Back in August of 2022, I got extremely sick with COVID. During the times I either couldn't sleep or struggled to fall asleep, I'd play this video, and even if it took me a while, I always drifted into sleep while imagining Los Angeles of 2019, as if watching the city live and breathe from a balcony like Deckard did. It was such a great comfort. Thank you so much for helping me to get through that terrible time.
I love blade runner, but this ambience is very special to me. The rain gives me a sense of loneliness, confusion, the feeling of being left alone, though knowing others are out there, people just like me. The choir sounds threatening, but mysterious, like you know somewhere, something is going to happen. It fills me with a need of wanting to do something about my current situation, but feeling helpless at the same time. Right now I feel alone, like I'm falling endlessly, but I know, out there, in the rain, is someone to comfort me. So thank you.

In the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" people can "dial" a feeling; meaning, they get a stimulant that puts their brain in a desired state, be it euphoria, depression, "wanting to dial something", "long deserved peace". It's funny, putting this on feels like dialing.
In a way, one can argue that searching for videos like this one is dialing. In the book it's just explained in a way so that an average reader at the time could understand the concept.
He missed a little bit in that the psychiatric establishment promises this while demonizing non-patented and effective mental health medicines. Blade Runner disappointed at the box office back then in 1982. But it aged and still ages well, like a good old wine. Instead most block buster of the past just faded away... like tears in rain.
just watched it a month ago for the first time, and in modern day context I didn't honestly think it was that great in my opinion. I think it still holds up but I imagine it was much more impactful back then.
Listen Buddy, It may sound stupid but did you watched it just once? Because when I first saw it (a year ago) it was kinda boring to me. Slow pace and I couldn’t really tell what the movie was about. A few weeks later the movie was still in my head and I thought “I heard so often than this movie is a masterpiece why couldn’t I tell?” so I bought the DVD and watched it again and.. I cannot describe the feeling this movie gave me. This film is by far my favorite movie of all time and beats even every movie I have loaded up with nostalgia. This movie has something so vastly different than every other movie that this is legit the only movie I watched 3 times in a row because I just wanted to. Maybe give it an another try because this movie hits different today more than ever because in our future we will face the question “What makes a human.. human?” quit often when we face modern AI. Let this movie slip into your mind. Let the conversation sink in. Let the music flow in your mind and just.. enjoy it.
This is incredible. Wonderful attention to detail. Calm enough to sleep to, still full of unique depth and intricate layering of sound and texture. Magnificent work. 💜
Chinatown. The sight of bioware, the smell of chow mein, sold side by side in the kiosks and street stands amid the bustling lines of busy people lit up by the glow of neon signs, hurrying here and there beneath a dreary downpour.
I take my time as I walk these streets heading to my next job. The smell of the city never gets old. I reach into my pocket and pull out the picture of the man I was assigned to assassinate a middle aged man who is supplying bioware technology to a rival gang.
A soothing susurration from a darkened misty alleyway, the smog acts a screen for both fornicators and passing voyeurs. It's always wet, a perpetual drizzle that soaks through my trench coat and moistens me to the bone. I finger my holster out of instinct. It pays to be wary in the poor quarters.

I swear this music soothes the nerves. Even my hyperactive parrots love this music and it actually calms them, then the music starts to mellow-out my cats. They then crawl on top of the parrots cages and fall asleep. And since it has no meditation ruining commercials that makes this music take you back in time when life was enjoyable and not at war. Then you just fall asleep. I strongly recommend taking your medical marijuana just before you listen to this, because when you mix that with the music you fall into a deep coma-like sleep allowing your body to relax and repair itself. @@uremawifenowdave it's a boomer thing (and im not joking)
Philip knew what he was talking about! these are early forms of such phenomenoa.
This concept is perhaps is an influence from his contemporary Timothy Leary.
In a way, one can argue that searching for videos like this one is dialing. In the book it's just explained in a way so that an average reader at the time could understand the concept.
I use music and ambient sounds to affect my mood all the time. Sometimes it's the only way I can pretend to be real.
He missed a little bit in that the psychiatric establishment promises this while demonizing non-patented and effective mental health medicines. Nixon made marijuana and all known psychedelics Schedule I, literally declaring them to be "of no medicinal value", when science was proving they were. Cocaine is Schedule II, (in case you didn't figure out their priorities vs public health)
I’ve been sleeping to the original blade runner every night since I was 12 years old. The music in the film just sets me off into the deepest god damn sleep without fail. In that sleep I dream of electric sheep.

