Did breed few batch in the past here main majority came out with sashi tail which is sad as I don’t have the the proper good line from the breeding oya but just looking at your creations it inspired me to keep working on it for now keep culling.

    What is the coldest temperature in this pond ? They have been in this pond all reasons ? Any filtration system ? So cool

    • @thompsonglass
      @thompsonglass  Рік тому

      In the winter I keep the water temp in the low 50's. No filtration, just an airstone. I move them to a fresh pond every 5-7 days when the water quality declines

      I follow the Japanese method of 100% water changes. No filter of any type, only an airstone and 100% water changes by moving the ranchu into a fresh pond. :-)

      @@NganNguyen-ev2pu Hello! There is no filtration. Only an airstone. when a water change is needed the ranchu are moved into a fresh pond. All the top ranchu in Jpana are raised this way. This method is less common in the West.

    Is 88f to hot for ranchu goldfish?

    • @thompsonglass
      @thompsonglass  3 роки тому

      Yes I think it's too hot. If water temps go above 84-85 deg F I will increase aeration and decrease feeding

  • @eddypurnomo4624
    @eddypurnomo4624 4 роки тому

    nước thấp vậy xao

    • @thompsonglass
      @thompsonglass  3 роки тому

      Yes, that is part of the traditional Japanese method for raising ranchu. The low water level helps preserve the beautiful and open shape of the tail. Deeper water creates more water pressure on the delicate tail bones and can collapse the tail.
