It was a pleasure and something I told Josh months ago when the Bunker was in its infancy stages. The way he described the watch and the specs got me excited and first thing I said to him is this would be great to compare to the Hamilton. Congrats on such an amazing watch. I also said this one should be as popular is not more than your diver. You guys did an amazing job thinking of everything that would make this the ultimate field watch.

Great show my friend! Maybe needed a bead blasted khaki field mechanical with the black dial for a ‘like for like! Comparison but you did a great job detailing each section and I loved the drum roll at the end!
I would argue that the lume and the AR coating still fall short. The size difference didn’t really lose Hamilton much in points and bread bloated version would’ve been a negligible difference. Not much would’ve change in score imo. Thanks for the feedback and support bud.

I dunno about your assessment of the movements. Both are based on ETA movements, but the Sellita uses a higher-frequency one. Hamilton opted for a lower frequency movement that has longer power reserve. Generally speaking the higher frequency offers slightly better timekeeping. Will you notice? Probably not. But if you're rating one over the other you can't ignore that. Also SWC regulates the watch. I don't think Hamilton does. You ca probably get a watchmaker to do this, but again if you're rating one over the other, you need to take this into account. Of course this is your channel and you must make whatever comments you feel are correct. But in the "comments" section, I will say that I don't think yo7 hit the most important points. An eighty-hour power reserve is handy. But if you are going to wear the watch every day, which is what tool watches are made for, then it's irrelevant. Anyway they both can be wound by hand.

I've owned the Bunker since its first release and I've owned the Hamilton Khaki. Both are really nice. The Hamilton finishing was slightly better IMO, but the Bunker wins in all other categories to me. Another great video!

Avg Joe.. this is a great comparison! I totally agree that SWC wins this battle. I probably would have given an even higher score than you did.
I have several Hamilton's and they consistently come up short in a couple areas.
First, their lume is not really great..in fact, I would say it just plain sucks...come on Hamilton...time to kick in the Superluminova! If every microbrand on the planet can deliver on lume at even a fraction of the price, why can't Hamilton?
Second, the straps. I would have given Hamilton a 3 at best for their straps. All of the Hamilton's I have include sub-par straps that wear poorly and are uncomfortable. They also charge a fortune for replacement straps. Good call on the Strapscode!
I do like the 80hr power reserve, but it hasn't been much of a problem to date since my Bunker is on my wrist every night and occasionally during the day.
The Bunker ticks so many boxes for me, it's a no-brainer. I'm thinking about a second, but that would be unfair to all my other watches!

Good review and lots of solid points made for both watches. One thing I didn't see mentioned is the SWC has drilled lugs, which is nice if you like to change bands a lot. I also like the Ti, but I already have another microbrand's Ti offering and it fits my wrist better than either of these. If SWC ever came out with a 36-37 case w/ a 42-43-ish L2L I might have to break the piggy bank for something a little more historically accurate.
In the meantime, though, I'd like to see some review action on the Avg. Joe Koa Wood Ring Reviews channel! ;)

I'm 22 yr veteran , Army / Marines. Have a Timex Camper , paid under 20 bucks for it (Aug. 1980) and still wear it as an accomplishment of time served. These watches are nice , but mine actually served time .🇺🇸
Thank you for your service. The best watches I’ve found speaking with many military have been either Timex or Casio. Don’t need anything fancy and their built to last.
I’d probably take issue with your assessment of the Bunker’s resale value.
I stupidly sold my Bunker on ebay a few weeks ago, and received 10% more than I paid for it in December.
They’re outstanding, and I’m buying another tomorrow afternoon.
Hey Mark! You definitely sold at the perfect time when they sold out. Now that they’re restocked and onward, I have my doubts you’d be able to do that again. That was the exception. If they sell out again and the demand is still high, sure, it could happen again but these would be short bursts of opportunity.
I have an SWC "Ark". These guys produce a fantastic product. I think your ratings are spot on.....although I would have rated the SWC a little higher in the depreciation category.
My SWC Bunker gets also a win against my Hammy!! Value will come When The Swiss Watch Company reach Formex or Monta status, that day will come, not in Maybe five years but in ten Years!!👍🏻👏🏻Great comparison Buddy!👌🏻😃
Good comparison review although you Hamilton scoring imho was very generous. I have owned that Hammy and lume is a 2 value is a 3/4 espicially if you had used the Ti version. Strap its 3/4 so on and so on. Hammy maybe should have been a 50
Also the Hammy is 995 retail in Ti which is how you should compare it so is loses 65-75% of its value while the Bunker might losr 15-20% :)

I was comparing these 2 myself and just ordered a bunker (not arrived yet). My choice came down to the movement, I'm surprised you rated the hamilton movement higher, I get the value in the increased power reserve, my concern and deal-breaker on the hamilton was the ability to regulate it myself. The hamilton has an odd way to regulate via screws on the balance wheel, the bunker has a more traditional fine-adjustment screw. I wear my field watches pretty hard, and while I expect either to be well regulated out of the factory I don't expect them to stay that way over the years, I need a watch I can regulate at home and not have to send out to be regulated by the company.
Looking for a Bunker when they are available again. But also have a 10 yr old Khaki Mechanical 38mm that I will never part with. Sure, the Bunker has better specs and may be the overall better value, but the Hamilton is just so classic in look and size. There's a place for both.
I've been looking forward to this head to head.
Now as much as I love Hamilton I have to agree with the result that SWC is just such good value, great video bud! Hope you do some more of these.