This combination of both "Blade Runner" movies along with the rain feels right!! If anyone hasn't noticed, The rain plays a big part in both of these awesome movies!! So it's a no-brainer that the ambient rain in the background will make for soothing and comforting soundscapes as sleep overtakes the person listening to it!! Awesome job man!!

I've used this video every single night for about a year and a half to fall asleep, it really has helped me so incredibly much. Thank you
Been listening to this playlist in part or as a whole for years now & I just wanted to say thank you for putting this together. I listen to this often when I need to relax or am feeling overwhelmed & it always calms me down. A beautifully immersive experience. RIP Vangelis
This is PERFECT for fellow 'Blade Runners' trying to sleep...
But the real question remains, do androids dream of electric sheep?
AndresGarciaLegos as we all know, yes they do. And they do so without questioning their reality or their logical meanings. They’re not ones and zeroes. They possess soul

I think it
still holds up but I imagine it was much more impactful back then.
Let the music flow in your mind and just.. enjoy it.

we live in such a good world. With the recources of internet we can atempt everything.
That sounds a bit over-optimistic, Blank. Our world isn't all that dissimilar to the world in Blade Runner.
I forgot I even commented on this.
I take my time as I walk these streets heading to my next job. The smell of the city never gets old. I reach into my pocket and pull out the picture of the man I was assigned to assassinate a middle aged man who is supplying bioware technology to a rival gang.
Neuromancer?
A soothing susurration from a darkened misty alleyway, the smog acts a screen for both fornicators and passing voyeurs. It's always wet, a perpetual drizzle that soaks through my trench coat and moistens me to the bone. I finger my holster out of instinct. It pays to be wary in the poor quarters.
I'm gonna miss LA..DTLA..this is the storyline. Haven't seen BR 2049 I think Deckard &: Rachel headed North, can't wait to see.

Sometimes I listen to these to really immerse myself into these fictional worlds. Just a touch of imagination and you’re there.
describe your imaginings. Do you picture yourself walking through the rain, though Chinatown, bathed by neon lights? Or do you imagine sitting still in Deckard's apartment as the shadows dance across the wall and hovercabs ghost the skies?
@@anypish2 I'm not him but I imagine sitting in a dark apartment, with the neon lights and shadows dance across the wall. Howling of futuristic machinery and wind and rain. I guess feeling the solitude fits best experiencing the cyber-noir instead of people filled streets.

Haven't seen her face since 2003...January....aside from a 2013, 9 hour Skype video chat....She moved to Australia, became a nurse, bought a tiny house for herself....she married someone out of loneliness...a younger guy....now 6 years with him....says she loves him now...got used to being with him.......promised me she would come back and that he was just a guy who liked her but not to worry because she had no interest in him...that we would have our chance again....yet they are married 5 years now and she hasn't answered my e-mails since 10 months......told me to forget her and stop trying in her last mail...." move on with your life. I will never go back to you. My life is settled in Australia....I feel sorry for you because I know you've waited so long for me...but you are wasting your time. You are trying to change something that you cannot." She is 45. We were supposed to have kids and have a life together here in the USA. I stayed faithful to her in my heart for the last 17 years even though I was tempted many times to date others but I did not have love for them. No interest. We were 5 years together from 1998 - 2003. Now no replies, social media blocked on messenger service....and no e-mail reply now since almost a year. Just ignoring, just nothing. Now laying alone in my bed at 4:00 am in my shit apartment....listening to this music. Empty. Lonely. 54 years old. With nothing in my life. Talking to myself on a comment section on fucking youtube.
