Thank you so much for these tutorials I've watched all of them because I play guitar and sing for my church and these tutorials are very helpful God bless you with this amazing talent that you have and share with people
I remember learning how to strum took me forever, but it happened. I would get off work and practice every night. Perseverance amd repetition is key. You got this!!
Learn the four notes and strum on time with a metronome. It helps to learn to sing the song first and then add the guitar in and practise with your eyes closed so you dont keep looking at your hands
Brian, thank you for this tutorial. I love that you showed the 3 note piano parts. I was in the worship leaders FB group, but left it and enjoy your UA-cam page much better. Thanks for sharing your gifts and knowledge with us. God bless 🙏
I've been waiting on this tutorial! Thanks. I've been working on it to do for church and yes the bridge is hard for me to sing and play! I was going to get my other singer to do the bridge since it is a little tricky. I do it in a higher key since I'm a girl but I love this song! I may get a video when we do it and link it in these comments. Thanks to your videos I've found out about Elevation worship (a couple months ago) , I had never heard of them before. Wow I love Elevation worship. Such powerful lyrics and beautiful melodies! Thanks again! :-)
Wow! A very very nice redition and instructional video of this song by Brian here! However, I have one clarification / correction to make - Brian's version of a "C" chord here is actually a "C2" chord, due to the added "D" note on the 2nd (B) string. But this actually gives a really nice "droning effect throughout" on the upper 1st & 2nd strings, due to the additional "D" note in his "C" chord, and also in his "G" chord too, as well as the very same natural "D" note in the "D" chord. Furthermore, Brian's suggestion to simply play his version of the "C" chord (which, again, is actually a "C2" chord) in place of a "C6" chord (which would technically include an "A" note and no "D" note) makes perfect sense, simply because his added "D" note is not only the 2nd tone in the scale for a normal "C" major chord, but it is also the all-important 4th tone to the desired additional "A" note of a "C6" chord, and it is also the all-important 5th tone of his added "D" note that Brian plays in his version of a "C" chord here, and all of these 2 notes (D & A) exist in the relevant scales of C, D, and A. Therefore, the "C2" chord, in general, fits in very nicely in lieu of a "C6" chord, as Brian inadvertently suggests. Moreover, this type of "trick" (playing a "2" chord in lieu of a "6" chord) can typically be used more broadly and readily as a good alternative chord in almost every instance of a "6" chord, for ANY key. I hope my music theory is correct here and that I am not misleading everyone. I just found this technical information, by my own observations, to be quite useful. I hope you all do too. ...Brian, thanks for sharing such a really nice and well explained instructional video! ...God Bless!
Hey Brian, thanks for this tutorial and for all the other stuff you do, you guys at WT are true servants of the worldwide worship music community! I am learing this song for the first time to play bass this coming Sunday so I have also been looking at Mike Brandenstein's bass tutorial and consulting the lead sheet I downloaded from SongSelect. I want to argue with you over the timing of the commencement of the instrumental before the bridge. You have the start of the riff on the 4th beat of the bar (at 09:26 in this video) but surely it is half a beat before that as per the lead sheet and Mr Brandenstein's video. Our worship leader this week is female so we are in C (PTL for Audacity to chage MP3 keys!!).
Thx Brian...truly appreciate ur obedience! Praying for protection upon u and your family as the enemy hates what your doing. Been following you for a while now and I've had the privilege to see u and the biz grow. You've aged a bit too lol. But we've all hv! One request if i may, in the description of the song can u note which pad u are playing??? Thx! God bless family!
Yes, the original key by Elevation Worship Band is B-flat; So going from G to B-flat would be counted as: G to A (2 half steps), then A to B-flat (1 half step), then adding these together gives you a total of 3 half steps difference between G and B-flat. So yes, playing as in key of G with capo on 3rd fret gives you a tonal effect of key of B-flat, which, is the original key played by Elevation Worship Band.. ...You can also think of it this way while trying to visualize the chord shapes - Playing as in key of A (which I prefer) is 1 half step down from B-flat and so placing a capo on the 1st fret would bring the tonal effect up 1/2 step into the key of B-flat. Then, likewise, playing it as in key of G (2 half steps down from key of A) and moving the capo up 2 more half steps from the 1st to the 3rd fret will put the tonal effect up 2 more half steps into the key of B-flat, which, again, is the original key played by Elevation Worship Band.
I learned the intro to the chorus myself on my own, and I'm not sure if this is an actual chord, But second Fret of low E and G, and third fret of B and high E sound okay to me as an easier alternative to D/F# I also usually play a G instead of G/B
Brian thanks so much for the tutorial. We are actually doing this on Sunday (2 more days) & I've watched several times but unable to see clearly how you position your fingers on the bridge, going back & forth from the G/B-C to the D/F#/G. I feel like it's awkward & sloppy to switch playing these exact chords ~ it looks like you have a little shortcut. Can you explain? Thanks ~ triple thanks if you can explain before Sunday!
When you sing without the mic, I notice your pitch isn’t as accurate, are you using auto tune when you sing in mic? This is puzzling me, I don’t use auto tune ever,
You know what? Almost every tutorial you guys do, you always play a song in a different key, because you can’t sing it in the original. Why can’t you get a girl or someone with a higher register to teach us the original song in the original key? Some ppl don’t know or understand how to transpose on guitar. But they can sing it fine without having to change the key. Just a thought.
Kira S it’s the same chords just move the capo if you can’t transpose (he mentions “or put it up at 3rd fret if you want to play with the album”). This is meant to be the simple version, where you can just move the capo where you need it and play.
While I appreciate the effort to help guitar players learn this song, I can't believe you just recommended using the thumb over the top to play a bass note! That is horrible technigue and not a method to be encouraged.
One of the best UA-cam channel where to learn to play several awesome songs.
Thank you for being such a good teachers.
Thank you so much for these tutorials I've watched all of them because I play guitar and sing for my church and these tutorials are very helpful God bless you with this amazing talent that you have and share with people
Thank you brother on the advice of singing and playing at the same time I’ve been struggling with that . Learn the guitar part first 🙏
Amazing, intuitive explanation of how to play this song. Thanks you!...
Great job, thanks man. You make it as easy as putting on shoes.

