Taekwondo Yellow Belt Poomsae - Taeguek Il Jahng

Cooper and Matt perform the Taekwondo yellow belt poomsae, named Taeguek Il Jahng (Taeguek 1), for their belt test.

This is really good! My grandson just turned 4 and has this almost down pat for his yellow belt testing to get his orange belt and this helps me show him so he can practice the turns! Thanks! Very cute the little ones are! I’m surprised there’s adults in the same class. And here Tiny Tigers are up to age 5 so after age 5 the poomsea is the same but longer here and then for adults even longer with more steps. Love it!!!! Thank you for sharing!!

This Taekwondo school offers a program for 4-6 year old children. Sometime during first grade (i.e. around their 6th birthday) these students are promoted to the regular Taekwondo class for 6 and up. The students you see in this video are from the 6 and up class. Throughout the week the school offers an "Adult" class which most of these adults attended unless they chose to take class with their children. This video is from a graduation ceremony where all students of a certain belt, regardless of age, come together to demonstrate the skills they have learned and to be awarded their next color belt.

The poomsae is correct. Taegeuk Il Jang is the first Taegeuk. Not sure how the grading structure is for this dojang but if they're senior Yellow Belts, the instructor can ask them to perform a previous Poomsae during grading.
Anyway, great performance by all students.

I failed the yellow belt test when I was a kid. Stage fright got to me and I went blank. I was so embarrassed and humiliated that I literally ran out of the gym and wandered off a half mile or so to find a payphone to call my Mom to pick me up. She was a little pissed at me but was absolutely livid that the sensei didn't even bother to try to find a nine year old wandering around alone when he was suppose to be under his supervision. A couple weeks later the studio called to find out why I quit (duh) and my Mom gave them an earful.

@@tidakadalah you shut up you probably do not know how difficult it is to prepare for a belt test. Many people learn at different paces. i have seen people take belt tests including me and there is stage freight involved because everyone in the dojang is watching you.

@@thebeantower18 Really? In my dojang there was a big glass window and people walking by could see you practicing and for tests too (the dojang was in the middle of town, so there was a lot of peoole). But good job, it must have been hard doing it alone.

thats the problem when you have Taekwondo as part of school syllabus and not as a Martial art. We always picture adults as black belts.
