For the people saying he was aimlessly firing rounds at bushes: I'm surprised you've never heard of the common tactic of suppressive fire, seeing as this guy had a MK48, that's actually one of the best things to do in a situation like that.
For those saying he was "hip firing": he wasn't, the camera was mounted to the left side of his helmet which is up and left from his eyes. He was most likely aiming down the sights in most of this video.

BWAHAHA. Depends on the numbers. In fact I'm pretty sure 90% of the Marines feel safer when a Hog is giving them cover fire compared to a squishy F-35. Tracking systems are developing and soon the pilots will miss flying in a bathtub.

vsauceisepic The F-35 cannot survive in the same environment the A-10 can. The problem the A-10 has is Enemy Air Defenses. The F-35 has so many new bells and whistles but hasn't any of the equipment nor the speed to do the job the A-10 has been doing. There is a plan to replace the A-10 with another specialized aircraft. Another A-10 type aircraft for CAS. And it isnt the F-35. If the F-35 had a few AAA rounds hit its wing or fuselage its not going to make it home maybe not even out of the area they are in. Look at the battle damage since the A-10 has been in operation. Compare that damage if it were on the F-35. The pilot would be punching out. Lockheed says they will get the cost down. When? The total project cost has doubled what it was supposed to be. Lockheed hasn't gotten their shit together since they were put on warning from the DOD. Planes are moved before work gets completed and it has to be chased down the line in order to be completed. So they can show the DOD they are getting work done on time. Well Lockheed does not get paid till the plane actually hits certain stations on the line. If they would be selling them to the DOD at the price they said they were going to be in the first place then I wouldn't have a issue with the cost. But that isn't the case and it never will. Oh and on building new A-10's I don't know what they did with their tooling and fixture's But those are Air Force property. Now unless they were told by the Air Force or the DOD to destroy those. They should be sitting someplace.

This shit is amazing. All the things these guys go through on a daily basis - life and death, constant fear and risk of injury. Really just incredible compared to your boring day at the office.

Once they've been in the shit for their first time, that fear goes away and is replaced by the fear of letting their teammates down. That fear stays with them after they leave the service and is one of the leading causes of depression and suicide among our vets, and is why it is so important to ensure that our returning vets have a social network to lean on while they integrate back into civilian life.

Oh you know they do. They only come in for close air support too so they know there's not much of a threat on the ground. They get to fly slow, low and steady while firing the biggest gun there is (on an aircraft at least) . Usually they go by for multiple passes too. How fun would that be? awesome. Most pilots never get close to the ground , they fire from miles away. These guys actually SEE their targets with their own eyes. Pretty rad.

I remember back in 1983 as we were taking our M60A3 tanks off of the railhead in Grafenwoehr, West Germany 🇩🇪, I flinched from hearing the A10 Warthog firing down range. My platoon Sgt.SSG Augustine, was standing right beside me when I said,"What the Hell was that!!?", he laughed saying, "That's an A10 burst" What an unsuspected surprise that was! "So that's what they sound like!" I told him. SSG Augustine just told me to get used to it.
Of the numerous miles I've traveled on road trips in my Tank, A10 Warthogs would typically zoom overhead from our 6 o'clock in surprise as they'd practice strafing tank columns. What a feeling it is knowing that many enemy convoys succumbed to these beasts as they were wiped out before ever hearing the rounds being fired or just hearing the jet engines at all! lol
Then we got to run engagement scenarios with A10 support and I was blown away at the amount of damage and accuracy these beasts were capable of dishing out! The hollowed out hulk of an M113 troop carrier we used for target practice had 1 inch diameter holes pierced through the it that looked like a hot 3 inch spike going through a one pound block of butter!!

From then on I knew once I heard the BRRRAT of an A10, who or whatever was on the receiving end of that burst probably wasn't having a very good day!

Gotta feel good to hear that that sound only the A 10 makes. I was privileged to see a dismounted GAU 8 Test fired. Something every civilan should witness. The pressure of the thing shakes your bones . You feel like you just ran 25 yards . Even though the bullets are firing so close to each other. It sounds like one quick noise but your body feels the pressure waves every time it fires.

When I was much younger we used to see A-10s practice out at sea (in the uk) the sound of that gun will live me forever. Absolutely superb weapons platform never bettered!
Seen a few A10 an f15 hitting the range at Donna nook..even walked out to the target... look's can be deceiving they look close but was a long walk out an back picked up loads of 20mm rounds. even tho they was blue as in training rounds still yeah chuck em in a fire if they boom explosive...if it dnt take out half the yard there safe. we all had loads of em an everyone wanted one