Looking at this head to head. I have to say the case design in my opinion is nicer on the Hamilton, it's more versatile to have it as a dress or field watch, but yeah the SWC seems to be a better watch on everything else, well done SWC, nice video Joe 👍
Yeah, I definitely agree with you. A few others pointed that out to me as well. You can dress up the Hamilton for sure. I was looking more at the fact it’s a field watch and does it do what it’s purpose is. Now granted do we take our diver scuba diving to test its depths? Absolutely not 🤣. Great feedback. The SWC Bunker leather strap is a little stiff. But makes up with the flexible Velcro strap.
if those watches were boxers, than the Hami would be Barrera (does the job, never goes like look at me ME ME..makes no party out of loving etc). The SWC is Patterson. Adorable, true champion.
I feel Hamilton with their titanium case would have stacked up much better but the Bunker with no doubt has much better value. But I would prefer the aesthetics of the Ti Hammy over the Bunker. Good stuff my man !
Good feedback brother. I think a lot of people would still choose the Hamilton for the horological value and resale with a better movement. We all have boxes that need checked and lume and A/R coating may not be as important or even aesthetics alone can win a battle for some.
The titanium Khaki is over twice the price of the Bunker, so that’s some pretty pricey aesthetics!

@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Better movement? I doubt it as I explained in another reply. Also, on the the resale point, apples to apples, a titanium khaki cost more than twice the SWC. Let's suppose on Hami you lost 30% and on SWC you lost 50%. on a price list of $995 for the titanium khaki vs the $450 of the bunker, so, your loss on Hami is close to $300 vs the loss on the SWC is around $225. We can argue that doing the proper research you get a 15% discount on the Hami while shopping so you get a 75$ rebate, something the guys from SWC probably can't do without hitting their margins. So it will be in this case a tie again rather than a victory of the Hami, imho. Happy new year

SWC is spot on for the dial field watch. Ti, lume, AR and quartz. If they did a beige dial it would sell like pancakes. Hamilton has always been cheap with lume (in my experience).

@@isenhouroutdoors8530 now that I have a timegrapher I just ran both watches for this comment. The SWC is running -5 secs at 306 deg. amp and .3ms beat error. The Hamilton was running +4 secs with a 229deg amplitude and .4ms beat error.

I been looking at buying a Hamilton forever, but every time I look into the watches, they just come off with inferior stuff, I can buy a citizen pmd56-2952 that has solar, and atomic time, for the price of a Hamilton.
What about Hamilton is inferior in your eyes? Just curious as I tend to agree on certain aspects. Citizen makes some really nice alternatives especially in a solar option! No argument there.

Thanks for the question, about Hamilton watches, unfortunately my response will be a lengthy one.
1: I don't care about the companies history, means nothing to me, I am concerned about my watch, not history, so paying a name and history is bunk to me.
2 You have to send in the watch to Hamilton to be serviced, instead of taking it to a local Jewelers for servicing... how long does that process take ?? how much does it cost ? and what a tedious pain in the ass.
3 They Don't seem to give better time keeping than any other mechanical movement in my opinion.
4 The Khaki, still has no screw down crown, this tell me everything... a watch that cost at least $400 if you are lucky, should have a screw down crown.. WTF Hamilton.
5 They keep going on about the power reserve being 80 hours, or what ever it is.. maybe I don't want my watch going on for 80 hours.. maybe I would like hand wound it.
There are really good secondary choices out there that are equal or better to a Hamilton, at less cost. (my opinion though.)
Islander watches, uses a Seiko mechanical movement , that can be hacked , wound. screw down crown, Sapphire glass $250-300, and in my mind, better than a Hamilton.
Casio offers G-shock, Pro trek and Wave Cepter and other lines that blow Hamilton out of the water, in terms of performance, cost, And yes I know Casio don't make mechanical watches, but still... competition.... and all of that..
Basically I think Hamilton use their history and the name to sell watches, to someone who is new to watches, the history and the name do not matter, the product does.
I have settled on a citizen pmd56-2952 with a beautiful green dial, and my late wife's G-shock, will be used very rarely... If I was going to get a mechanical watch it would be a watch from Islander, and the Bunker watch.. although I would go with the Japanese movement 1st.. over a Swiss movement
