It was so humbling and such an honor to be there and learn. Thank you for sharing your time and your knowledge. Ben and Billy's skills were off the charts! Meg, your skills for preserving are a blessing, and thank you for answering my questions. A day I will cherish and use on my own little homestead! Nate is such a nice guy! Missed you, Katie!
This is a better event recap than we could ever ask for. Thanks so much for capturing all of the stages of the event. The Hollar Homestead knocked it out of the park!
Wow! This was great! I didn't know there were classes for this! My Dad used to butcher our beef from killing to cutting up and I'd heard of scalding pigs but never seen it done. We had huge cast iron tubs in our yard when I was a kid that Mom planted flowers in, my Dad told me that in the "old days" they were used to scald pigs.
I love the community you all have built with other homesteaders. I grew up with neighbors helping each other. Good memories. It would be almost impossible to be e totally “self” sufficient.
Nate, that was great! You did a good job catching the goings on, and Meg showing how she does the after stuff (equally as important to know WHAT to do with everything after the parting out), was really nice.
So awesome to see such community. I remember neighbors getting together when I was a child at butchering time. It’s nice to see people helping one another.
I wrote a paragraph and I didn't save it. Let's try again. Nate, THANK YOU for HELPING behind the scenes. YOU'RE a kind, Loving, respectful Friend/FAMILY. YOU'LL FIND what NEXT needs to be done and do it. Even thou, it's not a fun thing to do. It just needs to be completed. You and your wife are kind, Loving, gentle, thou firm people with a giving ❤️❤️ heart. I've watched your VLOGS for year's. You're both compliment each other. GOD has BLESSED you with a HOMESTEAD, the PERFECT ONE. It was worth all the traveling and researching time. You've met many, many kind true friend's. You treat your animal's excellent. I love you both, even thou, we've never met. I respect your decision's and moral standards. GOD BLESS EACH of YOU and your family. How are your son's ❓ CHOW FROM S E MICHIGAN 🀄🛐🤟🤟. You're doing a fabulous job on your home . You turned a house into a LOVING HOME SWEET HOME ❤️❤️🀄
Next think about something under . I really enjoyed this I watch couple enjoy your show as well thanks to the both of you for sharing. Love from Virginia
Hey Nate, thanks for the video, and was great meeting you and seeing you work / teach Saturday! I hadn't heard of your UA-cam channel until now so I happily subscribed, look forward to watching some more!
Awesome episode Nate! I keep thinking about your burn barrel video. I walked through the woods and grabbed as many neighbors as i could and put you up on the big screen. Love the Hollars and sow the land. They inspire us that what we are doing is right. Really really good people.
In Greer? Wow, that put you only an hour and 30 minutes from my hometown in Easley! ☺️ Couldn't really watch much, I'm such an animal lover, it's just hard for me. Don't ever want to know my food that personally. 😒
Ah, Greer is just a hop and a skip from me. Loads come to Union County during deer season where I live. Eating off the land is still a way of life for many in this area.
I would have liked to see all details . I feel that you skipped to much was expecting to see more. I was young when my grandfather would kill a hog and i would like to remember all that I've seen when I was younger
We have posted a few videos showing more of the process before one of them you can see here ua-cam.com/video/4HOzcC5TYvU/v-deo.html there are several channels that have some really good "how to" vlogs I believe that Perma Pastures has a whole how to on parting out the pig and we have helped the Hollar Homestead on a few of their pigs too, I think they have videos on it.
Often channels get de monetized for showing too much. Heck, I watch a sheep herder and you tube slaps her all the time just for procreation that may be behind her. She has to be careful even showing births. Imo ridiculous
My personal choice. Pigs are super intelligent. So I won't eat them. I am not a vegan. And I'm aware where and how meat products come from. As long as the pig doesn't suffer (writing this at start of vid) and his life ends fast. Um no. Can't watch. I know it's a fact of life. But not for me. But y'all still get a thumbs up. X
Hello sir and ma'am My name is Shahid I have a dream a big dream work in farm how you guys are Can you please allow me to work in your property please please I just need shelter and food
How ridiculous that you ask what the hogs name was. Pets and people have names, not animals you're going to eat. Real farmers don't name animals, then eat them. We have pigs and beef animals, not pets in the barn.
the last two videos were rather shocking. to suddenly be presented w a video related to butchering. i am actually in shock. grew up on a farm and the issue of butchering animals were handled much more sensitively than this. it is gruesome and kinda offensive v
If you find this shocking, perhaps you should become a vegan! Oh, no. That won’t work. You might hear a plant scream when you uproot it or cut it down.
Thank you for being a big help, Nate

Awesome video! Ben and Meg are some of the best UA-camrs out there!
I dig hollar home stead . Such kind folk. Much love to you and Katie
Nice to see so many of the homesteaders get together for this class. Thanks for filming it for us. Have a Blessed day.
Very nice summary of the events, Nate! Thank you for your help! Ben and Meg Hollar are awesome parents and homesteaders.
I am rewatching videos and the “peopling” comment from Ben, is so so so Nate and Katie!
Your willingness to help out wherever needed is in true homesteader style 🤠👍 good on ya !
Thanks for tapping this. My son was there in the class. Funny to see someone you know in a video.
A bunch of great families and guys!

It was nice to see almost all of my favorite homsteaders together ❤️ each of you inspires and teaches me how to grow and harvest food !
I am a vegatarian because I know I cant do what you do. But respect you respect the animals.
Holler homestead sub here. Good to see a community coming together
3 of my favorites in one place! Peopling definitely can be nerve racking if you’re a home body.
I love the community you all have built with other homesteaders. I grew up with neighbors helping each other. Good memories. It would be almost impossible to be e totally “self” sufficient.
Peopling is stressful to me as well.
This was awesome!
Enjoyed watching this.

This brought back childhood memories. The whole community would show up to help my dad on slaughter day. Great video!
Nice turnout! Looks like a very successful event. 👍👍
So awesome to see such community. I remember neighbors getting together when I was a child at butchering time. It’s nice to see people helping one another.
Good job guys!❤️
I debated going to this event. Wishing now that I had. Really would have loved to see the preservation portion.
Community coming together! Awesome!

Team work makes a dream work ❤
Great to meet you at the event, Nate. Ben wasn't lying when he said you did the tough tedious work all day.
Loved the video 😘👍🏻💕
Nice job on your toenail remover, we use to just use the claw end of a claw hammer to pull them off.
Good job 😊
Hey Nate, thanks for the video, and was great meeting you and seeing you work / teach Saturday!

Dang I wish I can go to these events. Maybe next year when Hannah is older and not so time consuming. Love learning. Great video Nate

👍❤️🙋♂️
In Greer? Wow, that put you only an hour and 30 minutes from my hometown in Easley! ☺️ Couldn't really watch much, I'm such an animal lover, it's just hard for me. Don't ever want to know my food that personally. 😒
Very informative. How is the house coming along. 😊
I’m sure it was very helpful to be there, but I only have a dog.
Ah, Greer is just a hop and a skip from me. Loads come to Union County during deer season where I live. Eating off the land is still a way of life for many in this area.
I wish you tube would let us see the kill for classes
You can find some how to videos that show most of it but the actual shot is rare.
DID THE HOOFS GET SCRAPED OUT? The dirt or did you not record that bit as you mentioned it would be gory ?
You don't want to see it, believe me
Feet sorry this phone

Stuff like this makes me wish we had proximity to the east coast. We are all alone out here in texas ☹️.
Great video