Never give up, you will get it!

Hi Can you do a tutorial on Abba I belong to you please? thank you & God Bless You
Soo if I was to put the capo on the 3rd fret and play these chords would I be playing along with the original version?
since no one answered you... yes
Yes.
Brother I think in 4fh freat I’ll be original one
Yes, the original key by Elevation Worship Band is B-flat; So going from G to B-flat would be counted as: G to A (2 half steps), then A to B-flat (1 half step), then adding these together gives you a total of 3 half steps difference between G and B-flat. When you sing without the mic, I notice your pitch isn’t as accurate, are you using auto tune when you sing in mic? This is puzzling me, I don’t use auto tune ever,
Yeah I use pitch correction on all the song videos but not in the tutorial videos.
I’m having trouble with the strumming patterns
i do it slowly at first... it gets better in time
Whats that guitar?
If I don't mistake it's Martin D45
Not the Steely Dan song i thought it was
d udud udud du
I’m confused...
doing brians 4/4 strum {he almost exclusively does it to most of his songs) helped me... the other parts just fall in eventually as u sing it...
"one... two... threeFOURRRR...one..." , yeah...that's not how it works lol
it worked for me bro...

Hard to follow
Don't worry, you get better. This tutorial isn't that hard to follow.
after you do the 4/4 strums of brian's d udud udud du.... and half d d d dud2x. it starts to blend pretty well. God bless bro!
While I appreciate the effort to help guitar players learn this song, I can't believe you just recommended using the thumb over the top to play a bass note! That is horrible technigue and not a method to be encouraged.
Nicely done.. Thank you!
