you that showers are better for women than a bath. Hope y’all are having fun getting ready for Christmas. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida 😎🦩🌞🦩😎
This would not be for a stocking but a really nice sentimental and inexpensive gift would be a pillow made from a loved ones article of clothing. When my precious daddy went home to be with Jesus, he left behind a great number of flannel shirts. I took them and made throw pillows. He was 91 years old and loved by all of the family. The pillows were something that everyone liked because it was part of daddy. Even though l washed the shirts prior to making pillows, several family members said that they could still smell daddy's scent.
Thank you so much these are wonderful ideas !!! You are hilarious I enjoyed the ending so much !!! Love the shower steamer I had no idea they made such a thing
Hey....just so you know. The coat for the beer I actually used to insulate and keep tour beer cold! 😉😉. Always put candy in my kids stockings. Son and son in laws I always did different kinds of jerky! I also did gag gifts at times for adults. Great ideas and some I have done too. Well, actually I've done most of these. Lol I just heard you mention the jerky! Lol God bless all here.
In my family the grownup kids (legal, and out of the house) got a bottle of wine, and kids who were still in the house got hygiene things like a toothbrush, floss, maybe those sheet face masks, chapstick etc. We also got chocolate and maybe a magazine (for my dad he got a star wars magazine cause thats his favourite genre) and its always been fun like that. Im 17 and still enjoy getting a new toothbrush haha.

LOVE the camera idea! Perfect for kids too! Doing that for sure for my girls. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
I get my sons a meat rub. They loved it. Your list is great. Thank you for sharing.
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Hey those are a lot of helpful ideas, Corie! Thank you! Love all your videos. 💞 🙌🏼
I love getting home canned goods. They taste so much better than store bought!!
Love this as much as 1 & 2 👌 and btw .. totally agree about taking showers 🚿 vs baths 🛀 🤮
Nice tree. I just make chocolate mousse cups or cookies or socks, but your ideas would work as well.
Thank you so much these are wonderful ideas !!! You are hilarious I enjoyed the ending so much !!! Love the shower steamer I had no idea they made such a thing
lol I feel the same way about baths. Glad to know I'm not weird lol.
Lol
God bless all here.
