I’m almost 62 years old and have been fishing since the mid 1970s. I gained a lot of respect for you watching the tournament live when you had to deal with a “bully” on the water. I’m not sure I could have handled the situation as gracefully and classy as you did. I’ve seen it happen too many times in my 40 some years of tournament fishing and I hope the next time it happens to me, I can remember your example of how to correctly handle it. True class act and you’ve gained a big supporter.
Great recap!!! Very proud of how you handled the situation on Day 2. Just goes to show who the better man is and you have the best person within you to guide you in those situations!!! 😇 Have a Blessed 4th!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
I am now a a huge fan sir. I have never commented on UA-cam videos until tonight when I watched “Sir” Wheelers response. Appreciate your professionalism and how you represent our sport! Best of luck for the remainder of the year….
Thank you! As he mentioned, on Day 1 I pulled in and fished this “spot” about an hour or so before the tide got right and only caught non scoreables, but when I came back on the ideal tide he was sitting there. Lots of water gets shared in all these events
Matt, great info as always. I’m I fan of yours and Jacobs but I felt like you handled the situation better than Jacob. In JW video he made it sound like you all talked on the phone and all was good. Did you walk away from the conversation feeling the same way? JW also said in his video that he was playing defense and made it sound (at least to me) like that is a normal practice in professional bass fishing. Do you and other pro anglers feel that this defensive approach is ok? As a fan of the sport I really don’t know what is acceptable behavior between angers and what isn’t. I think for most of us watching it seemed like he just cut you off. Anyways, thanks for the content bro.
I appreciate you watching! We did talk it out after lines out. After talking, I have no issue with him playing “defense” and cutting in front of me. What I do have an issue with was he was playing the card that I was only there cause I saw him on day 1, which is absolutely crap. I wouldn’t say that “defense” is a normal practice but it definitely happens for sure. For me personally, I only worry about myself and catching more bass. Appreciate the comment!
Very professional and great job on the water.
Thank you very much!

Appreciate the post event reports. Congrats on a solid finish. How difficult was it to take the plunge into professional fishing?
Good question! It’s definitely difficult to get started but with each year it snowballs into the next
Did you really see Jacob on that spot were he pulled up at earlier in the week or tournament? Great top 15 finish.

@@MattBeckerFishingThanks for the response and Goodluck next tournament
How long had you been sitting in that place before wheeler pulled up?
I had been there about 15/20 min before that and actually had just caught one and was still live from that fish catch
You might be able to go watch it on MLF now, Matt did good 😎
