Robert's 20,000ft skydive in the Bay of Islands
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2021
- On Sunday morning, 31st January 2021, I forever offset the number of times I had taken off in a plane from the number of times I had landed in one.
From 20,000 feet Ilka and I fell at around 200kph for about 80 seconds. Then I even got to steer before we landed!
I had an incredible time and would highly recommend it.
robert is going to jump out of the flying machine - roll a constitution saving throw, please.
🤣🤣🤣
Everybody gangsta till she says "roll a constitution saving throw"
Nah, my Con is through the roof, I'm fine.
Oww, it's my second dream))))) Very cool, Robert!!!!
Look Bodger.. they use parachute!
He's trying to feel the sensation of falling from height so he can narrate when Baradun & Co. is falling from height 😂
Legit though, I did think about what it would be like to fall and have feather fall cast on you.
@@RobertHartleyGM but what if they don't have feather fall? 😂

I fully expect to have this experience incorporated into some NPC DnD
I cannot help but think about that poor whale in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy! He must have rolled a nat 1 !
And the vase just pondered "Oh no, not again..." which is explained in the next 2 books XD
Looks like the best golf I have ever seen!
I felt like a birdie, that's for sure.
Rowan sees that: I bet I can do that without a chute.
Bodger jumps off the airship
Oh my... can I pass out now?
Didn't even wear the brown pants,
insuring it's only a red splat.
So awesome, Rob! You have more guts than I.
Wow, that looks brilliant fun. It was cool hearing you describe everything and pair that up to the video from the camera dude hanging out the plane to you standing up too tall after you landed. Congrats on the successful jump and sharing with us.
It was incredible. Truly unforgettable experience!
The music is used to cover the screams D&D master
Amazing Rob!! It's all about our experiences in life! Good job mate!
That looks like you had a blast! I still don't think skydiving is on my bucket list nor do I think I am going to put it on there. I have a hard enough time getting into an airplane. Nope I think I will keep my feet on the ground. There is a reason I am only 5'1" heights scare me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That looks both thrilling and terrifying. Might have to try it myself sometime :)
DO IT!
@@RobertHartleyGM I just found out that many skydiving places have goggles that fit over regular glasses, so I might just be able to :D I didn't think I could because I can't wear contacts and my eyesight is bloody TERRIBLE XP
Blimey, well done sir! I've never jumped out of a plane (tried twice but both cancelled due to bad weather) but at least I did a bungee when I was in NZ (Kawaru Bridge), amazing and terrifying experience! 🤘
Well done, Rob! A braver man than I. Looks like you had a great time.
It was incredible!
How smooth was that landing 😳
I couldnt and wouldnt
Glad you had an awesome day tho mate cheers!
Please tell me your not about to... OMG... he just jumped out of a plane. 😯
Rob: I'd like to reach back and pull my parachute cord
Instructor: Okay, make an Athletics check
Rob: Uhh... Nat 1.
Instructor: Oh, that IS unfortunate. As you reach back, you fumble around for the cord but are having a difficult time locating it. You finally grasp what you are fairly certain is your parachute cord and pull it, only to realize you just released your rigging. You're now tumbling towards the ground at terminal velocity with your rigging above you. What do you do?
I try get my rigging back on?
@@RobertHartleyGM Your rigging is tumbling quite a lot, it's difficult to get a grasp on it. Make a Dexterity check.
@@StupidButCunning Oof, 6 plus 3. So that's a 9 total.
Edit: Oh wait, that's a save. Check is just 6 plus 1. So 7 total
@@RobertHartleyGM You lunge for your rigging but only end up pushing it even further away. The ground rapidly approaches as you impact it, hard. Take... *rolls 20d6* 63 bludgeoning damage. Does that reduce your HP to 0? Remember, as per my home rules, whenever you fall from over 200 feet and are reduced to 0 HP, you die instantly.
@@StupidButCunning That depends, did I have a second to rage before I hit?
Yay!!! I've been looking forward to this since you previewed it on twitch
Bodger would be proud
Haha, true. Only I had my catcher already strapped to me!
Proof perhaps that you are not a Barbarian?
It looks like awesome fun. I've flown from a skydiving airfield, but never had to jump out of the plane luckily.
That was SO MANY fist bumps!
Looks amazing! She looks so chill.
...Rob all packed up like a baby, while his guardian angle goes t-shirt
Wow, I didn't believe my eyes, when I saw your t-shirt during the stream, but now I do. Such a bravery, respect for doing it and in such an effortless manner, Rob! It always have amazed me what are humans capable of! Skydiving has been my dream for decades (even had night dreams about it), but I haven't find the courage to do it and you have, it's wonderful, I'm so glad you did it. And flying suits you, to be honest. :) Also I think, it'll be great to rewatch the D&D episode with Bodger's skydiving after this video, it adds so much depth to this episode. :) Just wondering, was this skydive the one time experience for you, or have you jumped again since then (or do you want to)?
I haven;t jumped again yet but I will one day. One of the best experiences of my life. DO IT.
@@RobertHartleyGM You know what, as a matter of fact, after your great example I totally would do it, if I hadn't big problems with my spine and a weak vestibular apparatus. :( But you are already inspiring in so many ways, and this inspiration also helps me fight my fears, so if one day I skydive one way or another (maybe not literally, but chasing my other dreams, and it's not less important), then it will be partly thanks to you. :)
🙈👀🙈
Is there a way to prepare for or prevent the sudden decompression? Maybe on the trip up? I'm a scuba diver and we descend in stages, but it doesn't seem you get that luxury falling through the air!
If there is, I wasn't told it. Just the nose close ear blow.
@@RobertHartleyGM well small price to pay I suppose! Great footage!
The pressure change you experience when skydiving is very minimal compared to scuba-diving. The pressure at ground level is ~1bar, at 20000ft you have ~0.5bar. Therefore you experience a pressure change of +0.5bar. Thats the equivalent of descending 5m from the surface in the same time (1bar -> 1.5 bar). From my personal experience, and considering the duration if the fall, I would say you descent much faster than 5m/90sec when scubadiving. Another difference is the maximum pressure gradient. While at skydiving you have (theoretically) a maximum difference of 1 bar (jumping from outside the atmosphere, perfect vacuum), under water you have basically no limit. For each 10m you descend you add an additional 1bar of pressure. So at around 20m (~the adviced maximum depth for beginner divers you already have a pressure difference 4 times bigger than what Rob experienced. I guess the scubadivers can give advice to the skydivers, not otherwise. 🤔
@@Toobiwoobi I'll take your word for it! All I know is that having been scuba diving within 48 hours of the jump makes you ineligible to jump. Thankfully, I don't scuba!
you wot mate
Next try some bungie jumping. I've never been in a plane and landed in it.
I've bungee jumped twice already! Once from the highest water-touch in NZ and once from the highest in NZ.
Awesome! New fan here, started watching with the Epic NPC man D&D!!
Glad to have you here.
