I think you will get a lot more views during these troubled times during Covid. I’ve been with my company 25 years and am going in today to be made redundant. Although I have some savings and will get a payout I’m concerned I might not work again. We are often defined by our job and to lose it is a serious setback to your self esteem

So sorry to hear this. I couldn't agree more that we become linked to our roles and it becomes part of who we are and how we see ourselves. But don't forget to embrace this opportunity. What are the things you still want to achieve, or would love to do as a career. Changing your mindset is the first step in changing your life. Wishing you all the best. 🙌

Thanks for this video, Liz. Just been made redundant myself. Terrible timing with Covid affecting the economy, plus I have a mortgage and bills to pay. Tough times so thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi Liz. Thank you for this video. I've literally just been told I'm being made redundant in the next few months, from a company that I've worked in since I was 18 (now 36.) I've spent 18 years getting to a position where I've helped develop the company and secure it's future, and suddenly a new director has found a way to bypass the entire side of the business I'm responsible for.
Your video helped. You deserve more recognition!

hey, thanks for the video and tips. I get the so what are you doing next annoyance. Also i know its very easy to ask but i get quite resentful when people ask "hows the job search" a week after being made redundant. Pretty shit actually! Although i appreciate its hard for people who havent been made redundant to know what to say.

I'm working for 12 years. I love my work place. My boss and family very good people. Learned so much, I'm grateful. Covid 19 lock down affect our business sale gone down. Put us on furlough but not enough work for everyone. Reduce work force.

Thank you for that Liz. I too was made redundant (for the second time) back in December. Unlike you I didn't enjoy where I worked but am finding it hard to deal with. I'm trying to build my own business as a result but it feels like a long journey ahead. Thanks again for your video, you should have a lot more views and subscribers than you do. Sean.

Hi Sean, thank you so much for your message. That's incredible that you're building your own business. I'm funnily enough doing the same, and can completely relate to how long it's taking. Patience is not my forte either haha. So glad you enjoyed the video and good luck with your venture :)

      Hi Liz,
great news you are trying to build your own business too. I hear what you are saying about being patient, it's not easy. I am a creative designer who can now offer the complete creative service; ads, branding, websites etc. and have just landed my first website to redesign for a business. I can always dip into freelance of course when that arises but I'm going to give it a go. How about you? BTW if you want to keep that info private my email is lane.sean61@gmail.com All the best with everything.

I just got made redundant and I'm terrified. I'm 23, was at the company for two years and loved it. Like you said about your workplace, we were a big family. I have no idea what to do or what I want to do. It's so overwhelming and lonely.

Hi Amber, thank you so much for watching my video. I'm so sorry to hear you've just been made redundant, and at such a time like this. My heart goes out to you. It is so lonely when you've got used to having such an amazing team around you, it's almost like a bereavement. I found this a great opportunity to find the next thing I love. Make sure you get some positive people around you, and think about what you'd love to get involved with. I started by writing down all the things I really wanted to do when I was younger and then started building from there. Volunteering during this time is also great, I found this really helpful just to get me out of the house and meeting new people. I hope that helps, but I promise you'll come out of this. Remember how awesome you are, and that redundacy is no reflection on you, it's just a shitty thing that happens. Sending you a big squeeze. x
