This is from his '68 Comeback TV special -- this part is known as the "stand-up session;" THANK YOU for doing this version -- everyone watches the '50's movie version, which is fine, but no one looks at this version; seeing him perform it live & in his natural manner is wonderful; btw, Parker complained that his hair was getting messed up; apparently he didn't have a clue that seeing a messed up Elvis was part of what made him so beautiful; can you imagine how much hair spray he would have needed w-all the "bouncing around" he did.

I guess you confused it with the Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite concert.
The '68 CB Special was a 'normal' TV show from CBS and it was only broadcasted in the US.

The venue was in California. It was Elvis's idea to do it. Colonel Parker wanted a traditional Christmas special because it was to be shown at Christmas. It won the time slot for the year Elvis was wonderful.

Yeah You’ve hit the nail on the head . You have to have that presence and X Factor and that’s a Gift born with imo , like Elvis , Micheal Jackson , Prince and so many others who had that Aura that people were drawn to . Whitney Houston had it as well

This was at the Burbank studios. They wanted it to be a small stage so he could connect again with the audience, since this was his comeback. They also brought back the musicians that he started out with to make it more special to him and make it a relaxed situation. As you can see, it worked.

  • @ishpadful

Ok, so this was in a studio in LA, filming a special in July of '68 for a Christmas release! Every day, they would rehearse&film parts of the special & everyday, it would be a different audience that would come in! And, in the DVD for that "'68 Special", we can see that he wore something different in each session. And, of course, the audience looked different bc it was another day! When he did IF I CAN DREAM, there too, they filmed him in two different suits! Unless u watch the "long" version DVD, u would see the whole thing, outtakes and all. Most of us would have been exhausted, but, not Elvis! He gave it all he had! Quite the ENTERTAINER!

Filming for this concert took place in June 1968 at NBC Studios in Burbank, California but it was aired in December 68. This was the 1st time in 7 years performing in front of an audience and revived his career

I was lucky enough to see James live in 87 with my Dad! The best live concert I've ever been to! Wished I could have seen Elvis!! James and Elvis were great friends. James said Elvis was not only my friend but also my Soul brother!..if you haven't yet..React to If I can Dream by Elvis 68 comeback special.

You talk about presense I got a long list of performances, how about Elvis' Stuck on You on the Frank Sinatra Show in '60. He had just come out of the Army. The man just touches his chin and the crow goes WILD!!! Unbelievable!!! He was already a Mega Star and this was a small setting for a reason. This was a COMEBACK. Because Elvis only done movies in the "60's. He was cranking out 3 movies a year!!! They only let a small crowd in because Elvis was very nervous. This was either going to make him or break him. Because he didn't know how he was going to be excepted in the '60's from the "50's. So they were literally told to be very controlled, no touching Elvis, Elvis couldn't touch them. If they got out of hand they would be escorted out. This was getting him ready to get back on the concert circuit. He didn't know if he was still going to be accepted. It was a BIG success and it made him so much more famous that in the '70's, he never had to be introduced AGAIN as Elvis or Elvis Presley--they play his theme music and he picks his moment when he comes out on stage. Elvis had a special way to do everything. Including entering a concert and exiting. And they always had to announce Elvis Has Left The Building or Ladies And Gentlemen----Elvis Has Left The Building to get them to leave and go home. Thanks, I like your reactions!!!

FABIAN... YOU SHOULD PLAY "AND, I LOVE YOU SO", "KENTUCKY RAIN", "SOLITAIRE", AND ESPECIALLY "YOU ASKED ME TOO" . "YOU ASKED ME TO" WAS WRITTEN BY WAYLON JENNINGS BUT ELVIS RECORDED IT FIRST. ELVIS MADE A WESTERN CALLED "CHARO". THAT SONG WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN IT. BUT I AM NOT SURE IF IT WAS OR NOT. I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS, YOU GET AS EXCITED AS I DO. THANKS MAN!

Really enjoy your Elvis reactions! It would be fun to see your reaction to his the laughing version of "Are you lonesome tonight". When Elvis was in a good mood he liked to change the lyrics in his songs, and on this day in 1969, Elvis Presley performed at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. While singing Elvis started laughing and could not stop, the story says that he was amused by the sight of a man in the front row who removed his toupee right after that he instead of singing the line, “Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?” he sang “Do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair”

I knew a guy once, a sound editor on several big Hollywood movies, who told me personal story that really made me understand the effect Elvis could have on a woman. He told me he was in the audience that day with his girlfriend and that she was just going wild watching Elvis. And he said that after the show that went straight home and made love and he said it was the best sex he’d ever had in his life. And he said, “I had to give Elvis an assist on that one.”

    Very well said!
I`ve always said to all my pupils: "It doesn`t matter what you will end up doing in life, be the best you can at it!"
A cleaning lady who gives her best will be treated with respect.
A sloppy doctor will never get respect from anybody. Not even his/her family.

Great reaction...the man was different...definitely given all the looks and talent by God..he seemed pretty humble considering his overwhelming attributes I'm not sure many of us could have handled that level of adoration,lol...he aged fast and died young and very addicted to drugs, but I would have died sooner most likely...they say he was over 300 hundred pounds at the time of his death and taking enough narcotics to kill a biker or anybody, thats sad..but there will never be another like him...Michael Jackson was real close..funny he married Elvis's only child Lisa Marie, lol
